  1. The 1st time I can remember dancing was at the Jr School Christmas party. I won the Twisting competition (age 10) lol. The 1st time at a N.S. venue, Blackpool Mecca Oct 1971. Louise's 1st time at N.S. venue, Burnley Bankhall Miners 1985 or 86.
  2. Both big Mecca spins in 74, I was selling (Aug 74)Shane Martin's at about £5 each at the time. (US not UK copies) I did not get a Nancy Wilson till Dec 74, and it had been around for a while than. Dave.
  3. I think you mean 1974 Paul, for Shane Martin and Nancy Wilson being massive. Dave.
  4. Neil Rushton did a Northern Soul special on Lux on Friday nights in 1976. I think it was in six parts, in was on about midnight. I taped them at the time, will still have them somewhere. Dave.
  5. Not a big record at the time but yes played at the Mecca. At a guess in 1976?
  6. Sorry Pete, I misread your post. Dave.
  7. Maybe £200 plus, but see Pete Smith's post (it might not be real)?
  8. Hi Pete, I never seen a boot with rosette on, when were they done? Like I said the bellsound copies no rosette, 1st time I saw them was in the 80s and I was dubious at the time. Willie had about half a dozen copies for sale at the time. Up to than I had only seen about 4 or 5 real ones (all with rosette). Anyway I have been told since that they where ok, I think it was Browny (Tim) who told me they were real. Dave.
  9. I remember Willie from Todd, had a few of the one like yours for sale in the 80s. The L.A. press with rosette, the Detriot press no rosette with bell sound stamp. So yours should be ok. The L.A. one is the harder to find. Dave. p,s. as far as I know no boots with stamp.
  10. Which song played in the main room at Wigan? Country Road Where is the love Love trees
  11. I think it might me, just had a quick look, but can't put my hands on LP at the moment. It is deff on the CD version of the album but there are extra tracks on the CD. (2 of her LPs on 1 CD)
  12. Well it reminds me of the Highland Room, loved it than love it now. (High Voltage- Country Rd) The Betty Wright LP had "Where is the Love" and "Love don't grow on a love tree" on it. Both played at the time. Dave.
  13. Yes he did, and it was an all-dayer. A bit of a eye-opener seeing him or is it her for the 1st time. Dave.
  14. My golden 5 mins while 1 hour really (or 2 depends how you look at it.) It was at my last ever DJing spot over 25 years ago at Burnley Bank Hall Miners. I had already sold about 80% of my collection when Pat Allan asked me to do a swansong. Dave Comer and Dave Fergie keep on to me to do it. So with the use of Fergie's records I did it. I was due on before Richard Searling, so I start my set and half way though Pat tells me Richard can not make it can I do 2 hours. Which I did, it felt good because the dance floor was busy the whole time, and the ex-Legion lads turned out to surport me. Also Pat Brady give me a good write up in Echoes. Dave.
  15. Central in Leeds was ok, it was the stairs down that I wasn't too keen on. Falling down them one night might be the reason.
  16. Alison, the warm up for Tony's used to be in The Borough Arms. It has closed down now as a pub and now reopened as Buffet City. And less of this OAP crap, I have got ** years to go yet. Dave. P.S. you missed a very good night at the Barn on Sat.
  17. Hi Phil, we had a modern/soulful house night at the Barn on Sat, anyway Sue and Les where there. Sue said when she got there she was staying no later than 4.30am, anyway they left at 6.15am. Dave.
  18. I don't think anyone can disagree with that.
  19. Just had a look. NO
  20. Anybody on here remember buying ex-Romanian army shoes at Wigan off any of the East Lancs lads. It would have been between May 74 and Jan 75. They were great for dancing, black plain leather tops and leather soles, rounded toe front. They came from a ex-army stores in Accrington, we were selling them I think £2 a pair, might even be £3. We all used to take orders (shoe size), until the stock run out. I sold about a dozen pairs, but some of the Blackburn and Clitheroe lads sold alot between them. Dave.
  21. I put up three early Northern earlier, so three Modern at the time... Bits and Pieces "Keep On Running Away" Vernon Burch "Fame Of Mind" Marvin Holmes & Justice "You Better Keep Her" Dave
  22. Harry, so Ron has not got one, so that might be a surprice than. Dave.
  23. Shit I forgot about that deal as well. (less of the little me and Gary are both as tall as each other ) Anybody heard what Steve is up to now after his incident? Dave.
  24. I did not know Ronnie had one, but it does not surprice me. Dave.
