  1. Tony, you cynic.
  2. Geoff, who from Accy? Richard had it on Bunky back in the day, I did try to buy it off him but he wouldn't sell. Having said that, I never actually saw the record, but I did want it bad. Dave. P.S. Geoff say hi to Margaret from me and Lou.
  3. Billy Woods Demo's are not white.
  4. I sold him one of these years ago.
  5. The White Demo is "Day By Day" in stereo Aside and mono Bside. I found out to my cost, knowing Day By Day was the A side I ordered 10 copies back in July 74 (to sell on) I was not a happy bunny when I opened the post when they arrived to find no Didn't Say A Word on the B side I do like Day By Day, but not to own it 10 times, lol.
  6. When Ian Levine 1st started playing "The Bottle" out, as well as the Mecca on a Sat., he did a few midweek venues. One of these was Darwen Tiffs, anyone he told me that the LP was in stock at Black Wax inn London. Next day rang up Black Wax up on works phone, than said to boss I don't feel well and I need to go home. Want down to train station and jumped train to London, across London on tube and got the said LP. Just so I could play in at Accrington Legion on a Friday night, happy days. R.I.P Gil Scott-Heron.
  7. Looks ok, at my end too.
  8. Russ I will have a look for them after the weekend, and went I find them will post them up. It could be a while, cause I have stuff all over the place and not all together like normal people do. You are more than welcome to have one, when they turn up. Your Dave.
  9. I thought you might have had a pop at this, for a Birthday treat, lol.
  10. Still got two unused tickets (somewhere) for the Sam Dees night in 98. I got rushed into Hospital that week and could not go. Dave.
  11. Yeah, I was in Birmingham too that night and it wasn't good. In fact one of the girls with us (a big fan) , it took her about three years before she bring herself round to playing his records at home again.
  12. From this side of the pond as well,
  13. Like others I have been getting this great mag from issue 1. Not a subscriber directly, but do get every issue sent from Beat in Rhythm (Manchester) when it comes out. Will be sad to see it go.
  14. 100% AGREE, A GREAT NIGHT.
  15. If it did, I have never seen one. Had it on emidisc, the Destiny LP and a Soul Supply CD.
  16. Nice photo of me and Jim, with the giant.
  17. Yes Panny. I went.
  18. I should have have read all posts before posting.
  19. You are both right, I put a scan up on here, some time last year.
  20. Dave Newman was a massive record when it got booted (or at least it was at the Mecca)
  21. Played in about 76, I did not know it had been booted till just now! Kinda explains why it never took off.
  22. PM you.
  23. Not seen the DJM one "Soul On Fire" 1977 What's tracks are on it?
  24. Ronnie, make me a offer for all six by pm for them. Cheers Dave.
  25. There are more than one split in the modern scene, lol. Crossover, two-step,rare groove, jazz, jazz-funk, house, garage, not forgetting when it was made ie. 70s, 80s, 90s or 00s. Radcliffe's modern crowd are mainly a housey type crowd, but on the same night there was a 2 room modern night on in Leyland. This in the main, room 1 two-step and room 2 mainly a jazz set. Me, I think modern under what ever gene, is just a extension of the soul scene. Finally to nick a quote from Andy Lett, "all records where modern once" Dave.
