  1. Northern Soul Top Trumps! How absolutely ridiculous.
  2. Nothing to see - it's just on a plain white label. Chap I got mine from says he found two or three of 'em in a 25 count box he picked up Stateside donkey's years ago.
  3. My copy on the Impression label also plays perfectly. Probably the rarest format of this is the Jerhart white label test press.
  4. The original film is set in Harlem. It's not about the Supremes or any other group specifically - it's just about the trials and tribulations of the music industry and the effects of its poison on those who believe it to be a route to fame and riches without consequences. It could be set in any decade - the 1930's, 40's, 50's or 2020's - because ultimately nothing in the music business changes. It's all about exploitation.
  5. Different seller. This one also looks like the previously discussed boot - the text isn't crisp.
  6. As I understand it, that particular umbrella was prototyped by the firms "Gospel" & "Blues". I hear that both firms eventually merged and crossed-over to the other side. God rest their conflicted Soul...
  7. Nice thought, except she would probably have been 12/13 when the track was recorded.
  8. Superior mono version of If Only We Had Met Sooner - taken from the Canadian Hypnotized LP https://youtu.be/mRLdicXQZuw

  11. Hypnotized LP - Canadian Hypnotized EP - France Linda Jones - Press Photo What can I do (without you) - France
  12. Thanks to Pete Smith for helping source a sound file. As much as it doesn't sound like it, the track on the acetate is in fact Lou Courtney, and it is the same version as appears on the flip of "I watched you slowly slip away". Big thanks to those who helped.
  13. Can you help? Following on from the thread about the unidentified beat ballad (see link), I'm after a sound file of Lou Courtney "I'll cry if I want to". It's the flip to "I watched you slowly slip away". I'd like to find out if the track on the acetate is in fact Lou Courtney, and if so, whether it's the same take. Obviously no mp3s are allowed here, so if you contact me by PM, I'll give you my email address. Alternatively, there's the option to upload to somewhere like Soundcloud. I'd be very grateful if someone could help out here. Many thanks in advance.
  14. Big thanks to your source, Pete. This is Lou Courtney singing, or it's a version of the song that's on the flip of "I watched you slowly..."? Doesn't sound like him singing.
  15. I'm sure you're after better condition, but there are two copies on eBay; one looking identically rough as my copy, and a much nicer looking German issue... Item number: 230604487830 Both as Buy It Now's...
  16. Yes, US. You thinking it sounds a bit British at times? I do. 'Blue-eyed' was also my first thought, but as the vocals progress, the singer seems more Hispanic. Difficult to tell definitively.
  17. An Associated Recording Studios acetate. The only info on the label is "I'll cry if I want to" Fling Music. https://soundcloud.com/harveysoulfinger/ill-cry-if-i-want-to-sample Who is it?
  18. The seller had this up for grabs just recently, withdrew it from sale and then put it up at the price you see now.
  19. Some usb turntables - I have a Numark TT - come with a lead and socket that allows you to connect a tape deck to it and record to your computer (using Audacity or whatever audio software you prefer). Simple...
  20. And Quadrophenia was hardly a stickler for period accuracy
  21. It's not a history lesson, it's entertainment.
  22. Nice article about Ron Diggins and the early days of the mobile DJ. Great pics, too... https://www.djhistory.com/features/dig-this-ron-diggins-and-the-first-mobile-djs
