I had the first copy that circulated in the UK and knew something was fishy when I saw the later copies appear. Considering it is such an out and out northern sound and came out on a known label it would have turned up years before if the legit press had not been a very rare tune. I remember quietly enquiring with JM, Butch and other US and UK authorities and no one knew anything about it. There was quite a lot of dodgy stuff emanating from the States around that period.

Enchantments is wrong on so many fronts; it still confounds me as to how anyone could pick it out of a pile of records and think there was any musical similarity in genre to Fidels, Salvadors etc. From a similar era that dreadful 'There she goes again' on Columbia and the 'Emotions' c/u - you can tell that I am still deeply traumatised as my memory has adopted a protection strategy and tried to wipe out all recollection of 'artists'. Hi, it's good to see Baz getting a good mention. The term 'character' gets overused a lot and it's difficult to relay what he was like as there are no easy reference points for someone who was as funny, bright and relentlessly manic. Despite being basically slightly mad (in the right way) he was a very capable character in business in spite of ripping the arse out of life on a day by day basis. He had a real passion for the music, leftfield taste and is really missed. i always liked Buzzard as there always seemed to be a good supply of pills long after they had dried up everywhere else and there were always good tunes to be had on the cheap.

Hi, Eddie sang 'She's Wanted' at Stafford. I was not a great fan of live acts but he was amazing. I was looking through records and not concentrating when he started his set and it took me about 20 seconds to realise it was not a DJ playing 'I Surrender'. One of the truly distinctive and great soul voices in my book. Regards Ion
