  3. My 1st payslip after tax and ins was £3.67 but that was in 71, i know i was bringing home just over £20.00 in 75 at my 20th birthday. So mid 74 it must have something like £10/£15, but i can,t remember.
  4. Hi Mick, or anybody can you rermember what your wages were in 74, i know i can,t remember. All i can remember i had more to spend on records in summer than winter (no football). Dave.
  5. YA ROD, WHAT IF ??? Turn around quicker than Levine! and R S,s playlist would have not been as good! as it was.
  6. Hi Alan, I don,t think it was the same all dayer, but I could be wrong. I don,t remember being any other acts on that day. They were doing the rounds about the same time, I saw them mid-week in Preston around that time. Yours Dave. Having checked up it was the Top Rank Hanley not Steam Machine were i 1st saw J J Barnes (oh well)
  7. 1st time saw J J Barnes wes at a Steam Machine All-Dayer (late 72/early 73 ?) I missed Maxine Brown at Cleethorps, but caught her act at the 100 club on the thursday night after. Like I,ve already said Betty Wright at Wigan, tops.
  8. Ya Sean, I had forgot about R S,s birthday do, yet one more great live act. Dave.
  9. Ya Exciters at Wigan was great but so was Betty Wright. Major Lance, J J Barnes, Edwin Starr and Jr Walker were all great I,ve watched all more than once. Barbara Lynn at the Gala Gran, and Dells at Trentham were both very good. The Ric-Tic revue at the Ritz was one more that comes to mine, but some of the best ones were not at a Northern do. Temps, Marvin Gaye, Al Green, Mary J Blige, Four Tops, Maze, and lots, lots more. How can I forget all the acts at Prestatyn over the years some very good (and some not). Nearly forgot all the great Millie Jackson concrets in the 70s.
  10. The beginning and end years were great, its the Joe90, Gary Lewis etc period that wants writing off!
  11. Looks like more than one soulie turned to punk.
  12. John from Burnley was a punk, ex-northen lad, went out with a girl from Bolton. He used to buy some nice sounds before he became a punk.
  13. Hi Pete, its shocked me that John Bowie didn,t get played at Wigan till 77. Andy Riding had a good few for sale summer 75 £4 each i got mine off him than and so did Ginger and about a dozen other people in our local area.
  14. Hi Nick, Pat got the Chandlers off Andy Riding at the Spinning Jenny. The Chandlers was a big sound for Andy at Accy Band Club back in 76. Sadly Andy passed away a few years back. Dave.
  15. And lets not forget the all-dayer at the Spinning Jenny, all the lads playing football outside Back to the Jenny (1st time around) 1972 Major Lance live on stage. P,S, Nick is Deano from Skipton still around?
