  10. I actually appeared in the program alongside Sammy Dee and a crowd of younger folk recruited from college who knew nothing or little of the scene. Sammy and myself were asked to take them across the road from the venue to a club and try and calm, their own style of dancing shall we say to at least try and give the dancing scenes a chance on screen. I write here and slightly off topic but giving i hope a small insight into the making. The Olympics......Philly Dog was featured in the main floor scenes. Between takes i was shouting up to the actor who was on the imitation decks ( all music was played in the background ) Hey Mate ! stick the Olympics on for me ! He just pointed at the decks and shrugged and shook his head totally bewildered he didn't have clue what was playing........we laughed and found it quite funny at the time. Sammy and me were given record boxes to carry in and we sat at a table on the floor and i shouted to Sammy.....God !!! he said what ? i said what have we got in these boxes ? could be full of top tunes worth a fortune. We opened them up and they were crammed with............Frankie Vaughn, Shirley Bassey, Adam Faith, The Searchers etc etc..........bugger ! Many takes were never used and although the continuity was so strict positioning wise it was wasted. Never got paid either as day one was a bank holiday and i had to miss the second day's filming. The company producing the show for the BBC were very absent when it came to paying up it seems talking to others. If any of the directors of the program happen to read this please get in touch and i'll let you have my bank details for the money owed with interest of course. Then i can treat my wife and i to takeaway with the spoils
  11. Please pm me with details.......Thanks
  12. Please pm me with what you have......Thanks
  13. Yes i remember she was in her dress and probably along with the sparkling wine Dave was passing as champers i was thinking they had married that day. If i'm not mistaken he did say champagne though lol
  14. Kaz and Gaz from Harrogate, Ray and Nester, nice to see them again, a great nighter even a glug of Champagne on Dave Evo's wedding night.......well he said it was.
  15. Winka another i can't abide......of all the tunes why o why do they fish from the wrong pond !
  16. At last someone else, thought i was alone with this one, well described too. Just one of many and some already above. For someone giving it a try for the first time walking in to a venue hearing House for Sale would probably have them say ' Wrong venue.....we must be in the Estate Agent's Money for Nothing Annual Ball ! truly should be left as their anthem as its cheese, its a lie about the spacious living room btw......just my opinion.
  17. Not heard anything as yet Neil. My wife saw Johnny just before Xmas he waved passing in his car. Just brings home how fragile life is.
  18. Awful hearing this, only a matter of weeks ago Johnny's Dad also called John and a man i knew arguably better than Johnny and for whom i had great affection sadly passed away, that was a shock in itself and now this terrible news. Hope they are together right now. How his Mother Audrey is coping i don't know, god bless her. RIP
  19. So saddened to learn of Sue's passing. My wife and i got to know Sue nigh on 20 years ago on our first visit to the Monaco Ballroom, Sue made us feel so welcome and then we used to see her at other venues we attended such as the Middleton nighter's eventually being introduced to Pete. Last saw Sue and Pete at Christmas and its so very sad to think we will not see her again out on a floor somewhere dancing the whole night as she did. Our sincere condolences to Pete and family.
  20. Enjoyed the night from the minute i walked in just after 9pm......a great mix of sounds played and well worth the long trek and of course meeting up with some peeps ive not seen for a few years, some since the brilliant Middleton nighter's. Special shout to Eddie for the welcome. Could others add their playlist to Mick's as i'm sure folk thinking of attending will get a good feel then of what they can expect at the next one in March.
  21. Harry how are you me old mate ? Happy New Year to Di and yourself. Further on in this thread there's a photo with Chris standing out......so many years since he passed away, do you have or can you send me a link to the video of him giving it large near the stage when Eddie Holman was on. Had it but lost in a PC crash some years back. Never seen you since your spot at Radcliffe mate and that was a few years ago........hope we can meet up sometime.
  22. Sorry to hear about Dave, not seen him for some years now but always enjoyed chatting to him in the foyer at the Middleton nighters.....some great stories.....a lovely bloke.
  23. Just adding to what has already been said, Steve was a lovely bloke and to say this is a shock would be an understatement. Condolences to Chris.
  24. Agree with the 100% with the man at the top of the thread, bang on Paul.
  25. Late 70's i lent if you like about 20 records to a 'friend' i use the term loosely,a while went by and i says to him one day those records of mine and he answers back quick as a flash which records ? i laughed i just thought he was joking but then it turned serious with me about to kick his lights out and he still swore blind and denied he had ever got them,i let it go as i didn't want the inevitable which was a court appearance at that point.......say no more, so he got away with it,not valuable then but some may have been a few quid now but what a friend !! Hope you get yours returned soon mate.
