if people are dancing i think you should follow the last dj in style and tempo......if the floor is empty ...a classic with a good intro, maybe harold melvins get out ...would give people a chance to put down their drinks ! or roy hamiltons crackin up over you...wicked beginning...both would make me leave a conversation half way through if i was a punter... as for sorting your playlist out in advance,ok if youre a new dj and a bit nervous if not its just lazy in my opinion

got no problem with unissued tracks cut from cds....at bridgewater this year a wicked slower cut of i surrender by eddie holman was played...had a peak at the decks and was a white label 7 asked the dj and he said was cut from unissued tapes (probably meant cd !)...but am glad he played it... was awesome.....play the cd ?....nah ...i know some will think its stupid but i cant help it

Why was that not an adult response ?...i wasnt boasting,just explaining to those that dont know me how ive been obsessed with vinyl almost all my life...most of my presents as a kid were records and i have always treasured my collection however big or whatever the value....

while im sure there are collectors and djs who do it for one upmanship and there egos most ive met have not,most have been genuinely into the music first and foremost... ive been collecting and playing vinyl since i was 5 years old....ok back then in 72 it was the osmonds and slade etc but i also played my dads motown 7s,he also had little queenie and jb and sam and dave lps played full vol every sunday and i loved it and these are my oldest memories...through my teens i spent my spare cash on two tone 7s where my mates spent theres on pacman !....i got a criminal record through shoplifting lps to order although i kept most for myself !.... ive now been djing since 89 both reggae and soul...aswell as makin a little extra cash to spend on vinyl as i have a shit paid job i also love flicking through tunes finding a great tune putting on the needle and waiting for the intro to kick in this is why sitting down and listening to a cd will never do it for me.... as far as big money tunes go i cannot afford them...i never spend over £50...to me its not the buzz of boasting ive spent x ammount but the opposite...if i can get a tune for loads less than the book price thatll do me if i cant theres shit loads of wicked originals in my price range recently ive spent under a tenner on tunes such as the esqiures "how could it be" and had people comin up every time i spin it and asking what it is and writing it down in their mobiles and searching for it...giving other people that thrill i got when i first heard it is the best thing about djing to me then there are those that would say if its just about the music why even spend 50 when you can but a boot for a fiver....aswell as the originals actually looking and normally sounding better i have no pension plan so long may the value keep rising cos one day when im too f***** to carry them around i will transfer them to whatever format is around then and sell them to the new collectors...well thats the plan anyway !

got a first issue orange a few months back off ebay for £35...always goes down well in bristol...wicked lyrics some great album sleeves out there

glad its all sorted but a bit petty innit....the above link is a bristol outfit that have been going for years and very rarely play northern ...is it the same as this don corlioni bloke if not how come they get away with it ??

lol! innit frustrating finding a pile of u.s sevens only to find when listening there nearly all c&w....walked into a secondhand shop once just after an american squaddie had unloaded a box of 500 sevens YES ! ....no.....almost all c&w,some rock n roll and a few soul which were all pretty f***** ! that was in norwich then in bristol theres another secondhand shop with loads of u.s singles...great labels...all pre 63 or post 70 and even then more fillers...i suspect someone had already been through before the shop got them !

ditto that....a bit more "up to date" and cheap too !

yeah i know its a bit "old hat "shall we say but i love it,had it on a grapevine demo for years and to be honest cant remember the last time i played it out !!...but just wanted it on original and was well under book price ...but over boot price !!...might be able to get my cash back and havnt been caught before so....

ok.....im at work so yet to play it and cant post a pic but postie has just dropped me "ive got something good" sam and kitty....checked out in the bootleg book before buying and it has the matrix number 4- bros-10467-1 seller told me it was stamped so i thought it was good...but its only scratched without the AT .....apparently there are 3 different originals (one is styrene delta no 62652) and 3 different boots none with the right matrix....confusing or what !....has anyone got any of the boots ? what numbers are on them ? and have i got one of them ?!!!! by the way its moulded vinyl too

i saw this on there and was gonna go a tenner....thought the seller was bullshitting when he said it goes for 100+.....didnt bother when it went to twenty...then saw the finishing price WTF !! ......unbelievable considering the original 60s vinyl you can get on ebay nowadays for £100 !!

probabaly not important but even when my teenage daughter likes a melody she always asks why the lyrical content of northern seems to be about breaking up and being dumped ! where as a lot of todays tunes are more f*** you im better off without you ! or look at all my money !!

firstly apologies if the man concerned is on holiday or ill !.....last month i payed for a tune from a soul source member (doh cant remember his ss name) the day later he sent me an email that he couldnt find it and was gonna have another look and didnt want to mess me about...that was nearly 2 weeks ago and despite emails from me ive heard nothing and have not had my money back....his email address is flashmc123@aol.com...anyone know him had dealings with him ?....can you get a message to him ...dean wants his tune or his money back ! cheers
