Who Was/is James Coit
Mike Szymanski co- owned Phoof and Sandbag. Both labels went bust with the rights reverting to licensors(ie Epitome of Sound) apart from their own masters, which we assume ended up in other hands or not as rhe case may be.

Nope. It's straight up. No one is interested in it though.

Oh! My Darling - Inst?
Dave. Simon Soussan released it in 1975 during his business relationship with Randy Wood. He didn't bootleg it on Mirwood, he had rights ....hence the instrumental. Thanks heavens he did otherwise we might never have got to hear it. It would be good to hear it re-mastered by Kent now they own the catalogue.

Radio Djs Who Went To Wigan Casino
Al Matthews was on CBS. While producing a single on Linda Lewis in 1983, he sang background vocals for me. He starred in several films, the best being the comedy 'Coast To Coast' along with Lenny Henry and John Shea. Dave Raistrick supplied memorabilia to the production company.

General Johnson Rip
I interviewed General and released his 'Bless Your Heart' single a few years ago, this after working with him some 30 years before. A unique vocal. I will edit up a tribute and post up later. For now......the brief history. Johnson made an early start in the music when he began singing in his church choir at the age of six. His recording debut came six years later on Atlantic Records, who waxed his group the Humdingers, although the tracks remain unreleased. In 1961, and following a change in name to The Showmen, Johnson and the group issued via Minit Records the single "It Will Stand." The track was a chart hit in both 1961 and 1964. Although The Showmen recorded other offerings for Minit and Swan, including such hits as "39-21-40 Shape", they split up in 1968.[1] Johnson attempted an abortive solo career before joining the then new Invictus label in Detroit, Michigan. Steered by Holland-Dozier-Holland, Johnson recruited Danny Woods (ex-The Showmen), Harrison Kennedy, and Eddie Custis and created Chairmen of the Board. Their debut single, "Give Me Just a Little More Time", rose to #3 in the US Billboard R&B chart in 1969. Further hits included "(You've Got Me) Dangling on a String" and "Everything's Tuesday."[1] Johnson commenced a career as songwriter with "Pay to the Piper," becoming a modest success for Chairmen of the Board. Other songs he penned were successful when recorded by other musicians. These included the Grammy Award winning "Patches" for Clarence Carter (Jerry Reed also recorded a country music cover version). Invictus Records labelmates Honey Cone recorded the Johnson penned tracks "Want Ads", "Stick Up," and "One Monkey Don't Stop No Show." Also Johnson wrote "Bring the Boys Home", for Freda Payne.[1] Chairmen of the Board's popularity diminshed in the middle of the 1970s, although Johnson and Woods remained together re-billed as the Chairmen. Johnson tried a solo career again in 1979, and his debut solo album on Arista Records was a modest success. He teamed up again with Woods in the following decade, making a living on the beach music circuit.[1] In 1993, having lost little of his distinctive vocal style, Johnson released another album, What Goes Around Comes Around, recorded with Woods. In recognition of the contribution that Johnson has made to American popular music, the Virginia General Assembly designated June 9, 2001 as General Johnson Day in Virginia.

Joe Jama - Anyone Know The Release Date?
I would say more 1972. The label wasn't around for too long and the Royal Jesters is '73. Could be wrong though.

Owls, Snow And Lil' Ole Me..... Posted by The Golden 101, 02 December 2010 Sheffield Wednesday takeover, excellent news, a Saudi Billionaire? Er no....it's Milan Manderic. Oh well, at least he was the best option at the time and, we are fairly debt free. Bye Bye Co-op bank. Got a really busy December with gigs in Stoke at the Queens, Basford on Saturday December 4th, the Christmas Party at the Westgate Suites,Westgate, Long Eaton, then the All Nighter at the Kings Hall Stoke 24 hours later on the 11th and back to the Queens,Basford for a Sunday Soul Session on the 19th. Final gig of the year is New Years Eve back at the Westgate Suites,Long Eaton. Details can be found at http://www.goldsoul.co.uk/ . My colleague Richard Searling is launching the new Go Ahead label this week with two fabulous singles. Both available through Expansion Records. A series of cd's too. I wish him all the best. Where did all that snow arrive from? Oslo is warmer! Looking forward to the New Year as my web sites are getting a makeover- plus we are working on new events in Blackpool, Weston Super Mare. I will keep this month's blog to a minimum as I know planning the Festive Season is both joyous and tiresome at the same time. Hopefully we'll run into each other at one of the Soul events listed above. Have a great Christmas. Until next time...Stay well. Keep in touch via all the usual media..... Talk about planning....Richard Searling and I have the Winter Gardens,Blackpool in the works for Feb 12 next year, while generating a gameplan for the same name in Weston Super Mare on August Bank Holiday 2011. Just love the new Bobby Sheen from his latest CD. The Sam Dees on Shotgun too. Desperately trying to create a window(3 months!) to work on the final updated version of my book 'The Northern Soul Top 500 ala 'the definitive' at the same time scribbling my memoirs to create Right On Keep The Faith and all that. Is it too much of a mouthful? My publisher thinks so? I think there's a story to tell of interest.....let's see if it happens. Keep in touch via all the usual media.....
