  14. Once Upon A Time In Wigan is taking place at the Forum Theatre, Stockport July 29-31. Following a similar production in Ashton U Lyne in 2019, the company reached out to me to host the After Party which I agreed to do. If you haven’t seen it yet, hopefully see you soon.
  15. And there will be, a Top 500 Rare, Rarer, Rarest it’s under scrutiny by industry colleagues right now.
  16. I think there will always be a Top 50 that most of us agree on. It’s the other 450 that’s subjective. Strange how tastes have changed though in the last couple of decades, even as the researcher, I do find it heartbreaking that The Sweet Things on Date barely has a pulse, yet Manny Cochado’s Pow Wow has risen prominently. But again, it is about popularity en masse. Still, I have broadened the church so at least the Top 20 fan will be reading about the origins of Acetates, Cover ups, New releases and the like. A good few experts are helping with the sub scenes.

  18. I think most seasoned collectors and fans wouldn’t disagree. I have to look though at the mega interest in the genre as a whole. Main thing is, the book will cover a fair few scenes, giving it more balance than previous editions.
  19. Two decades on and with a rafter of new interest, the book is being re-vamped to include a new 500, based on the North’s best loved dancers spanning well over half a century. More info via... Tap to view this Soul Source News/Article in full
  20. Back in 2000, a book launched to capture the popularity of the greatest music on earth....The Northern Soul Top 500. A best seller at the time, the phrase alone is the second most used within the genre after KTF. Two decades on and with a rafter of new interest, the book is being re-vamped to include a new 500, based on the North’s best loved dancers spanning well over half a century. The book expands to a Collectors and Soul night 500 too, topped off with Unique Trivia, Artist Interviews, DJ chronicles and a wealth of contributions from collectors to dancers and social media movers & shakers. At this stage, we are putting final touches to this historic body of work and by outlining your favourite songs to dance to. Ultimately, it’s all about the music and the grooves that lit the touch paper to our lives. Further details will roll out in coming weeks on the progress of the project and we’ll be hearing from many characters and artists that have made the Northern Soul scene an unrivalled weekend escape.
