  1. Yes, there where a lot of us that knew about boots etc, at most venues once a record got pressed it was dropped from the playlist. Emidiscs where played at Wigan etc, Since I DJed at alot of backwater clubs as you call them from late 73 till the early 80s. In the begining I used a mixture of emi's LPtracks and a few orig records, by the middle 74 in was OV only all the way.
  2. Sue & Les, full list of modern line up see post 181.
  3. Sue, only just seen your reply. Thanks.
  4. The Chairman of the Board all-dayer was a special one.
  5. Yes Ritz 1st Manchester. Mecca 2nd Blackpool. Rose Room 3rd Burnley. Others good one where Whitchurch, Sale, Darwin, Burnley Bank Hall, Handley.
  6. Not been a good night all in all.
  7. John which web site and how soon? If one of the rooms as gone that people had booked for, than need to know to get money back! And yes I did want to see Sunburst Band, I had chance before Christmas, but did not go, because was told they where doing Prestatyn.
  8. Sorry Martin, I disagree with you, when most of us have paid out money, we have a right to know what the f**k is going on!!!!!!! Dave in a very bad mood.
  9. I have to disagree with part of what you say, you are right about the all-nighters and there was no weekenders. There where far more soul nights, there where do's on seven nights a week every week (week in -week - out) in the mid 70s. In the north-west there was and a lot of nghts even during the week you had a choice of where to go.
  10. Yes Tony , there where good nights, I bet it was over 10 years ago now! I have been to the Grand once, and yes it was packed and it is a nice place, but 8.00pm finish is not really my bag. It's hard to switch off so early, plus we got out of the habit of going out on Sundays.
  11. Yes, very good call.
  12. If anything it sounds better now than it did than.
  13. Mark PM back it's "Summer Song" by Michael Rubini on ATCO. i got the summer bit right and the label right.
  14. Long Shot, but I have just PMed the person I sold it to back in the day. 1st to ask if he still had it and 2nd to see he can remember what it was?
  15. Mark, no it is not the columbia thing thing deffo Atco. I knew it did not look right, mixed up with wrong group. If it doesn't come back to me, I will check my 1975 tape listings.
  16. Mark, there must be loads, but the one that comes to mind at the moment, Soft Soul Summer Strings on ATCO can't remember title, played around the same time. Now that I have written it down it doesn't look right, it must be age.
  17. Martin, "When We Get There" should have not been played anywhere, and it is still being played is just f**kin madness. What's worst people still dance to it!
  18. Darren, sorry about stepping on your parade, but I thought I would tell you that Otis Smith was pressed before The Casino opened it's doors. It was a big Mecca and Torch record, prob the Cats as well but I never went to The Catacombs. Reguards Dave.
  19. This looks really really good.
  20. I didn't know the redone version had come out on a single. I was in Hospital at the time of the reunion, so I had to miss it.
  21. A sad end to what was once a great place to go. We had some great times there in the past.
  22. You are not wrong there, the printing on some of the pages was shocking.
  23. Gone up abit Mark since it used to be knocked out at £4 a throw.
  24. Yes there is Ian Levine redid this again at a later date. The 1st one was on the UK single and the 2nd came out on a CD some years later.
  25. Pretty sure you are right about the UK release due to northern demand. I think I 1st heard it at Cleethorpes Piper and sure who played it. I was under the impression at the time it was a european release? a rock band of something.
