  3. OK, the day of truth......the first midweek chart of this week....... Phew! Philadelphia International Classics: The Tom Moulton Remixes enters the Top 200 compilation chart at a staggering No.11 with over 1000 sales across the counter in the first day of release. F*ckin' GREAT! Ian D
  4. You comped it on this last year as well..... https://www.amazon.co.uk/Mellow-15th-Anniversary-Crystal/dp/B00489D2FY Ian D
  5. My last trip to New York in 2008 saw me go to a private lock-up cellar 3 seperate times on the most dangerous street in the Bronx with 2 drug gangs on opposite corners running their patch. 3 times the guy didn't turn up so myself and a fellow digger had to kill a couple of hours each time until it became too dangerous to stick around any longer. The final time we went, I pulled up in a fancy off-roader hire vehicle at around 6.00pm (thus breaking one of my own rules) and suddenly realised that we could be sprayed with bullets any second, so I took off quick. However as a result of that quick exit, we ended up hitting another part of the Bronx and found a flea market which had a seller who also had a basement full of records at his house. So we ended up in a cellar in the Bronx until 2.00am after all.... Ian D
  6. Dress scruffy (if you're digging for records you'll be wearing jeans, trainers and a tee shirt surely), keep about 20 dollars and change in your pockets but any serious cash in your socks or underpants, don't wonder around with expensive gadgets, wristwatches, necklaces etc, don't park a nice rented car right outside the shop but within a short walking distance, keep aware of any large gatherings of youths in a short time - all common sense stuff. If anyone approaches you and asks what you're doing just tell 'em, "Don't worry I'm an eccentric English guy looking for Soul records and this looks like a good place" and give 'em a smile. I think they'll realise pretty quickly that you don't represent a threat. Oh, and don't use too many words like 'perusing....... Ian D
  7. Blimey, was that really 20 years ago. I actually put this out on a label called Streethype. Fantastic record which still sounds fresh to me. And Xavier ft 4 Real does fit the remit doesn't it.....? Ian D
  8. I think Boba went through the place on his lunch break......... Ian D
  9. What a great way to start a Saturday! Enjoy Martin! Ian D
  10. A FANTASTIC 5 Star review in the Times yesterday:- And still climbing up the Amazon rankings..... We're currently: No.1 Disco No.1 Soul/RnB No.5 Box Sets No.51 Overall Ranking https://www.amazon.co...32587124&sr=1-1 Looking good for Monday! Ian D
  11. OK, just 3 days to go until we finally hit the shops and here's how we're looking:- "'Philadelphia International Classics: The Tom Moulton Remixes' is currently moving rapidly up the Amazon rankings and will likely reach a peak next week when it becomes finally available. We're currently: No.1 Disco No.1 Soul/RnB No.6 Box Sets No.95 Overall Ranking https://www.amazon.co.uk/Philadelphia-International-Classics-Moulton-Remixes/dp/B006W33UC4/ref=sr_1_1?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1332419854&sr=1-1 The Times Review tomorrow which will review 'Philadelphia International Classics: The Tom Moulton Remixes' and 'Disco Discharge: American Hot' with the new Madonna album 'MDNA' should be a must-read and the huge UK Radio Promotion campaign this weekend should make this release the highest-charting Harmless album ever touch wood! This all bodes well for the forthcoming 40th Anniversary Box Set"! Wish I had time to go to the Ritz this weekend! Ian D
  12. Well, my all time record for one of my packages reaching it's destination came today. UK to Australia by 1st Class post: Posted on 9/11/11 and arrived yesterday morning, some 4 months and 1 week or 17 weeks to get there. Can anyone beat that? Ian D
  13. That's why it was such a ridiculous notion in the first place. They need to repeal their laws IMO. It wouldn't make a whole heap of difference for the majority of our Northern Soul heroes anyway, since they would all have to register with the UK PRS in order to derive a fee which would probably be smaller than the costs of the registration process! Ian D

  15. Yeah right. With a large hook LOL. I have never, ever officially been asked for a list of what I've played in any gig over the last 40 years. I don't know anyone else who has either. Ian D

  17. Believe me, it's a lot more pleasurable then trying to get project like this off the ground LOL. It's a bitch trying to find men's size 11 Jimmy Choos so I have to wear the largest women's size but that creates some uncomfortable chafing just below the ankle. I have a nice array of purple handbags thankyou very much. Ian D
  18. A fantastic package to own Carole and the best investment you've made for years! Countless hours of pleasure listening the greatest Soul music of the 70's and 80's all remixed with love by the most talented remixer of all time. Beats the shit out of a new handbag or a pair of Jimmy Choos LOL... Ian D
  19. That doesn't surprise me one bit. It's becoming commonplace for most companies to just ignore dealing with original master tapes. They're lazy and don't want to spend money baking, transfering and digitizing original masters. Too much hassle and too much cost. Ace/Kent and Numero are the rare exceptions who actually worry about this stuff. Getting the finance to restore original master tapes is right at the bottom of most company's priorities. It'll soon be a lost art. Ian D
  20. Yeah, but I must amplify that P&P is a really eccentric label and, as a result, most of what I put together was from whatever source I could find at the time. Plus, as per usual, I was probably doing a million other things at the time so it's not complete by any means as Plumby pointed out - and I have no idea how I missed the first 2 obvious releases. In fact, I just found a Paper Dolls P&P 7" on my shelves, so that 7" listing is far from definitive.......in fact I probably lifted most of it from here by the looks of it:- https://www.discopatrick.com/home/ Ian D
  21. Me neither. That was news to me as well. Probably worth investigating. Ian D
  22. That coat was rockin'! Very distinctive. I can imagine the cops taking one look at you thinking we'll have to take this guy down LOL. Great early gangsta imagery. Didn't realise it was dark green. Still a snazzy f*ckin' coat. Psycho disappeared completely sometime in the late 80's. He actually decided to cut communication with everyone. I presume he had his reasons which is fine. My mate Liam pulled up next to him in a car a couple of years ago but Psycho just took off with a thumbs up. Another interesting guy. We're all lucky to be alive! Ian D
  23. Hi Roburt, A good place to start:- https://www.discogs.com/artist/Chambers+Brothers%2C+The#t=Releases_All&q=&p=1 Accounting should be relatively straightforward with a list of all the releases. The Chambers Brothers actually weren't that successful outside of the U.S. so there won't be a fortune from foreign sales, but they should still be included in the label's accounting shouldn't they? I bet the original paperwork has long gone! Ian D
