  1. im an occasional seller of cheap tunes and most are still going to the north of england...other countries this year seem to be scotland, italy, germany and norway john mentions it in the forward of the new guide..cant remember exactly but scandinavia asia and australia gets a mention i think...and 6000 new members on his site since the last guide...who said vinyl was dead!!
  2. harrold jackson freedom riders is still only £20 in the book...i wish!! although this gives me hope i might find one from a US dealer who only knows the book prices i suppose
  3. cool pix..keep it up!...seen the one with karen at lifline on facebook already...great how shes the only one facing you...would make a good sleeve for a cd comp. dean
  4. this is why i was surprised...the last one had all the info you needed but if this was your first time buying one you are missing loads..there is some but maybe just the new info?...as for prices it is always only a guide and there will be some missing if john hasnt had them to sell i guess...
  5. just recieved my new guide....quality of the pages is a big improvement, not worried about not having scans in the back as i have the last guide...but although there is bold type for the tunes that have been booted there is no information about what to look for for a lot of them?...so guess i'll have keep the old book too
  6. yeah thats the one....as i said not the best sound but ok for playing out...also got jackie verdell are you ready for this for about £6...rev sammy lewis..uptempo gospel for same but no you tube clips... and cheryl johnson-its not too late for $200 strong vg..looks worse than the others but plays better...minty went for $1900 not long back...all from the same seller so not a bad deal :-) https://youtu.be/TZHen2uv2fw you tube clip not mine
  7. books at 100 but got one on ebay for 20 odd...vg+/label ex,minor surface noise no pops though music loud and clear dean
  8. harrold burrage-ill take one...dropped through the door yesterday on a US M-PAC... https://youtu.be/p6jZaVmYxQw
  9. i think youre all being a bit hard on your selves....i agree with bearsy...not wanting to hear something because youve heard it a million times doesnt make you a snob....and then when you havnt been listening to it for a while one day you hear it and get a buzz again..thats underplayed oldies for ya
  10. i made a post about artists getting one off payments....but i never said this was the reason why i personally and many like me play original vinyl....as has been said MANY times...the main reason for playing ovo is to stop every tom dick and harry playing bad copied boots of tomangos etc or even cheap legit reissues of tracks other djs have the originals of....to make their own playlists of underplayed quality tunes....
  11. i dont think very many would especially the small labels..more like paid a small ammount for the song..recorded,paid,done.....most royalties as i understand it go to the songwriters/producers and even upto the 80s major uk bands were falling ou tand going to court over royalties
  12. even on the sales page on here some records are overpriced...do not sell...a week later reposted without any discounts...dont sell...a week later reposted without any discount...and so on then there are those few big oldies that fetch stupid ammounts on ebay...maybe the reason for above while ive put a list up of decents tunes all well under book..sold a couple...reduced more...sold a couple...but loads will go unsold..maybe everybody has them...maybe all those buying £10-20 records are buying boots of the big tunes above strange times indeed
  13. THE ANSWER IS HASNT THIS SUBJECT BEEN DONE ENUFF FFS!! regarding bridgewater,i was there and too be honest pete made his tribute on the mic and the floor was full and i didnt hear anybody saying why wasnt do i love you played...im guessing it was played in hundreds of other venues over that weekend.....i for one wasnt bothered i didnt hear it!!

  15. i think its probably more of a nostalgic thing for most at least for those obvious white sounding tunes.. i got into it in the early/mid 80s from the youth club and then scooter scenes so while some are way too cheesy for me now there are those that i still love,my girlfriend nicci while always knowing of northern and having a liking for soul but never on the scene in her younger days wasnt exposed to the american pop we did so now she doesnt get the blue eyed soul as much...it sounds too clean cut for her
  16. cheers..like i said the mark opposite isnt an r but could be a very faint stamp and has marks where it should be a capitol r..ive had monarch stamps that are so faint you can only just make them out...think ill keep hold of it now anyway many thanx for all replies
  17. matrix info....k-10036-2(scratched)...opposite that a tiny mark which lookslike a stamp.. too straight to be a scratch
  18. i always have fun but do need to hear some new stuff too....even if i know i'll enjoy the social dont get so excited about venues/djs who i know will play much the same as they did last time....it doesnt have to be one way or the other, there is some middle ground....some oldies some underplayed some WHAT THE F+++ IS THAT?!!...another for the wants list...all mixed together with a little thought
  19. for the 100th time(this year) you have got to look at the bigger picture...if it wasnt for djs/collecters etc searching and playing vinyl there would be no mp3s to play....and if every tom dick and harry starts a soul nite because all they have to do is buy a laptop and splits an already decreasing pool of punters nites like lifeline, bidds etc will dissapear..so why should people still go to the states to find tunes which eventually means there will be nuffin new on you tube...no new kent cds and everynite will be boring as f+++ IMO ;-)
  20. similar.....because they have the same taste in music and philosiphy of playing something a bit different....a set is only 20 odd tracks long so a dj can play better or worse sets now with a box of 200...2000 tracks doesnt mean he will play a better set
  21. obvously there sets would be different as they would have more tunes at their disposal but they would still have the principal of playing something others havnt aswell as the big indemanders...and thats the problem to many oldies nites play the same old tunes a lot dont even try to find a few that are underplayed....
  22. still not a great scan though...will post matrix info tonite
  23. me too pete..wish i wasnt so honest sometimes though...had a buyer for it and told him to hold payment till id checked it out for sure and now he doesnt want it as it would niggle him too if there was any doubt at all
  24. thought id get more help with this on here?...3 scans of red issues on popsike and all 3 are different AND different to mine!...need scan od definate boot...if there is one
  25. as far as the original question goes...fade it out a bit early maybe and comeback with a get out of jail card oldie or current in-demander...but dont take it off half way through, its only a couple of minutes ...although when behind the decks i know it can feel like forever! if we are now talkin about should djs play something new (again!) to a largely oldies crowd and clear the floor with it....in my experience i can remember des playing things like kindly shepherds and even jt parker a few years back and me and nicci being a couple of only a handful dancing and me even looking around and gesturing people to get up and thinking 'what the f++++ the matter with you?!'....play those tunes at the same venue now to that largely oldies crowd and the floor fills clearing the floor with unknown tunes isnt new is it...its how tunes got/get broke and for those that think the 'new sound' djs are snobs...stop looking down YOUR nose at djs who dont play the so called big tunes cos one day a lot of you will probably be dancing to that tune ' that didnt sell so must be shit'.or wasnt 'played at wigan so must be shit'...ive seen it happen dean
