  1. I can name a couple off top of my head that haven't. The Inspirations and Johnny Hendley.
  2. I also have got to admit about not knowing about the Verve release.
  3. Cold Milk and loads of Sugar, on Wednesday Morning!
  4. Lee Andrews got booted early 74, which would explain it being a Youth Club Spin at the time. The orig well not super rare as never been common.
  5. I knew the yellow copy was rare back than 3 or 4 copies around, l also had the inst on yellow label as well. I seen to remember the inst on yellow label was not shown as Men From Macon, but Men From Mecca.
  6. Another dozen from me. Lou Johnson "Unsatisfied" Exciters "Blowing Up My Mind" Major Lance "You Don't Want Me No More" Johnny Jones & The King Casuals "Purple Haze" Johnny Sayles "I Can't Get Enough" Otis Smith "Let Her Go" Harlem Grobetrotters "Cheer Me Up" James Brown "Hey America" (inst) Earl Wright " Thumb A Ride" Fathers Angels "Bok To Bach" Tempos "Countdown Here I Come" Sweets "Satisfy Me Baby"
  7. Dalton Boys and Mel Williams pre Wigan Not sure if the Cats played Little Joe Romans was played before Wigan opened, but the Cats did overlap Wigan for about nine months.
  8. A nice chill out style Mecca tune (Copper n Brass).
  9. I am pretty sure it is Chicago's version in the film.
  10. When this was played at the Mecca, covered up as the Casino Brothers, Wigan was already open. It is one of the very best that's for sure.
  11. Sequins "Case Of Love" Bob Relf "Blowing My Mind To Pieces" Four Larks "Grooving At The Go-Go" Fred Hughes "Baby Boy" Sandi Sheldon "You're Gonna Make Me Love You" Jerry Cook "I Hurt On The Other Side" Patti & The Emblems "I'm Gonna Love You A Long Long Time" Jerry Williams "If You Ask Me" Watson & Williams "Too Late" Hoagy Lands "The Next In Line" Triumphs "I'm Coming To Your Rescue" O'Jays "Deeper In Love" A quick dozen from me from pre-Wigan days that still do it for me.
  12. I always thought that the Rita Lee (white label) was a 70's boot of Cressa Watson. But l have never heard them side by side.
  13. Original is on yellow label and it does read Cressa Watson. I Know because l had it back in the 70's.
  14. The Temptations film is well worth watching.
  15. Towards the back end of the 70's, l started wearing Lacoste, Polo Shirts etc. In 2015 still wearing Lascoste every now and than, and have done all through the last 35 years plus.
  16. By the end of 76, baggies had well gone, with the Mecca crowd. For some reason the Wigan crowd started even wider ones for a couple of years or so. In the main it what was in fashion at the time, and not Northern Soul fashion. In the early 70's it was the Skinhead/Smoothie fashion that was worn by the Soul crowd.
  17. I have no idea what was in the stock, it was all boxed up. I think Rick and John went through it, the days after l dropped it off. I did spend a lot of time going through the stuff that came over from Martin Koppel a few years earlier. A bloody big container load it took 4 of us about 6 hours to unload it.
  18. Yeah, l picked up his stock in a hire van for Tim. I am sure it was a bit earlier than that, it was a bit of a nightmare getting back to Tod. The f*cking thing would not go into 1st gear, John Atkinson came with me that day.
  19. I wish l had kept some copies of this back, l sold 25 of these for total of about £40 for the lot.
  20. John had loads of good stuff back in the day. Mind you we all had, if only we had kept back a few copies of the stuff we had stock of.
  21. And it's her Birthday today.
  22. If l remember rightly it was on one of those front page specials, along with stuff like Bobby Mandolf, Bobby Williams, Shep. Faye Ross etc.
  23. It was the Orange single sided copy that got played at the Mecca, it was a year or a bit more when the Pinkie ones where commonly availiable. As for Lee Fields 85p from Soul Bowl at the time.
  24. I was wondering why it is only 25 years since you 1st heard it? because it is almost 40 years since it 1st got played on the scene!
