  1. I am pretty sure the orange Tangerine is the same as the UK HMV one (northern track) There is a blues version I can't remember if it is on a 45 but it is on a LP (not northern) Dave.
  2. post delated
  3. Hi Lois, I have sent you a PM. Dave.
  4. No all crap records should be called southern anthonys. lol. Back on topic "The Painter" was played out it was covered up at the time I remember I L playing it at one of the midweek do's maybe, Welcome Inn Blackpool. I don't think he would admit it now do you? BTW there are alot of us Dave's about. Dave.
  5. Thanks for reminding me of her name. I think she might kill me if someone tells her I had forgotten. That's if I ever see her again. lasr saw her at Guy's 50th. I used to go to Guy's house when he lived in Skipton. I have dropped Margaret and her mate from Earby once or twice after do's in the 70s (forgot name of her mate as well) They all used to come to do's in Accrington on Friday nights (Legion, Band Club & Jenny) There were a good few from over that way that came to our do's. Pete Higson, Dave Jolly. Deano and all of the above. And surprice, surprice some others but can't remember thier names.
  6. Just checked 2003 diary and if the last one was april 2003 we did not go. I have spent half the day looking in diaries but no luck on finding the date when there was only 5 of us in modern room. I willl ask Dave Hulmes next time I see him but I don't think he will know the date to be honest. lol. The highlight of the night was when of the guys from the northern room came in and started doing shadow puppets on the wall.
  7. Is there still only 3 or 4 copies of this?
  8. That's why me and Gary could not agree myk last night 2001 Who ever run it later last night 2004, Flynny says capitol soul club. I don't know who it was but it was deff very quite.
  9. RnB songs played as Norhern Soul, most of them are not for me they are far to old. There has been a few over the years that have rocked my boat, but alot of them sound like a cross between Rock n Roll and Country n Western. Sorry but I find most of them f**kin boring and utter shite, but if we all the like the same stuff life we be really boring. I find it strange that alot of the younger crowd like the older stuff. As one of the mods said in a earlier post age group late 30s to mid 40s and most of our are crowd late 40s to mid 50s. Dave.
  10. Me and Gary are still trying to work out when the last one was. lol. I think we went to different last nights.
  11. It was deff quiet the last one I went to (unless it was the last one with a modern room). No chance of it starting again it's all been closed down by the council, building unsafe (F**kin H + S). The dance school who run it has had a new dance school built on the edge of town. It was cheaper than getting Tony's back in order. The pub where they used to have the warn-ups is no longer a pub. Dave.
  12. The last Tony's nighter was in the early 00s when it had a modern room up in a side room. There was only 5 of us in there. The northen room was pretty quiet as well. I know Bob Hinsley was on in the nothern room cause I was talking to him. I can't remember who else was on. Dave Hulmes was the only DJ in the modern room.
  13. I am abit shocked it was so late, I always had it down as a mid 80s not late 80s nighter. Did it close and re-open? I remember Guy's parter taking money on the door, her name I can't remember? Still got soultown membership card (one of the few I have still got left). Abit off topic Louise used to go Dancing at Tony's every Tuesday till it closed down. Dave.
  14. It looks like it gonna be a good night.
  15. Name and Shame. But than again why am I not surpriced.
  16. BTW Steve what type of set have you got planned for this coming Sat. at Preston? Dave.
  17. Yes download only, keeping down the costs.
  18. Hi you haven't got 2008 number 15 left have you, when we got there they had all gone. Dave.
  19. Yes indeed Chairman of the Board where on at one of the all-dayers at Burnley Mecca. As you said (in other post) you could go to a soul nite 7 days a week back than (I never stopped in. ) Dave.
  20. [quote name='ImberBoy' date='08 Apr 2010 - 11:00 AM' timestamp='1270724446' post='1305017 It is a testament to Richard Searling who spun it first at Va Va's in Bolton (Got all this from Wikipedia so no insight claims for me). Sadly it is no longer played and it may have been the first ever "Divvy" record?
  21. It always fulled the floor back than it is still a great record (just been played to death) I remember at one of the last nights ever at Wigan (there were more than one). Russ's spot he said sorry we could not get Soft Cell so you will have to make do with this, Gloria Jones comes on (record). The all place went mad, I was stood on the balcony it had me in tears the all thing was electric. Dave.
  22. Also I got shortly after this was big, the version by April Silva on Commonweath and I think it turned out she was white as well.
  23. Pop record it is, but at the latter end of 1973 it was one of the biggest floor fillers in the country. I will admit to liking it at the time, but when was put out by Pye on the Disco Demand label a year or so later. Plus being on top of the pops, it became a big no-no.
  24. No Nick, I did not go to Queens Hall untill 89 or 90. Don't remember Bensons (apart from the bed shop). Dave.
