Most of these where played at the Mecca, but the dancefloors wheren't empty. The Mecca crowd by and large didn't mind change.

"My Hang Up Is You" played by me and Phil at local do's as a new release in 73. Our local record shop owner Pauline Marshall, recommended to us. The record went big at Wigan some 9 months later!! "I'm Your Pimp" played at The Mecca off the LP early 75. P.S. I sold a few copies of Hang Up at Wigan, because Pauline still had it in stock.

That's the way I took it as well. Anyway if you look at the lads feedback of what he as bought and you get a good idea whats in the boxes.

Best would have to be Mickie Champion, when it was still covered up as Jodi Williams at the Mecca. Worst would be Ben Zine.

Not read all the posts, but there are lots of gay people on the scene (some open/others not) FACT!! Just like every other scene or way of life, I don't see any problem with this so why debate it. Someone posted said there can't be more than what you can count on two hands, whoever you are did you never go to Prestwich? There was always a group of sometimes 20 or more in the main room and there where aways a few in the modern room. They where there for the cause they liked the music, end of! I personaly think the scene is a better place for there being around, most of them I know you can always have a good laugh with. Dave T.

Some times we do talk about Wigan, records and memories, but most of the time it's utter bollacks just like being at a nighter.

I go on it, and alot of the other groups as well. It's a laugh, nothing more, nothing less. Plus the good thing about Facebook is you find the names of people you have talked to for years at venues and never known their names.

Six years ago, where does the time go? If someone had have asked me, "When did Sheridans go?" I would have said three years, four years tops. Remember reading about the lad's murder in the papers. At least one paper, inplied that this had happened on a soul night! Yes, I know this is not true, before I get bombarded with replies.

Sheridans was great, no matter were we went 1st, we always seen to end up there. Had some great laughs there, I remember one night me and Chris winding Soul Sam up. Knowing how much Sam hated Dean Barlow, we kept getting people to go ask for it when Sam was DJing. Of couse both me and Chris was behind the decks at the time with Sam, and saying to him strange all these people keep asking for that. Another time winding up Andy Dyson about the roof leaking.

A night out without the Misses, and when she is old enough to get it, I can go to a over 60s night. .

Mark, I remember you telling me at the time about some of Barbara's habits, lol.

I did not see the Wally Cox bit at the end of the post. I got mine in the summer of 73 (Va Va's time) for £2. P.S. It still got played at Wigan when it opened.

Barrie would have heard it at Accy Band Club (5 miles from Burnley) before it hit the big clubs. There is a good chance that Andy might have played it Mid Week at Burnley Rose Room, cause the odd time Ginger let him have a go behind the decks.
