  1. Sound files play without a problem on my 5th generation iPad. The media player’s own volume control doesn’t seem to work, however, although not much of an issue as I suspect most people would favour the volume up/down control on their own device just as I do.
  2. Backing track is same as the “Tingle” acetate that Pete Smith had about half a dozen years back. And wasn’t there a version of “Tingle” reportedly by Inez & Charlie Foxx - or am I getting mixed up?
  3. The two Wane/Wayne Harrel vids on YouTube appear to have photoshopped labels, and the upload by Francosoul is very much of inferior sound quality. In both instances it's possible the sound files came from a charity CD Pete Smith put together a couple of years back. Thread here: <Added>Looks like I could be mistaken as one of the uploads dates to 2015. The other - the one with the better sound quality - was uploaded in September 2017, so perhaps that came from the CD. Either way, both labels are surely photoshopped.
  4. Porsche-built mini train in Amsterdam's Amstelpark. Of course we had to take a ride on it and I was dead chuffed that we did.
  5. Hugely interesting - thanks for sharing!
  6. Got to say that while 'Where will you be boy'/'Even the score' are rightly acknowledged as stand-out Chicago soul gems, the flip to her follow-up single 'I simply love him' seems to have been overlooked by comparison. Can't think why as it's equally as 'one-derful'!
  7. Lammergeier spotted again - this time in Norfolk. The story was only posted by BBC News, but if you read it the bird was actually seen and photographed yesterday. https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-norfolk-54342198
  8. Enjoy and happy hunting!
  9. Likewise, been in shorts and short sleeves since late spring and had to put on trousers and a jumper this week. Not good. No central heating yet, though, but don't want to speak too soon! And I think you're right - it is going to be a looooong winter!
  10. Front window view about 15 minutes ago. Looking very autumnal and hard to believe it was summer last week. Feels more like late October!
  11. We had a small end-of-summer barbecue on the balcony in glorious weather yesterday evening. Neither of us is of the "let's bbq half a cow" type, so yesterday's fare consisted of scallops wrapped in air-dried Italian bacon, and langoustine. We also roasted some red peppers and a couple of bulbs of garlic for later use. We've got a week of rain to look forward to now. Farewell, summer. It was nice knowing you.
  12. Difficult to say. It could be. If so, maybe a young one with those underdeveloped fangs.
  13. Send the pic in to your local paper and ask if anyone can ID it.
  14. Thanks a lot. And I’m sorry to have ended your 40-year run!
  15. Something that I'd overlooked in this story is that the first drummer with The Jesters - Frank Scarfo - would later join Allentown band Father's Angels, who of course became hugely popular on the Northern Soul scene with their instrumental Bok to Bach!
  16. I listened to about half of these while enjoying a few glasses of bubbles on the balcony last night. Thoroughly enjoyed everything I heard and a great format for easy listening. Time to revive the concept?
  17. Neither 45cat nor Discogs list it as having a release on a 45, but thought I'd ask to be sure. My interest is because I have it on an acetate paired with their release "How can I tell my mom and dad". Possibly, then, it was initially intended as the flip to the actual release of that track rather than the sing-along instrumental "Hey! Stars of tomorrow". As for the Ella Woods, "I love you (Yes, I do)" would certainly sit very well next to it in a DJ set or mix.
  18. Perhaps I might get a better response if I post the tune in question. Here you go: The Lovelites - I love you (yes I do). LP-only or did it also get a release on a 45?
  19. Enquiring of you knowledgable folk whether the Lovelites song "I love you (Yes I do)" got a release on a 45 or if it's available only on their "With love from..." UNI LP from 1970. Thanks in advance...
  20. Maybe, but it has to do it in little flight hops...
  21. That's a shame, but still got to be somewhere. Maybe it'll turn up again in a few days.
  22. A lammergeier. Blimey, what a treat! Will look forward to the pics. And better luck next time for spotting the wryneck.
  23. Wryneck... Hope you get lucky and spot it.
  24. Jimmy Burns and Bobby James are, in many respects, the same song - same backing track and almost identical vocal treatment. The Brand New Faces isn't really a 'version'. It just utilises the melody. The Mystics, on the other hand, is a completely different arrangement but with the original lyrics. In fact, you need reminding that it is a version of the Jimmy Burns song. Listening to all four back-to-back, I have to say The Mystics sounds fresh and exciting and thus it gets my vote.
  25. That doesn’t help.
