WHAT ?!!!....you poor man, i feel very sorry for you (and your mrs ) if you have never had a passion for anything !..whether it be vinyl,dancing,any style of music or even hornby train sets !! my girlfriend had a poster on her wall once with a quote (sorry cant remember who by)....'NOTHING in this world has ever been achieved without passion'.....think about it,very true

just watched it and agree.....although i reckon it would be better with horns doing the synth line and some nice chicago strings in the back ground....but then it probably wouldnt sell ,dont get many BIG productions today all very minamalistic (spelling?).... heard beyonces new 'wish i was a boy tune' on radio ones live lounge...WOW what a voice...maybe it was because being live in a studio it wasnt over produced and done over and over but it really made me sit up and listen to every word....dont think there is a better voice out there today...would love to hear her belt out some big northern classics

dj pickles also played a great set at the last hip hug her !...lots of stuff i hadnt heard in a while or i didnt know...but maybe i just know f*** all !! i believe kenny burrell is at the next cheltenham and he played some top tunes at the last so called 'same old same old' kings hall allnighter...and he didnt play any doubles and was on at about 330 in the mornin !...quality...

aswell as bridgewater you got ...riverside,soulfusion,cheltenham,hip hug her....dont hear no ska etc at these...ok may hear oldies but always hear some new stuff too...especially if des is playin !....and more important always a good vibe in my opinion...good venues and lots of soul talk with decent people...i call that a good night out

for me i think its the money....living in bristol the petrol money alone is the price of a decent tune !...i do kings hall a couple of times a year ,i normally stop over in a hotel but drove back at 5.30 last time ...not fun...ive done 2 out of 3 berkleys..(sadly no more) i was at the iow scooter rally for the other....gotta get to middleton soon !!....playing at hemsby scooter rally this weekend which has a seperate soul room till 6...does that count ??.... also theres so many good soul nites around the south west at the moment im out every week and still have the energy to carry on for a bit when i get home in the best club....or rather room... in the country

after reading the thread about the so called dodgy member and is it a boot /isnt it i felt i had to tell you about a top ss seller.... last week i bought a tune that turned out to be a boot and although the item wasnt advertised as original or boot ....after i messaged the seller on the day i received it ,he replied saying he didnt realise and not only did he give me a full refund but also let me keep the tune !!... so take a bow 'bearsy' top seller !! infact ive never had a prob with anyone on here so well done you all

glad its sorted and thats the problem when you name and shame on a public forum.....bad communication and misunderstandings...

i always try to take a wide selection and will play requests if i have them (and they havnt already been played a dozen times!)...but wont play a tune just cos i think its the mutts nutts !!...first and foremost they have to be DANCERS ! after all isnt that what the majority of people are there for ?!.... sometimes ive heard djs play a great real souful tune but it empties the floor....play it at home,in the car but not out unless its the end of the night maybe ....NOT half way through or even at the end of your set and clear the floor for the next dj...in my opinion

two things have struck me over the last couple of weeks on here.... first with the talk of is butch playing here or there and the general view that promoters knew in advance where he was playing...dont those promoters who do this (advertise knowing he probably wont play) care about the rep they may get for letting people down (or conning them ?)...wouldnt it be better to play who you say youre playing...even if they arent such big names ... and with the djs who turn up ,play what they want and leave without a care if its already been played.....why dont they care..i know i would ! at kings hall both kenny and sean came on late and played wicked imaginative sets including tracks i both didnt know and i hadnt heard for ages not a couple of hours !...i reckon they should have had prime time instead of chris king and ginger...but thats just my opinion

joking aside matt ....surely you can see how ska and 60s soul will go together just a bit better than van halen ?... and yes youre entitled to your opinion but as a dj at such an event i can tell you your opinion is wrong... FACT ! we would have no less people at go go if it was soul allnight....cos some times it does nearly work out that way anyway ! and not once has the thought of "shit we better play some other stuff cos no ones coming " ever entered our heads... but i have a feeling you will still not believe me anyway...so have a good weekend !
