  3. Yep. Sorry fellas. The usual last-minute licensing snafus which seem to plague my life. Trying to sort it now. Hopefully will all work out. Glamourous life this music biz....... Ian D
  4. Ah. I wondered about that. There must have been some cross-pollination going on. I defy anyone to listen to Felice Taylor's "I Feel Love Coming On" and not think it was a Detroit production on first listen. This clip also features the instrumental.... Felice Taylor "I Feel Love Coming On" Now I'm beginning to get an inkling as to where Barry White was getting his education. Fascinating stuff. Ian D
  5. Good question. Both solid Motownesque pounders. I presume these were West Coast recordings. A tantalising scenario if any meat can be found on the theory. I was thinking the other day that the general arrangements on Bronco's output were remarkably Motown, especially Felice Taylor. Made me wonder if any moonlighting was going on with the West Coast Motown guys? Wouldn't surprise me one bit if there was..... Ian D
  6. To me LPs have dropped like a stone over the last few years to the point now where they represent great value for the price. Postage charges from the U.S. are killing off buying albums from there, so the UK dealers look like a bargain option at the moment. Ian D
  7. If you can do decent vinyl to WAV that'd be handy Steve! Ian D
  8. Yep, another 6 Backbeats are coming up and, as usual, I'm struggling for some masters. Can anyone help with any of these please? 9. I don't even know the record but I can kinda tell that if Jocko really wants it, he'll probably go to £70....... Ian D
  10. LOL, that's pushing it a bit too far surely? I've had multiple copies of many desirable records which all pretty much look and play the same but I've not bumped into many people that are a carbon copy of me thank god...... Ian D
  11. Well on this one we licensed from a wider range of sources, so it has a much wider range than the previous two. Mind you, we had to follow 'Philadelphia International Classics: The Tom Moulton Remixes' so the bar was set pretty high for this one! Ian D
  12. No one ever said A&Ring Tom Moulton would be easy. However, in reality, it's all the other stuff that's difficult. Clearances, legals, approvals, administration etc, etc. Each one of these albums takes a year to put together minimum. But, oh so worth it when it all culminates in a perfect package. This album is shaping up to be an absolute monster. 150 promos went out today to all the key radio and press, so expect to hear "Soul Recession" on the radio from tomorrow. A lovely way to ease into spring! Ian D
  13. Are we talking "Bet You If You Ask Around" here? I never really got this. Both the Quadrophonics and Velvet recordings sound more New York or Philly to me. Were these Chicago recordings? Ian D
  14. Yep, good move! There is no way they'll be able to maintain that price for much longer mate. Even Amazon have to make a profit LOL. I'll send you a promo for Bettye Swann too. I think she'll be knocked out when she hears how Moulton has crafted her 2 killer Atlantic tracks. Just stunning. Both of 'em! Ian D
  15. Promos just arrived. What a fantastic package this is! Copies will be mailed to radio tomorrow and press on Monday. I think this release will tick a lot of boxes in a lot of different areas. Hopefully it'll be one of the soundtracks to the summer! Pretty staggering that it's already Top 10 in Amazon's 'Dance & Electronic' chart and the 345th best-selling album in the UK and no one's even had a promo yet! Just wait till radio and press kick in. Also, a quick tip: it's currently a mere £9.00 including delivery on Amazon which is a ridiculously great price. This will jump to a more realistic £12-£15 pretty soon as the dealer price is £7.50 so Amazon aren't making jack on this. Right now it's a steal! Just saying like...... https://www.amazon.co.uk/Philly-Re-Grooved-Moulton-Remixes-Master/dp/B00AR1VU06/ref=sr_1_1?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1366313246&sr=1-1&keywords=philly+re-grooved+3 Get in there! Ian D
  16. I went to that gig. Believe it or not, the stage wasn't big enough to handle the space ship....... Ian D
  17. Coming in September - all Philly Re-Grooved Vols 1,2 & 3 in a box and on 12" vinyl Steve....... Ian D
  18. Yep! Jay's the Philly Re-Grooved front man and close personal friend! Ian D
  19. I know. I put 'em there. They're specially edited for a quick fix. But the real beauty is what's contained on those tapes. Blue Magic's "Look Me Up" seems to metamorphise into "Strange" by the Tradewinds (which always was MFSB to my ears). And did that riff on the Salsoul Orchestra's "Dance A Little Bit Closer" actually start with the Modulations' "I Can't Fight Your Love"? Questions, questions..... Ian D
  20. When we started the Philly Re-Grooved series back in 2011 it was because we had access to the Philly Groove catalogue and access to Tom Moulton. The success of ‘Philly Re-Grooved Vol 1’, then led to ‘Philly Re-Grooved Vol 2’ which then made us hassle Philadelphia International which then led to ‘Philadelphia International Classics: The Tom Moulton Remixes’ and it suddenly felt like we were really in the Philly music business for real. So, what next? We discussed with Moulton what he wanted to do next and, almost as importantly, what multi-track tapes could we get access to? The success of the previous 3 Harmless Tom Moulton releases opened a lot of doors and suddenly multi-tracks that had been under lock and key for the last four decades suddenly seemed tantalizingly close. So we started looking at a lot of stuff, some easier than others but, nonetheless, each and every track was hand-picked by the master. The result? Quite simply, one of the greatest albums we’ve ever heard. So good, we made it a double and added a couple more recent Philly recorded goodies for good measure. So get ready for a musical experience you won’t ever forget………… Philly Re-Grooved Volume 3: More From The Master: The Tom Moulton Remixes CD1 1. 22. Very sad news. I just heard that Vincent Montana Jr passed away today, right as I was putting my show together. By co-incidence I was programming a whole heap of the new Tom Moulton Philly Re-Grooved Vol 3 remixes, virtually all of which featured Vincent, so he was running all through the show anyway. This news adds a lot of poignancy to today’s show, so we’ll be running a Vincent Montana Jr tribute throughout the whole show as a mark of respect to one of the greatest arrangers in dance music history. He could play mean vibes too! RIP Vincent. We love you. On the show this week, we have a whole heap of exclusives including some previews of several brand new Tom Moulton remixes from the forthcoming Philly Re-Grooved Vol 3 which is the best one yet and, of course, the usual odyssey through the last 5 decades of glorious Soul music with some killer songs for a lazy Sunday afternoon. Obviously today’s show is gonna feature a lot of Philly OK!
