  1. Cheers, Steve. Must admit that it’s becoming something of an all-day breakfast. Well, the 3rd part of it specifically.
  2. Greek breakfast - parts 1, 2 & 3
  3. Early yesterday evening - looking towards Molyvos harbour on the Greek island of Lesvos. It was a bit overcast and breezy, but expecting things to brighten up today.
  4. I have this one - Dance, Dance, Dance - a compilation of Contempo releases. Among the tracks is JJ Barnes singing "Baby, please come back" and I got him to autograph the cassette insert when I saw him perform at Hinckley (in '83, I think) at what was my first 'proper' nighter.
  5. A lovely tribute to a very talented lady. RIP Leola.
  6. SOUL GALORE - a small but mighty night of rare soul, boogaloo beats, classy crossover, latin vibes, 50s/60s R&B, Motown and more played on original vinyl at Café Batavia, just two minutes from Centraal Station. Special guest DJs: Big Boss Man Billy 'T' Soul and resident DJ, Pete45. Wooden dance floor, air conditioning, great selection of beers, spirits and more. Entry: €5,- More info: https://www.facebook.com/groups/northernsoulamsterdam/ and... https://www.northernsoul.nl

  7. I wouldn't take Wikipedia as gospel. All that means is no one has updated the page yet.
  8. For songs written in the time of the Vietnam war, pretty much yes, although the term refers to anyone who steals a guy’s girl while they’re away on military service. Brief but interesting background to the origins and development of the expression here... https://taskandpurpose.com/brief-history-jody-original-mr-steal-girl
  9. RIP. From what I've read, Johnson made an appearance on Ready Steady Go in 1965. Is that correct? And if so, any footage?
  10. Seems to be no more than shameless plugging of an event.
  11. And the connection to photography is?
  12. Just for fun... About 10 years back, I was experimenting with stereoscopic 3D photography and worked out you could get the same effect with digital images and not just photos you'd taken. So using a scan I'd done of Linda's classic publicity photo, I made a 3D pic. Not much good if you don't have anaglyph glasses, but if you do, it works rather well!
  13. Obvious one, and very bittersweet...
  14. Courtesy of Wikipedia... Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Play_School_(UK_TV_series) Best pic I could find... Hamble is on the right...
  15. The view from our balcony about 20 minutes ago. Photo courtesy of my elderly iPhone5.
  16. Haha - thank you. If only the ones here were so accommodating!
  17. Cheers, Steve. Warblers and waders - two groups of birds I've never been good at identifying, even in my days as a member of the Young Ornithologists Club!
  18. Thanks! It started slowly and I wasn't very hopeful, but a bit of perseverance paid off in the end. Still miffed at not getting that little grebe, though.
  19. And I also saw... Oystercatchers Ducks in flight Frogs - singing a full-on frog chorus! And hares One thing I didn't get a photo of was a little grebe. It could sense me as soon as I approached the pool it was in (no hides anywhere in the woods, unfortunately) and would dive and swim away to safety. Next time, maybe.
  20. Today I cycled to the Amsterdam woods and I saw... A fine male pheasant Reed bunting Warbler - possible sedge, sadly obscured behind a leaf Ducklings
  21. Official release to promote (as it says on the label) the album "After hours vol.3". Both tracks appear on it.
  22. Just seen the first swallows of the year. Summer is coming!
  23. It did come out as the flip to the Cajun Hart UK WB reissue from 2005.
  24. It's the same with desktop computers and even laptops. Increasingly they're manufactured without a DVD/CD drive on the presumption we're all streaming music, TV and films.
  25. Can’t help you there, Steve, as I’ve not been. Sorry.
