Hi Harry, a friend of mine works on the local tip. he,s made himself quite a few £££s qver the years with the British stuff he has found. Why records end up on the tip is anyones guess, people dead, spilt up or whatever. Dave

Hi Harry, quite alot of us got into the modern scene, being a Mecca lad wanting new stuff to listen to. The 70,s stuff than the Jazz Funk/New York Disco, and into the Modern Soul scence, right up to 2K soul. Alot all the Crossover records where played in the 70,s we called them Floaters than. I still love crossover records but they are not modern soul. To me modern soul are the two-step and uptempo and even some house from 70,s 80,s 90,s and 00,s I did not give up on Northern in the 80,s like alot did on the Modern scene. I still want to lots of dos Tonys Blackburn, Bank Hall Miners Burnley, Piper Morecombe and Queens Hall Bradford and local dos. I started going to both M Soul and N Soul dos and still do. Thats 3 types of dos if you count crossover dos as well. (I did my swansong DJing on the Northern scene at Bank Hall Miners) I,m right in thinking you are the Harry that Ron Pedley introduced me to at the Wilton a year or so back. Dave.

Yes true. There ended up being 20 double in the set 16 NS, 3 MS & 1 Detroit. I sold the MS & Detroit a well back, still got the 16 NS. I also sold on the single LPs when they came out on the doubles.

It,s got to be 10 times better than the same old tried & tested over and over again. There,s even a few I don,t know, and alot I,ve not heard in ages.

I,m 52 and I know 21 is young to be on the scene, but Sean has been doing the rounds for the last few years. Even DJing at Bury and Lowton and his show on Starport radio.

I love both versions and both versions where played at the Mecca. I,ve got a great tape 1974 played back to back.

Is there any other scene etc where you can have friends of such a big age diffence? i.e. tomorrow we going to Sean,s 21st and next week we,ve got Roman,s 60th.

Yea still got more of the above. We also played inst of Band of Gold by Cloud 9 Strings from budget LP.

Cheers for that, i did not do wigan much between 76/79. I only went when i had records to pick up or records to sell. My fav. times where the 1st 2/3 years and the last 2 years. (Sat nights only did not do oldies night)

Played in summer of 1974 at Wigan covered up as the New York Strings. The orig L. P. is still in demand on the funk scene.

I had my Sassy copy about 2 or 3 years before Neil turned up shed loads. Mine was frankford/ wayne stamped.

The only time I paid more than a week,s wages for a record, I got Inspirations (Breakthough) off Sam for £80. My wage at the time was £65. Barry Waddington got the second copy to turn up and let Richard have it swaps and cash.
