  1. Twelve and a half hours of impeccably brilliant music and 175 beautifully produced, arranged and written songs from the masters of the game in a state-of-the-art box with a 60 page booklet including the full Mighty Three discography......? Go on. Spoil yourself. You deserve it and it'll last you the rest of your life. It's the bargain of the century and probably better than sex! Ian D
  2. Far be it from me to hype one of my own releases Daryl but this is just a beautiful body of work to own. Also, as someone pointed out the other day, at the current Amazon price, it works out at a quid a year for the last 40 years of PIR which has to be a bargain whichever way you look at it. This release is currently pre-selling at the same rate as a normal Harmless release which is pretty incredible in the current climate. You'll be well happy mate. Tell everyone in Hull to buy it! Ian D
  3. LOL, you're about 2 months too late Mike. I'll bear you in mind when we get to the HI Box later this year! Ian D
  4. I just fell over with shock! Ian D
  5. Mmm. Interesting. Last time I was @ Tim Brown's I was enthusing about some of the stuff that was being found by the French guys and I used Leonard Lidell as an example and Browny didn't know it, so I assumed it was unknown at the time. I stand corrected! It sounds perfect to my ears..... Ian D
  6. Brilliant record! I think the French Boogie guys found this one first but it's great Modern Soul to my ears! The production is fantastic! Ian D
  7. I'm rather hoping it's framed in the lounge rather than outside in the shed......... Amazing when you think it was headed to become landfill. That's one lucky rekid.......... Ian D
  8. Yep, don't worry, we'll be pulling all the Jones Girls tracks we don't recognise. We've got hold of a PIR master tape list so we're going through that now! There's loads of stuff on the list including lots of none PIR but Sigma Sound studio recorded masters which have ended up in PIR's possesssion. Looks like it could be a treasure trove. The only problem is that we have to choose carefully as the system for pulling and transferring the tapes is not cheap! Ian D
  9. I found it @ Monarch Pressing plant in LA where I dropped by occasionally. It was in a skip ready to be chucked out and it caught my eye and looked interesting so I snagged it. It was unusual for me to pick up 12" TP's at the time but the name Si Hightower sounded good. Fact is I couldn't get ANYONE interested in it in the late 70's as it was simply too slow for the time. However one guy I used to sell a lot of Deep stuff to at the time was Colin Dilnot from Liverpool and he kept pestering me to sell it and since he was a regular buyer I eventually let him have it. I believe it eventually went to Rod from Colin. It was one of several really good obscure things I had back then but it's certainly one that's sustained well over time. I found both of the Si Hightower singles in South Central not long afterwards along with Charles Russel and other local goodies....... Ian D
  10. Yep. I know the track you're talking about and we're pulling the tapes of that. Any other tips Roburt? Ian D
  11. Finished copies came up today and I'm happy to say that it's absolutely beautiful! I can't even bring myself to open mine LOL. That Amazon price is ridiculously tempting I have to say. I reckon this level of package would normally be in the £60-£70 level! Ian D
  12. Superior Extended Version The Invitations "Look On The Good Side" Silver Blue Records J*Ski Re-Edit https://ajskidiscomix.blogspot.co.uk/2012/03/invitations-look-on-good-side-jski.html Ian D
  13. Probably a later pressing for the UK demand and they saved money by printing in one colour. I would think the blue pressing would be a couple of years later than the original release. I would also think that they'd have done around 2K copies and probably shifted 'em all to the UK. I think that multi-coloured original is pretty rare in the grand scheme of this record....... Ian D
  14. I've always had a soft spot for this....... Milton Wright & The Terra Shirma Strings "The Gallop" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OBt9o4nxLwA Ian D
  15. I'm pretty sure I got mine in the first Soul collection I bought in 1971 which means that it must have been generally available locally from at least a year before. I've never seen anything other other than the blue one and the white promo. The other ones are new to me.... Ian D
  16. Interesting. The blue label version was the one that got mass imported here in the early 70's. I've never seen a copy on the multi-coloured Share label............ Ian D
  17. A massive big shout for everyone who made it to the Baltic Soul Weekender last weekend! Truly one of the biggest events in International Soul circles with 5000 of the friendliest people you could ever hope to meet, the best music, a brilliant vibe throughout and live acts to kill for! So special thanks to Dan, Nussim, Barbara, Andrew and the rest of the crew who make this event a reality. And shout outs to all the deejays who were on throughout the weekend. What a gig ay? Roll on Love Soul Ibiza and Grand Can coming later this year! Well done folks! A massively busy time on the release front with the Philly Box Set out in 2 weeks yikes....note to self: I'd better get that Kenny Gamble interview edited-up this week. Also coming up - a double CD set of killer Gospel funk from Jewel records compiled by Dave Hill and Greg Belson, so watch out for "Holy Spirit" in 5 weeks. And coming up on the show today? Some interesting new slants on some old records, some cracking new re-edits, some obscure killers from the 70's and the usual all-round trip around the last 40+ years of glorious Soul music. Hope you can join me! Smith * Marilyn McCoo & Billy Davis Jr * Audio * Howard Johnson I won't be here in 2 weeks as Copenhagen beckons myself and Paul Schofield for another cracking Uluvka Vodka party which means I'll be in no state to host a radio show because that would be highly unprofessional. So I'll try and figure it out with Al. We shall let you know. Catch you @ 2.00pm today! Try and join the rest of the crowd in the Starpoint chatroom on the home page of the Starpoint website. Laters all...... Ian D X
  18. No probs. I'm developing the next generation of internet conferencing which will hook up a national UK all-nighter every Saturday with each remote attendee allowed to select a record from the comfort of their armchair in their own living rooms. Result: Everyone's a DJ, no one has to travel and you can get pissed at home and be amazed at your own brilliance live on t'internet! Ian D
  19. Yep. There'd generally be something going on somewhere most nights of the week in the 70's whereas most events these days have to target weekends because of the age and responsibilities of the attendees. Which means everyone wants a Friday and Saturday. Covenience of location is another factor with many people not wanting to travel far. It'll probably get WORSE LOL..... Ian D
  20. I found a pink original on Bradford Market circa '75 for 10p. Ian D
  21. Ludicrous. Even in the 70's when the scene was at it's most populous there still wasn't enough people to risk clashing local nights. Ian D
  22. I wouldn't even pay £10 for that. It's well battered. What's the point in paying megabucks for something without a basic aesethic beauty or even the ability to listen to it properly? $724 bucks for a piece of battered plastic? Aren't there enough new unplayed copies anyway? Ian D
  23. Not rushed Ian LOL. Both the Moulton package and the 10 CD box set were actually delayed! Moulton should've been out in January and the box set for February, so, as my boss keeps on telling me, I'm waaaaay behind! However, yes, I am trying to get as many releases as possible out whilst the market is still holding up. Who knows what'll happen in another couple of years or so.......? Ian D
