  1. Will give you another bump on the Original Mastercuts show which is 2.00-4.00pm Sunday's, so a good plug a few hours before your show - we'll give you a shout in our Northern bit which Al's already put together..... The O'Jays - I'll Never Forget You Continental Four - The Way I Love You Chris Farlowe - Don't Just Look at Me Roscoe Shelton - You're The Dream Dennis D'ell - Better Use Your Head Charades - Key To My Happiness The Vibrations - Gonna Get Along Without You Now Although why he's playing Dennis D'ell I'll never know! Best, Ian D
  2. Haha LOL. If only Malc..... Not much dosh in't record business nowdays mate unless you're called Johnny or Tim LOL..... Ian D
  3. Yep, that's the one Kevin. I shudder to think what's listed in there 'cos they were all so cheap! If you find any real clunkers in there then pray tell......... Ian D
  4. Wah-Hey! That's the one Kevin. Haven't seen it for about 30 odd years! There should be some goodies in there and all cheap! Ian D
  5. 'Doing a doddy in the matress'..............? Is that Yorkshire vernacular for having a quick one off the wrist in bed........? Ian D
  6. Murderbeat says: I'm Getting On Life - Wombat Surrounded By A Ray Of Sunshine - Samantha Jones What Love Brings - Kenny Bernard Turning My Heartbeat Up - The MVP's All poppy. All great. Hated Wombat when it was was played but love it now. Weird ay? Ian D
  7. Got one here - UK CBS 12" A13 1223 with the full 8.13 version on. It was the U.S. label 'Mel Bay' which got my attention leading me to wonder whether Benny issued it himself on a small label before Columbia picked it up......? I'd sure be interested in seeing a Mel Bay 12" that's for sure. Stranger things have happened. I found a U.S. 12" of "Nightlife" by Blair on a small label out of Buffalo called Solar Sounds a couple of years ago so I guess anything's possible..... Ian D
  8. I wouldn't moan too much if yer living in Spain and hanging around on the beach Snooky! Given the choice of owning a Robbie Lawson but having to live in rainy old England (where it's 75 degrees as I write this), or not owning a Robbie Lawson and hanging on the beach in Spain, I know which one I'd go for LOL.... Anyway, too risky having rare records in Spain with the sun and all. Who wants a slightly sun-warped Robbie Lawson anyway....? And I'll have that Tobi Legend if you like. Dave's rich enough LOL........ Ian D
  9. I dunno Nocker. He's gone to an awful lot of trouble listing 'em all and building a bespoke website. I just stumbled into this when I was looking for something else and it struck me as curious..... Ian D
  10. Looks like she learnt her moves from 'Mad Lizzie' who used to be on TV AM in the 80's LOL..... Ian D
  11. Pretty great double-sider as well and rare as hell IMO. I never found a copy in years of trawling............. Ian D
  12. Don't know it Kev. The Montanas were a horrible white pop group who made a record called "She Let's Her Hair Down When The Sun Comes Up" or something like weren't they? I didn't like the Velours version and I bet the Montanas version sucks big-time. The fact that you said you couldn't dance to it and it had a strange beat kinda gave that one away LOL...... But I am curious. Anyone gotta clip? Ian D
  13. Very true billb! Great record. I think "I'm Gonna Change" has the edge, although I made sure that I got that Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons package that Warners put out a while back, which DOESN'T have "I'm Gonna Change" on but does have "The Night" on. Both the Four Seasons and Frankie Valli solo stuff was great - all eras. And I actually like "Who Loves You". So what's that all about.......? I think it's the key changes, the chords, the harmony's and arrangement on it. What a GREAT f&%kin' record. It's just that I could never, like, actually admit that..............especially on here........... Ian D
  14. Murderbeat says:- I Can't Help Loving You - Paul Anka Dance Dance Dance - The Casualeers I'm Gonna Change - The Four Seasons Afternoon Of The Rhino - The Mike Post Coalition I get filled with elation whenever I hear 'em. Just GREAT Northern soul in every case and all lily-white acts, so I shouldn't really like 'em 'cos that wouldn't be very credible would it? But if I wanna get revved-up for a night out I'll often whack these on early doors then hit the town running LOL... Ian D
  15. Blimey. Bobby Williams has shot up several hundred per cent since back in the day. Is it played anywhere 'cos I remember it being really fast.....? Used to be a two quid special...... Ian D
  16. Yep, that sounds like the one Kevin. Lightish blue with a black overprint and like a mini book I seem to recollect. Does it have a psychedelic-type picture of a vinyl junky on the front LOL? I'm sure there's quite a few future goodies in there but I can't remember what they were..... If there's any obvious cheapo clinkers in there (and there will be) I'm sure you'll let me know LOL..... Ian D
  17. Ouch! I feel the pain mate. Can you believe those prices too.......? Ever heard Darrow Fletcher's "The Pain Gets A Little Deeper" Malc....? Ian D PS I just flogged Ila Vann yesterday for £85 LOL.....
  18. Haha LOL. If you had a "New Killer Joe" - Benny Golson on a label called Mel Bay, I reckon that's rarer than Willie Kendricks! I've never heard of it and I know about this stuff (mostly). I wasn't aware of a U.S. 12" - I thought the ONLY 12" was the UK one. I was under the impression that it was a Columbia recording as we first started playing it of the U.S. Columbia album and then it was issued on UK CBS on 12"........ Are you sure you weren't temporarily mad mate? Ian D
  19. You must have been going through some temporary mental illness Steve. A UK released 12" for an issue of Willie Kendicks? This thread just gets weirder and weirder.......... What next? A Slade 7" UK hit for a Robbie Lawson anyone? Ian D
  20. Probably is - in fact, I can't personaly think of anything worse really LOL. Bobby Bland seems quite complimentary about it though - "You're phrasing was good," Bland proclaims. "It's not the same phrasing as mine, but you did one helluva job!" Or do we think he was just saying that LOL? Ian D
  21. It's happened to all of us Bri. I still remember "Cool Off" and "Love On A Rampage" on one of your lists for 30p apiece mate! Is that hangover any better yet? Did you feel the knife twist? Ian D
  22. Including Catherine Zeta-Jones the jammy bugger......... That Charlie Drake imagery and oodles of dosh really seems to work for him........ But serenading 'em with Bobby Bland tunes.........? Who had thought that would work........? Ian D
  23. Well, just sold it for well over double that, but it is listed in the guide @ £150 or thereabouts, so the £50 one looks like a bargain........ I found it in Croydon recently for 10p! Ian D
  24. That's what I love about this scene LOL. It's the sheer poetry of a literary mind delivered in a firm, yet, strangely authoritive fashion.......... Ian D
  25. Well, that's 'cos it's true Mike. When was the last time you saw a 6 page article on Bobby Bland in one of the world's most popular magazines? Funnily enough, I'm not into either Bobby Bland or Mick Hucknall, so it's immaterial to me. I just think think it's kinda easy to be pompous about it. They're both musicians, so why not just leave 'em to it? Bobby Bland will undoubtably gain a lot of new fans as a result of all this and Mick Hucknall will probably lose a few as it'll be too deep for his mainline audience. Ian D
