  1. Not one of my fav's by a long way, but in the summer of 74 it sounded so good when we were out of our trees.
  2. Top 3s, Top 10s etc, it is only having a bit of fun at the end of the day. It is also good to see what other people come up with. What a strange time to state every 14 mins yes it is impossible to name but it what takes your fancy at any given time.
  3. Jayne, Rare Pleasure great record whatever you class it as! Dave x
  4. 3) "How could you break my heart" Bobby Womack 2) "Let it go" Joi Cardwell 1) "Believe in love" Teddy Penderglass That might change later.
  5. Hi Penny, when is the big 50? It's me that's losing it, only realised this morning why you@ve got Lady P. from Thunderbirds as your avaitor. Dave x
  6. Sorry Dave, The Velvets f++kin love it. I have never seen the dance floor reaction from any other record in 38 years, when it was first played in 73. It was magic to watch, you just had to be there. I like Andy Fisher as well, just the right speed to dance to for a old c*** like me. Not sure what Ed Bruce is? It would be f++kin boring if we all liked the same. Dave.
  7. Also played at the same time Bill Harris "Uptown Saturday Night"
  8. The South doesn't count does it? In the North it wasn't played in the normal clubs till the late 70s. It was played on the Northern scence in 74 from the LP. Not the single or the 12.
  9. Contempo is the UK release. W.B. is the rarer and nicer looking, but it is a 2nd US release and Innovation is the 1st.
  10. Dean Barlow is just plain crap. The classic that never did it for me is Moses Smith "The Girl Across The Street"
  11. No it was played on the Northern circuit a few years before it got played in Mainstream clubs. Neil Rushton put in out on his Inferno label due to demand.
  12. It was a big big full fuller at Wigan in the summer of 74. On one of my live tapes (1st Ann) Russ plays it 3 times in one hour. It was covered up as The Javells at 1st, than reissued on Disco Demand as The Javells.
  13. Has Richard jumped ship, he was working at Morrisons last I heard not Tescos.
  14. Legion spin from the summer of 75. Used to get them from Record Corner for 80p and sell them for £2
  15. Yea, Big Dave and Pete were there, I had no idea who Pete was when he came over for a chat. Not seen him since 1978. I joined EMS in Jan or Feb this year. The last time I saw Pat he was on about a reunion, but that was last summer! Hope to see you out and about soon.
  16. I used to swap tapes with Guy in the 70s. One of the best I got givin was off Soul Sam 1980, 60s on one side 70s on the other. I got a few of Martin Koppel in the 80s. In the early 90s Tim Brown used to tape his sets to play in his car, and when he had finished with them he give them to me.
  17. Hi Nick, I saw Bernie at Guy's 50th in Derby. It was the 1st time I'd seen him for years. Dave.
  18. No S.S.S. is still one of the best. S.O.S. is ok too, apart from "Walk With A Winner" always hated that record. I can't remember what was on the Stax one? Worst Casino Classics or Black Magic Treats!
  19. When you have alot of bricks, you could get into HOUSE MUSIC!!! HAT, COAT, GONE.
  20. Now that Nori has closed down, Accrington are the rare original bricks very collectable
  21. Fabulous Peps was on one of THE NORTHERN SOUL STORY LPs from the 80s (Soul Supply). Not got track listings to hand at the moment, so I can't tell you which one.
  22. Beat me to it and i got the group wrong (right label)
  23. Karma Sutra the label for the vocal I think it was the Mamas and Papas, put it could be Lovin Spoonful. I can't remember?
  24. Yes he was a great guy, it was a sad night in the Mecca when Colin told us he had been killed.
