OK, now we're rockin' and rolling. Will get back to everyone with delivery details etc but I've got a radio show to do now, so it'll be later tonight OK..... Keep those wants coming folks - I filled two seriously difficult obscurities for someone yesterday and he's over the moon! Best, Ian D -

What's The Most You'd Pay For That Long Time Elusive Want?
Ian Dewhirst replied to Ian Dewhirst's topic in Look At Your Box
OK, we're proceeding @ pace with quite a few deals in the process of being tied up today. Many thanks for everyone's patience. What's become apparent is that we're not talking much in the way of bargains here. This is more of one of those 'if all else fails let's throw some money at it' type scenarios, so he's tending to be very choosy about what he's letting go of, if you see what I mean. But please let's keep persevering here folks. I managed to unite some long-desired records with new owners so it's becoming obvious that money talks here...... He's wavered over a couple of records and then let them go and some people have wavered and pulled out over a £50-£100 quid price variance, so it's really swings and roundabouts, but keep coming with the high-end wants and I'm sure there'll be more sales coming through..... Thanks to all for the messages. I'm pretty sure I've now come back to everyone but if for some reason I haven't then please give me a nudge..... Ian D -
Exactly correct Dave. I just informed Tim that his arse is the top thread on S.S. and he's in fact substantiated the above story and sends his regards. Also he's asking if we require any photos of his arse......? Getting back on track, he openly admits that he sometimes stirs things up a bit to keep things lively, as the pile of letters to Manifesto bears out. I think's it's a good time to re-install the readers letters section which I think will kick off with the next edition.... Ian D
-
Strangely enough Sean, I actually recently listened to Tim Brown's arse a few weeks ago. He'd just eaten a local Todmorden delicacy called Steak and Kidney pudding and approximately 10 minutes later his arse did a pretty good impression of "Jerk Baby Jerk" by Smokey and Fabulous Blades. In perfect time too........... There Mike! It didn't take long to get this thread back on track did it......? Ian D
-
I think Mike just wants to steer the thread back to Tim Brown's arse, which is 100% understandable. In his shoes I'd do exactly the same thing. It wouldn't be so bad if the "Come Dine With Me" references bore at least some kind of tenuous connection with Record Dealing, Manifesto magazine and Northern Soul in general. For instance, it would be entirely appropriate in a situation where someone has just bought an original copy of the "Manifesto" record on Legend to invite someone round to their place with the invitation, "Come James Lewis & The Case Of Tyme With Me". I think that's what Mike's getting at........ Ian D
-
Would that be Somerset in England by any chance? Ian D
-
Whilst Eminem is considering a U.S. version of the show called "Come Rhyme With Me"....... Ian D
-
Who the f*ck's Tim Brown anyway? Fannie Craddock appears to be far more popular. Ian D
-
In view of the current pandemic sweeping the nation and a rather decent recipe I have for pork chops, I would have thought "Come Swine With Me" would be more appropriate! Ian D

LOL, you expect me to remember ANYTHING we were discussing that afternoon? The only thing I can remember is Mrs Top Cat Numpty telling me all about her exploits in her younger days LOL.....and it COULD be the little chappie depending on which one it is. PM me and remind me mate as I'm bound by a confidentiality thingy....... And what was that bloody MCA single again mate? I can't be arsed ploughing through my PM's to locate your message. And for everyone who's waiting for replies, please bear with me - I've had a heavy week this week but looking to get a few things resolved tomorrow with a view to getting all the transactions done next week. Well a brisk morning so far. Hopefully I will have got back to everyone by now. So far 8 very rare records sold touch wood and another 7 being thought about. At the risk of sounding mercenary, once again he's looking to sell fewer records at higher prices rather than lots of stuff at lower prices, so if you have some very expensive wants, then these are the ones which are tempting him more! The guys who are coming in with a handful of rare wants @ top prices are getting the best results. Predictably he's not so keen to sell stuff which has auctioned at ridiculous prices just lately for much less, so he won't be selling Robbie Lawson anytime soon for a grand - get my drift LOL.... So keep 'em coming but focus on the high-end stuff if poss please. Many thanks. Ian D -
Back behind the wheels of steel again after a short sojourn up North and enjoyed the show immensely this week despite the fact that I can't walk, sit or lay without intense discomfort! I managed to badly injure myself last week whilst in a shower (don't ask) so consequently this week's show was delivered through a veneer of pain which only the music could soothe LOL......... But, hey! I left on a high so all good! I think it was the sheer beauty of the WONDERFUL Leonard Liddell track that gave me a boost mid show and the rest was just pure gravy as they say....... Commission is shit - I just like to see great records going to good homes where they'll be appreciated by real collectors rather than opportunists and if I can help then it generally has associated benefits - I get to know who wants what 'cos I have a few mates with good collections and there's always a price in times like this. He was going the E-Bay route until I put him off with scare-mongering about the low sales rate this Summer (which is true) and I said I may be able to help him out via the forums. Little did I realise what an administrative nightmare it is LOL. However, I've tucked away a few sales over the last few days as I did some private ones as well, so I reckon he'll get his cash injection and then go back to quietly collecting again. And yes, he has sold to someone else but I don't know who. He's keeping me on my toes....... It's a quiet Summer generally so I'm just having a bit of fun agenting some private record sales and doing other bits and pieces. I'm fascinated with this stuff actually. It's an obsession I know well.......... Come on guys. I need few more BIG offers LOL. I started with an £8K deal and it's been downhill ever since! Ian D -
Well I ventured up North again last week and sampled the delights of Todmorden, Hebden Bridge, Leeds and Scarborough and generally had a great time....but it's good to be back behind the saddle again for this week's show.... ....and we're back with our usual trawl through the different eras from some buzzing Soulful House and interesting uptempo stuff into some love rare beauties from the 80's (plus an another chance to hear the brilliant Love Unlimited Orchestra/Kanye West mash-up which is finally taking off), some wonderful vintage Older Soul and some Modern beauties and a handful of new Smooth Grooves and all round killers to close-up another 2 hour marathon! So what do we have coming up this week? The Groove Junkies feat Diane Carter * Panevino feat Charles Dockins * Gabriel Rene feat J. Soul * Lee McDonald * Love Unlimited Orchestra feat Kanye West * Sunfire * Raven * Leonard Lidell * Gift Of Dreams * The Isley Brothers * Willie Tee * Jr Walker & The All-Stars * Chairmen Of The Board * Masterpiece * Spanky Wilson * Popcorn Wylie * Makeda * Will Downing * Lenora Jaye * Ralph Tresvant * SWV See you @ 2.00pm LIVE this Sunday Afternoon on everyone's favourite Soul station www.starpointradio.com. Following the travails of the last 2 weeks on the road it was great to stay local and settle down to a regular ORIGINAL MASTERCUTS session this week far less exhausting even though the good Alan Champ joined me at the studio this week fresh from his hols. Please note how early the download has gone up this week! Last week's show is also available further back in the thread for anyone who wondered where last week's show had gone! So we're fully up to date again! I'll be up North next week and Alan will be steering the show, so please give him a lovely welcome back! OK, I'm wading through all the PM's slowly but surely and have replied to quite a few. Please give me some time - I'll do another burst of 'em tomorrow. With each record he's literally going through his collection. locating the item and giving me the price he's looking for, so it'll be win some, lose some. It's also very time consuming obviously so please bear with me. Some nice offers coming in though, so keep 'em coming folks..... Ian D
