  1. I have a spare CBS demo. PM with your Best Offer
  2. Dave- If you can email me, we can formulate a gameplan benefit for Tony. Once agreed, his friends, colleagues, family etc can share in the updates on Soul Source and Facebook. Over to you.......
  3. Destiny was a label formed in Feb 1979 and ceased releasing output in Oct 1980. Originally distributed by Pinnacle before switching to Pye. The label kicked off with authentic Northern reissues such as Dobie Gray, Rita and the Tiaras before falling into the cover version trap, utilising the vocal services of several Shakatak members, a band that Les McCutcheon formed around the same time. In terms of collectabity, I agree, who would want them? There are a few interesting sales notes though..... Best Seller: Dobie Gray Worst Seller: John Leach Rarest on the label: De-lites, due to being withdrawn. We also released an album and 12 inch singles. Discogs should have a complete listing.
  4. Written originally for Gibert O Sullivan who turned it down due to it being a carbon coy of the material he was writing at the time.
  5. Goldsoul had her performing live in 04 at SoultripUSA in Los Angeles. Her main hit was Don't You Say You Don't Remember on Scepter. He's Coming Home(her 1st single) was recorded in 1967 following a talent show win in Chicago. Some cute archive shots of her in the 'Turning My Heartbeat Up' cd I compiled for BMG(RCA) some 10 years ago.
  6. Bob- Yes, I am saying the Jimmy Mack on Hamster is NOT the JM(McEachin..that's how he spells his nbame) who owned the Furys,Mack1V and the actor(Play Misty For Me etc etc). No idea who he is, but when I made a deal with Hamster in late 75/early 76, the label owner was Ron ?, he also had something to do with the 45 Makin Love To Ya-Gotcha. I think I mentioned this on the other thread. Greg Tormo could be right.
  7. Just so as there's no confusion over the Hamster vocalist, Palmer artist and Furys/Alexander Patton producer, they are all different individuals. Mack on Hamster is from New York, MacEachin who for a time was called Jimmy Mack is an actor and author who produced the Furys etc. Apologies if already said on previous threads plus this one.
  8. Ramona Collins- You've Been Cheatin (Clarks) Cash waiting.
  9. Anyone have contact details for Kelly(Newcastle U Lyme) and/or good dancers from Stoke on Trent? Local press are doing a major piece on Northern. PM me.... Thanks in advance.
  10. As I said to Kev Farley, the story is a myth. Edwin told me that 30 years ago and I was the last person to interview him for Smooth Radio before he died. He had no idea how the story got started. Possibly Joanne Bratton who managed Golden World and full of marketing ideas. There is no way the biggest movie star in the world in 1965 would have entertained such trivialities.
  11. Myth. Connery never made any film with Edwin.
  12. One half of the formidable hitmaking team Hall and Oates join me on Sky Channel 0129 at 10am this Saturday. John Oates talks the Temptones,Masters and his worldwide fame. Master mixer Tom Moulton talks Salsoul,Philly International and the Carstairs(his first ever mix in 73) on Signal 2. AM, DAB and on line from 6pm.
  13. Ian- Nothing to say about the Destiny Orch apart from I didn't make a carrot. The session guys became Shakatak.
  14. Yep. I produced it with Les McCutcheon.
  15. Reaching For The Best- The Exciters. Fabulous melody, good song, fantastic vocal from Brenda Reid, but a 2.30 ending would have sealed it!
  16. Pat and I go back to 1975. I met him at Disco Disc in Forest Hills. His first production was for Bobby Robison's BR label in Feb 1967 on the Carlettes 'Im Getting Tired' Very talented fella indeed. I released Kiss and Tell by Tam E Hunt in 1990. Pat wrote it. Ironically, it was close to being recorded by Madonna.
  17. It's a 2nd press some 12 months after the original issue. As stated earlier in the thread, the owner met me while promoting another track by Gotcha. I talked him into pressing 500 of which I took two thirds of the run. The other 170-200 are probably lying unsold in the US or junked. Good record but unfortunately no commercial appeal.
  18. It didn't sell a carrot. Once there were no takers, it was dumped. Rather like cut outs back in the 60's. Who knew there would be demand today!
  19. Pete.....I could write a book, but then again......better not. Wonder whatever happened to the Yvonne Daniels pressing that Bobby Robinson and I did back in 1976? Sold less than 100 out of 300! Junked around 200......where are they?
  20. John Manship wasnt in New York at the time to witness the situation.! Epitome of Sound, Dave Newman etc were made in late 1976.
  21. No idea. Maybe you can tell him.
  22. The darker one isn't a boot. Hamster were in business in 1976 when re-pressed. The original pressing on the lighter green label is from 1975. Colin Curtis originally played it at the Mecca. I met the label owner re-promoting it at the Peppermint Lounge, New York a few months later. The brief UK interest prompted the label to re-press a few hundred? The same label I think had an interest in Gotcha's Making Love To Ya, as they gave me the first copies to bring back to the UK. Hope this clears up the 1st and 2nd pressing for you Bob. H Regards- KR
