  1. The quality of the album doesn't help at all. They've got so many tracks squeezed on there there's hardly any width the album track and it sounds like it's been badly mastered as well. Somewhere in all that noise there's a great track! Ian D
  2. All my reggae 45's are 70's releases mainly, all mint and some nice bits and pieces including some good obscure reggae Soul covers - Lloyd Chalmers "I'm Gonna Love You A Little Bit More Baby" (Barry White), Cedric Brooks "South African Reggae" (Hamilton Bohannon)and a GREAT version of the Kinks "Lola" by Nicky Thomas on Trojan. Probably not enough raries there to make it worthwhile though.......... Apparently original Dub is the new Northern Soul........... Ian D
  3. That wouldn't be the Bogue that's apparently imitating me would it? Ian D
  4. I think that's exactly what'll happen. Record collectors invariably turn into paranoid recluses, lose all their friends and relations because of their vinyl obsession, have disgusting levels of personal hygiene and usually die when a shelf-load of records falls on 'em. But I also think that there'll be plenty of fresh young collectors from the USA and Europe to snap 'em up too! The legacy will live on but maybe in another part of the world. In the meantime there's a couple of old 60's mods around the corner from me with brilliant collections who look like they're on their last legs. Might be the time to take 'em out for a long weekend to 're-live their youth' LOL. That should do the trick............... Ian D
  5. Yeah, but that induces a sort of hypnotic trance like effect which makes you much more pliable in terms of 'vinyl desire'. We WANT you to watch the records going round and round! Especially if it's a £3K record LOL..... Ian D

  7. Haha LOL! Johnny 'Big Brother' Manship is watching your every move via electronic 'canny buyers' software! I'd do exactly the same thing. Must be fascinating to analyse the science of Northern Soul collecting........ Ian D
  8. Absolutely LOL. Especially in this day and age. That's a fantastic resource you have at your disposal John. Well done for forward thinking. I reckon that system will get you about 80% of the way there but how can anyone calculate against the growth curve of, say, a Lee Fields LOL......? I reckon science can get us maybe 80% of the way, but that infernal random factor nails us in the balls everytime doesn't it? But boy, 80% of the way there is a significant advantage in today's market. I'm fascinated by record prices right now. They're better than a pacemaker LOL.... Ian D
  9. OK, easy solution is preserve the £940, get yer arse down here, hand over the dosh and then plunder my Reggae collection. What else do you need to know? All first pressings LOL - I checked 'em - they still have the original 'Beverly's' stickers on 'em plus I nearly got lynched trying to buy 'em until the Montego Bay cab driver sorted things out LOL..... F*%k the welchers Pete. Come down here and I'll put a smile on your face. Don't forget the £940 OK? Ian D
  10. Now you tell us Beeks! The fact that you once lived in Penrhyndeudraeth explains everything! At one time it would've been a rather large plastic ball which would decend on you for voicing your opinions, and now it's just rotund Northern oldies! Consider yourself lucky! Ian D
  11. And presumably this was a whole different U.S. Right-On label to the Total Eclipses label? Ian D
  12. Well you'll definitely know more than me. They've been on the shelves since I bought 'em in Jamaica 30 odd years ago and just lately a few people have been asking if I've got any, so I thought I'd better do an audit. Will type up a list - there's only around 30-40 so shouldn't take me too long. Will PM you when I'm done. Many thanks, Ian D
  13. Great! Will zap ya the invoice for 'marketing services' in the post then............ Ian D
  14. Wow, didn't know it had been issued on President - new one on me. You don't collect original Dub reggae albums do you Pete? I've got a bunch of 30-40 original JA labels great dub albums - King Tubby, African Dub 1,2 & 3, Congas orig and lots of Joe Gibbs gear but again I don't really know what they're worth these days......? Ian D
  15. Oh and here's what they look like: [attachmen t=50836:Joe_Bataan_3.jpg] Just the two left.....hurry up - no more after these last 2........! Ian D
  16. Only 2 copies left now folks! First come first served.......... Ian D
  17. I think mine went to Pat Brady in the late 80's along with about 200 other prime 70's goodies which I now look at with envy on various lists LOL..... I think I may have got £20 for the 4 Tracks and a tenner for Delilah Moore on Middle Earth back then, ouch! Ian D
  18. Well in that case my remaining 6 copies of Joe Bataan's "Contintental Square Dance" on the Sales thread should be bargain of the century then (shameless plug but if they want fast they've got it with that one)! So mid-tempo shuffling is not in vogue right now then LOL......? Ian D
  19. I live in reality mate not the hotbox insanity LOL.....£300 is a great price for that record but it is one of my all-time faves! Sure doesn't seem to show up that much......... Had it a couple of times in the 70's and 80's grrrr....... Ian D
  20. Nowt at all in my memory. I seem to remember it being around just before I went to the states in '76 and then never heard much more about it.......... Ian D
  21. Fabulous record which never quite broke for me in the 70's! Always loved it - beautiful production and catchy. If Lee Fields is £750 then this should be £1500 IMO! Ian D
  22. Yep, we did it as a limited-edition 7" to promote Eddie Piller's Salsoul "Crossover Flavas" album which is also worth picking up IMO! Cheers for your comments Mark - always nice to know one's efforts are appreciated! Best, Ian D
  23. Just routing through a shelf and I stumbled across 8 copies of a one-off 7" Salsoul pressing we did in 2004 on Joe Bataan of the brilliant, pure Northern "Continental Square Dance" (the original version of "Laso Square" - Laso) and the mid-tempo Latin-Soul "Johnny". I can't remember how many we did - I think it was only 250 and most of those went immediately and on export. So if you don't have it, then better grab it now as there aren't any more. £15.00 apiece inc P&P. If ya want one then PM me. First eight get the goodies then that's it I'm afraid. Here are the clips (my own label so should be OK here):- "Continental Square Dance" - Joe Bataan 17_Continental_Square_Dance__Original_7_____.mp3 "Johnny" - Joe Bataan 07_Johnny.mp3 As good a double-sider as I've ever heard! Good luck! Ian D 17_Continental_Square_Dance__Original_7_____.mp3 07_Johnny.mp3
