Malc, have you never thought of going on Mastermind? Remembering all the words to the song after all these years, very impressive!

  5. It was great fun back in the day Ian. As long as I stay off the drink, I shoud be ok, unlike at Neil's All-Dayer at South Cave. I ended up getting pissed and was mooning all over the place, not good at our age. Anyway after that I said I am never drinking again.

Paul, your fav two friends from Blackburn, not, used to do there work in there before the Casino opened in the early days. I know because me and Mick from Darwin where on the wrong end of their work along with some nasty lads from Preston that they where mates with.
  10. Right my sister is 11 years older than me and was into rock & roll, so no story there. Apart from me hateing rock & roll because she liked it. A have a cousin who was a little bit older who was into the scene for a while, he stopped going out early 74. He got jumped and rolled after the Mecca, he lived in Blackpool at the time and is was walking home. He was in hospital for a while, he never really got over it. It upset him so much, that he would not go out at night for years. It was not anybody from the scene that did it, I hasten to had. I lost touch with in in the early 80s, no idea what become of him? Fast forward to the mid-90s and we got a invite to a 60th birthday party in Bradford. (same club as the rare and underplayed do is on now) It was one of Louise's Uncle's and I met Lou's Auntie Maureen for the 1st time, anyway we had called there on are way to some all-nighter. We had some lads with us, Maureen asked we we where going after, so we told her and she said is the still alot of gear at nighters? She went on to tell us of her times at the Wheel and Central and told us about some of the Yorkshire lads and lassies she mated about with back than. That's it with members of family and the scene. BTW I think you can had Mick to the Moore's family as well. lol. Dave.

I went about maybe half a dozen times when it was a normal night, early or mid 90s and once to the all-nighter, around 2000 I think. Still got a couple of C-90 tapes some where from the soul nights. It was a right bastard of a drive to get to, when you came off the M6 at Stoke it seened to take forever to get there.

Martin, I hope Terry is not reading this, he won't be able to get a hat big enough to fit him anymore.
  16. Why would anyone want to?
  17. Very nicely put Sir.:hatsoff2:and I, 100% agree.
  18. Well I don't own any speedos, but I do have a whistle, but in my defence I was a Ref in the local league in the early 80s.
  19. I don't think I could remember all the do's in the Manchester area that I have been to, let alone the whole country! I do know that I have been to fourteen different weekenders over the years. (this was nine when I 1st typed it lol) I will try and have a think about All- Nighters, and get back to you. Normal soul nights not a chance of remembering them all. It is forty years this year since my 1st Soul Night, (Blackpool Mecca) over that if you count local Disco and youth club days.
  20. The 100s of people that you meet and become friends with, that you would have not met if you had not liked the music.
  21. Dancing to them at my age, heart attack waiting to happen. lol. Joking apart it would be great to have one's youth back, just to dance to records like this all night. I couldn't dance to two on the trot nowadays. My legs won't hold out anymore.
  22. Well there are three train stations in Burnley, (Central, Barracks, and Manchester Road). Central and Barracks are on the Preston to Colne line. Manchester Road is on the Preston to York line. I would say that Manchester Road is the nearest just, followed by Central, but even the Barracks is only a ten minute walk tops.
