  1. Ernie Andrews - a leather-wearing, motorbike-riding rocker who likes looking at fish? Something just doesn't seem to compute here LOL..... Ian D
  2. Bloody hell. Such poisonous diatribes aganst the ginger one. I left off this thread 'cos I didn't see much point in getting involved in a Mick Hucknall slag-off. But having just read a 6 page Bobby Bland article in in this month's Mojo including some great photos by Andy Fallon, a Bobby Bland interview by Mick Hucknall which was dead interesting, some other coverage by Andria Lisle and a '4 Steps To Bobby' buying guide from Geoff Brown, I'd say that this has probably garnished more publicity for Bobby Bland than he's managed for the majority of his life to date. Plus it get's him in front of 120,000 readers who wouldn't normally be that interested in BB. The only people who seem to have a problem with all this are on here LOL. Bobby Bland certainly doesn't, believe me. Ian D
  3. Haha LOL! I think that qualifies as someone's bargain of the century Pete. Got to be the winner to date in terms of regret surely. Current book price on Lester Tipton is £3,500 whereas that same 4g's of whizz will probably still be £40 I guess. So that's a net loss of £3,460 over 30 years. Difficult to beat that I reckon........ And the record's still massively rare! Can anyone beat that? Ian D
  4. Trust me not to read the small print. My collection's far superior under those conditions! In fact I've got tons of stuff he hasn't got! I thought it was odd that he wasn't listing labels/numbers etc....... Ian D
  5. Ending later today chaps. Will be loading more on tonight....... Dunno how anyone finds anythng on E-Bay these days 'cos it took me ages to locate these LOL.... https://search.ebay.co.uk/_W0QQsassZrockthedancefloor Ian D
  6. What I don't get is the guy indicates that he hasn't been buying 45's that long - a couple of years in fact. He seems to have accumulated a lot of titles in a short space of time which seems odd to say to least. I haven't gone through the whole lot but a 10 minute browse was enough to impress me. You'd have thought a lot of the Northern titles would have been difficult to dig up wouldn't you? Unless the guy's a millionaire of course...... How was Saturday? Ian D
  7. That's actually a very good idea! "Records I Have Loved And Lost". Dot com. You could have the scans with a soundfile and a nice little comment box for your memories of the record in question. I like it mate! Ian D
  8. Haha LOL! That's funny Alan. Not only that, but they'd have to deal with the dulcit tones of deepest Rotherham - shouts in the background "Sithee, wilst tha put wood in't ole"? That's 'close the door' for the unititiated LOL............ Ian D
  9. Glad you mentioned that Robin. Even if it hurts to let a record go, it's not so bad if it goes to someone who can really use it. In fact, many times I've got rid of stuff which I never play anymore simply because it's an unwanted luxury to have it sitting on a shelf gathering dust. I'd much rather 'recycle' a record and get it to someone who will either play it or cherish it more than me. Ian D
  10. Yeah, wishful thinking Johnny. The way the guy's listed everything is weird 'cos he hasn't included any label info and he has a ton of awful pop on there too - https://users.telenet.be/60spop/Index.htm. A shame really. It'd be great if an unknown Magicians Villa 708 suddenly turned up LOL... 701 - Ozz And His Sperlings - Mo Jo Hanna / The Broadway Earthquake 702 - Ozz And His Sperlings - Dance (Holes In Your Shoes) / I Can't Jerk 703 - The Magicians - Love, Lets Try Again / Dance (Holes In Your Shoes) 704 - The Magicians - Is It All Gone? / Why Do I Do These Foolish Things 705 - The Checkerboard Squares - Double Cookin' / A Day In Sausalito 706 - The Magicians - Keep Your Hands Off (My Baby) / Why Must You Cry (I Deeply Love You) 707 - Performers - Darling I'm So Thankful / I'll Always Love You. Is that Performers record any good? Ian D
  11. Wow, weird you should bring the Magicians up Mark 'cos I was looking at the bloke's 60's collection which I've posted up on here (elsewhere in this section) and there's a ton of Magicians records on his list and I only know about 3 of em.... MAGICIANS ABOUT MY LOVE 1966 MAGICIANS AN INVITATION TO CRY 1965 MAGICIANS ANGEL ON THE CORNER 1966 MAGICIANS BACK DOOR MAN 1967 MAGICIANS DOUBLE GOOD FEELING 1967 MAGICIANS I WON'T BE THERE TOMORROW 1967 MAGICIANS I'D LIKE TO KNOW 1966 MAGICIANS I'LL TELL THE WORLD ABOUT YOU 1966 MAGICIANS INVITATION TO CRY 1966 MAGICIANS IS IT ALL GONE 1966 MAGICIANS LADY FINGERS 1967 MAGICIANS PAINTING ON WOOD 1967 MAGICIANS RAIN DON'T FALL ON ME NO MORE 1967 MAGICIANS THAT'S WHAT LOVE IS MADE OF 1967 MAGICIANS WHO DO YOU LOVE 1967 MAGICIANS YOU'RE SO FINE 1967 Makes you wonder if there's any other goodies in there - I always loved "Is It All Gone" - I had a cracked copy which played fine for years but it just never broke for me back in the day........ Ian D
  12. And I wonder whether that was the one I found at Chris Peakes house in L.A. in '76 LOL......... Dig out the list Malc 'cos there'll be a few nightmares there no doubt...... Talking of which, does anyone on here have a copy of my 'Vinyl Junky's" list from '77 I think? It was an 80 page booklet with 1000's of records listed all cheap. Frightening............. Ian D
  13. My beautiful UK white promo went to Tim Brown along with the rest of my English, so I know exactly how you feel Steve! At least with a lot of the UK gear, you know it'll probably appear again soon when someone's collection come up, whereas with some of the US ones it could be anybody's guess...... Ian D
  14. Nope Dave, that definitely sounds like a moment of madness to me. I don't even know the Vivian Carol Merben record but I do know that neither the Tomangoes or Cecil Washington grow on trees LOL...... A major nightmare inducer for sure. I still regret losing my Tomangoes in a swap deal in the 70's and I've never had another real one since...... Commiserations mate. I'd be beating myself up too! Ian D
  15. Out of curiosity, what did you sell it for Dave? I'm just computing what was probably a one-off collection and 17 years of collecting, not that I want to make you feel even worse! I hear stories of a Detroit collector that has a full run of U.S. Motown and I'm sure there's a couple of complete UK Motown collections, but I'm curious as to what a full UK collection would be valued at these days. Very painful though mate......... Ian D
  16. Well I don't know that one Chris. Just thought I found one but it's gone.... https://www.recordsbymail.com/static/artist...POWERED%20CLOCK Was it any good? I'm intrigued...... Ian D
  17. Now this is what I call a collection! This guy's a vinyl nut. The amount of Northern he has is ridiculous if he's genuine - and I think he is. TONS of stuff tucked away in there which I guess goes to show that there's still plenty of stuff out there in private collections..... https://users.telenet.be/60spop/Index.htm Ian D
  18. Now here's someone who has their priorities right. Steve, your attitude is much too sensible for 'Vinyl Therapy' LOL..... Quite right too: your health is your wealth at the end of the day. And there were a few black Patti & The Emblems around back in the day when it was a £2 'in every box' type record, I seem to remember......... Ian D
  19. Hey, that's weird....? How come we have more replies than views? How is that possible? Has the view counter stuck or something.........? Oops, gotta go for a cuppa.... Ian D
  20. Well that just serves ginger-minge right LOL! That Ron got away with bloody murder back in the day so he had it coming and he got well and truly served there LOL. That'll make the bugger realise the consequences of his actions 'cos I bet he's really tormented by that to this day! Now THAT is theraputic LOL.... Ian D
  21. Ouch! Now that's EXACTLY the stuff of horror stories! My commiserations Ken. Never has the title of a record been more appropriate! I feel your pain. Ian D
  22. It's theraputic Eddie! Your pain is good for the well-being of all of us LOL...... But the Larry Atkins on Romark is a bit difficult to bear. If it's any consolation at all, I had both the Ty Karims, a Virginia Blakely, a Delilah Moore (one of the Modern ones I sold to Pat) and a Chico Lamarr I sold to Tim Brown. And you're right, this isn't really helping is it? Who's bloody idea was this??????? Ian D
  23. Aha Mr Senior, I thought you'd pop up on this! I STILL have all those nice white-promo 12"'s I used to buy off you in the 70's LOL... Amazing how having a few copies of something makes you sell 'em too cheap at the time.......and then they come back to haunt you as a painful memory years later..... EXACTLY what this thread is all about LOL........ My God. No one's gonna thank me for this are they........? Ian D
  24. Harry's never gonna hear the last of this is he Di? And I haven't even started on him yet LOL...I thought I'd let him revel in his moment of glory but I'm coming in for the kill next week when we should have been in LA raising hell! Still a great story though and there's deffo a screenplay in it. I don't know if Dean Cavannaugh caught the story but he'd love it. So maybe we can still get that dosh out of the Weinsteins LOL.... Good. Things warming up nicely now.....! Ian D
  25. Clandestine meetings in a damp basement? I wish I'd thought of that LOL.... OK, then Jo, I'll PAY for the stories godammit! And the way that I'll pay is by gauranteeing a theraputic session right here on SS. Yep, that's right folks, you too can get rid of those nightmares forever by pouring out your hidden, submerged memories and secret fears on this very thread. It's called 'Vinyl Therapy". A sort of A.A. for painful record experiences, which we need to log for posterity. As I said to Harry, it may be painfull to some but it's absolutely cathartic and you will ultimately emerge from the experience a more relaxed and well-rounded young woman knowing that you have shared your experiences with others. So, as Al Pacino stated several times in his role as Puerto-Rican gangster Carlito Berganzi (where he displays the duplicity and subsequent torment between his reformed spirit and the endless seduction of the street), in Brian DePalma's superbly directed "Carlito's Way"........... Here comes the PAIN........" Ian D
