  1. Mmmmm. Let me get this straight Soulfulmouse, are you saying that John put you in a hotel and then subjected you to sexually depraved visual images and then relieved you of your money whilst you were at an impressionable age................? And then gave you a free pack of cards LOL? That's just bloody typical of these Scottish media types.......! Just added to the ever-expanding dossier we have on this Mr Anderson........... Ian D
  2. Right! That's three of us so far. I suggest we all get a proper psychological evaluation done and get the "Post Traumatic Soul Bowl Syndrome" established as a bona-fide symptom of the long-term physiological damage of trying to get through to Soul Bowl under extremely difficult circumstances...... Tell John to get his cheque book out Stevie G...........! Ian D
  3. Brilliant Dave. Now we can launch a class action LOL.......... I don't like the sound of the circular saw bit though. Come to think of it, I also wrecked one car engine and totalled another completely on the way back from bloody Norfolk. He owes me millions............. Ian D
  4. Whew. Just found in the vaults. A WONDERFUL unreleased Tom Moulton mix of the People's Choice' "Lost & Found" (originally U.S. Phillips 40615). Pure Northern brilliance IMO - just listen to the production on this - love the great drum work, the harmonies and Frankie Brunson's vocals as well! Top friggin' sound. Anyone who loves early Philly pounders should dig this.......... People's Choice "Lost And Found" - Unreleased Tom Moulton Mix https://www.zshare.net/audio/5310990649e9318e/ Have permission to post. Merry Xmas to everyone from Reid Whitelaw (co-incidentaly co-writer on Magic Night's "If You And I Had Never Met" and the Moment of Truth releases), myself and Philly Groove Records! Have a stonkin' holiday! Ian D
  5. Found on a truly terrible Salsoul Christmas Jollies album a few years back but a nice seasonal mid-tempo tune nonetheless. Has a sort of "Hold Back The Night" early Philly feel to it plus Vince Montana's daughter on vocals..... ...anyway it's Christmassy.... The Salsoul Orchestra feat Denise Montana "Merry Christmas All" https://www.zshare.net/audio/53059995225fcde9/ Have permission to post Mods. Happy Xmas! Ian D
  6. Absolutely. The 8.30am Thursday (or was it Friday) call was very stressfull. Especially if I was on the road and had to use a telephone box. This just brought back memories of freezing my balls off somewhere in a phone box, constantly being harrassed by other people wanting to use the phone box whilst getting a constant engaged signal......... Does John understand the sheer psychological trauma he put people through I wonder? I'm still suffering the nightmares some 35 years later. I think it's called "Post Trumatic Soul Bowl Syndrome" or something innit? Anyway I'm suing the tight Scottish git for not installing several lines! Ian D
  7. LOL, trust you to choose my favourite vocalist. It works the other way too:- Receptionist - Hey boss I've got that Paul Anka on the phone. Studio Manager - What of it? Receptionist - He is running late. Are we OK to hold the session for him? Studio Manager - Tell him not to bother. Receptionist - Eh? Studio Manager - Todays the day musicians will shine. 40 years later someone bumps into a Mediasound acetate that has the instrumental version of " Can't Help Loving You"................ Ian D

  9. I think this has a whole lotta soul.......in fact, a vocal would probably spoil it....... Young Holt Unlimited "California Montage" https://www.zshare.net/audio/530628510aecf3ae/ Ian D
  10. Try telling that to Young Holt Unlimited when they made "California Montage"! Ian D

  12. Me too, but I think "Love's Theme" puts it into a different class. Hell of tune now! Ian D
  13. LOL, yep, gravity can be a bitch even if you're a Los Angeles Soul Goddess....... Ian D
  14. Yep, I specialised in using the "is your left boob hoisted unnaturally high my dear" line with some success it has to be said....... Ian D
  15. Yep, best one I've ever heard for pure soul content! Ian D
  16. Yer welcome Marcus! Has been booming out of the speakers @ Dewhirst Towers this week.......... Ian D
  17. It was a valid question Malc. We know she's a Los Angeles Soul Goddess with at least one well-rounded and extremely highly-hitched left boob which she very skilfully framed with arrangement of her left arm and hand. I just felt sorry for the other one.............. Ian D
  18. Dammit, it's Xmas, let's hear a stormer from the Motown vaults! Doesn't get any better than this......... The Funk Brothers "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" Inst (Mixed With Strings Waaaay Upfront) https://www.zshare.net/audio/53042779889363ee/ Many thanks to Steve Edgar for putting me on to this version. Pure brilliance...... Ian D
  19. A lovely little pre Xmas warm-up this week, where I'll be joined by my old partner in crime Alan Champ for another 2 hours of beautifully sublime Soul music spanning 4 decades and a smorgasbord of genres from uplifting House & Garage, Soulful Disco, Irresistible 80's, Northern Soul, Modern Soul, Crossover Soul, Killer Slowies and Uplifting Gems put together EVERY WEEK and played LIVE every Sunday afternoon between 2.00-4.00pm and repeated throughout the week on www.starpointradio.com. And coming up this week....... Love Unlimited Orchestra feat Brownstone, John Simeone, Caroline Crawford, Ray Simpson, Diana Ross, Mosely & Johnson, The Pasadenas, Endia Johnson, Bootsy's Rubber Band, Silver Platinum, Cheryl Lynn, The Dynamic Tints, Clyde Brown, Ty Karim, The 5th Dimension, George & Gwen McCrae, The Funk Brothers, Garland Green, Felice Taylor, The O'Jays, 7 Samurai, Faze Action, The Neville Brothers, Dooley Silverspoon & Jeannie Burton and Jimmy & Vella Cameron Very eclectic and very tasty..... See you @ 2.00pm! Ian D
  20. Bump! If you haven't heard this yet, then click the link. Probably the best record I've heard all year with some storming vocals and a song to die for. Not Northern Soul but it is Barry White and it's a work of art IMO..... Ian D
  21. Ian D
  22. Well Christmas came slightly early this year so I treated myself to a copy of the "The Complete Ty Karim: Los Angeles Soul Goddess". A blinding release and obviously should be in every fanatical Soul fans collection! Full marks to Ady and the Ace/Kent team for the Soul release of the year IMO! Just one slightly perturbing issue surfaced however............. As I was listening to the mighty impressive lungs of Ms Karim, I thought I'd take a closer look at her. So I looked @ the cover and couldn't help noticing the interesting placement of her left boob. Is it really that high up? Or was she bunching it up with the strategic positioning of her left arm? And where's her right one? Questions, questions........ Hell of a lung on her anyway! Essential purchase! Also, many thanks and the highest regards to Mark Bicknell for hosting one of Starpoint Radio's most-listened to shows - The Soul Shack. Great stuff Mark, we'll miss you on Sundays and best for the future! Ian D
  23. LOL, cue a mental vision of a Grandad pointing to a beautifully framed presentation display of a wooden tile above the fireplace and saying to his grandson "Does tha know what that is lad?"................. Ian D
  24. I wasn't over keen on "Bubblegum Breakthrough" when it was first played but I absolutely love it now! I remember hearing it virtually everywhere circa '73 so a big record without a doubt. Everything but the kitchen sink is on there and the record is a masterpiece of instrumentation. Sounds much better these days! Instrumentals used to be massively popular and would break up the nights brilliantly - especially if the vocal side was also big at the time. There was nothing like hearing a huge instrumental version LOUD. My faves were:- "Crying Over You" - Duke Browner/The Kaddo Strings "Nothing But Love" - John Rhys/the Tartans "Let's Have A Love-In" - Wingate Love-In Strings "The Way You've Been Acting Lately" - Al Kent "Psychedelic Soul" Pt 2 - Saxie Russell "R'n'B Time" - Rodney Jones Instrumentals were one of the things which inspired me when I got on the scene. I couldn't believe the quality of the string sections on these little records. The fact that small Detroit labels like Ric-Tic, Golden World, Impact and Inferno had full string sections on 'em blew my mind at the time. Startling musicianship........ Ian D
  25. I'm posting this on here because a lot of people like the walrus of luuuurve. So for those of you of you who have always wondered what a vocal would be like on "Love's Theme", well here it is courtesy of Neil @ https://atomixextendedcuts.blogspot.com/200...x-re-shape.html. The Love Unlimited Orchestra/Brownstone - "Love's Theme"/"If You Love Me" https://www.zshare.net/audio/1248154383bc9499/ Just brilliant! Enjoy....... Merry Xmas! Ian D
