  1. How did it get started? Andy Jackson thrashed it on the Modern scene, but how did it suddenly cross over to Northern...anyone know?
  2. It's the weirdest track ever to be popular on the scene isn't it? But I said that about Babe Ruth's Elusive nearly 4 decades ago!
  3. Certainly a strange one TOAD. It goes right back to the Selecta Disc 3 for a quid bin in 1972! Guess it feels right today.
  4. Hey Mark- Agreed. Wasn't mentioned much when I started to collate, but then again it can easily easily turn into a 50!
  5. This year's Top 20 movers n shakers is up at Mixcloud. Just wondering which jobbing jocks have been largely responsible for the current revival tracks or is it largely a collective input? I appreciate most on here are at the sharp end of the scene, so just looking for the grass roots of who's got 'em going again. For instance, Andy Dyson has championed Robert Thomas, Nige Brown with Herb Ward but what of the others? Clearly the No.1 has had such an influence the value stands around 5k. If it's you or a spinner you know of......holler! I appreciate many of the popular tracks have been around forever, but who's hammering 'em now? A totally subjective set of positions based on extensive feedback from popular venues and the inevitable Facebook etc. And of course the recent film. If your not a fan of the popularity.......look away now...... The current 20 with the most feedback are...... 20. TOMMY NAVARRO 19. RITA and THE TIARAS 18. CHECKERBOARD SQUARES 17. HERB WARD-Strange Change 16. LUTHER INGRAM 15. BOB SINCLAIR 14. TONY GALLA 13. JIMMY RUFFIN-Gonna Give 12. HAMILTON MOVEMENT 11. PARISIANS 10. ROBERT THOMAS 9. JEFF PERRY 8. SALVADORS 7. JONATHAN CAPREE 6. SOULUTIONS-Listen 5. THE ORIGINALS- Suspicion 4. MARVIN GAYE-Love Starved Heart 3. TOBI LEGEND 2. RICHIE ADAMS 1. THE TOMANGOES https://www.mixcloud.com/goldsoul/northern-soul-top-20-for-2014without-narration/
  6. As a fellow British collector......it's awful(IMHO) The flip is more listenable as a cover of Randy Newman's Simon Smith and His Amazing Dancing Bear made famous by former Animal Alan Price. Never went big and I can see why! Rare though Pete.....
  7. Honey Baby(Be Mine)-Innervision US Pivate Stock Demo £20 100% Pure Poison-You Keep Coming Back UK EMI Issue £75 Postage-Free PM or email sales@goldsoul.co.uk
  8. 100% Pure Poison- You Keep Coming Back UK EMI Rarity Original Top drawer Modern / Crossover Offers over £75. Message us and we'll let you know by Noon tomorrow. Pricing seems to be a over the place on this one, with copies going between 75 and 150! It's a spare so we are not fussed either way!
  9. But there ain't one on this year until meladdo attempted to make it work with 3 weeks to go. That's not promoting but sheer stupidity and EGO Led!
  10. About as unethical as the 'current' promoter contacting the venue in the last few days to hurriedly try and book a New Years Eve All Nighter.......with the Kings Hall Stoke(just down the road) already advertised a year ago. Who does that? It's certainly not financially motivated....ego however that's a different matter.
  11. Mace...I am happy and I have no intention of wanting it all. I give encouragement to promoters who ask for help. I plug gigs(including yours) on the radio to ones that don't even bother to advise me. I am aggravated over certain issues here. Peace.
  12. Of course it's no competition, it's just the way he went about it. Grabbing a venue 20 yds from the Kings while never even contacting me. And of course he's 'doing it for the love of the scene'......if that's the case, why not do something similar in a different town and on a night we are not on. The Kings were furious as they want folks out of the cold and in their building as soon as. Weatherspoons alone are a constant threat Mace.......I have a different view(and so do colleagues) of mine on the promoter in question . Best we agree to disagree. To close, although I think it will continue on and on......The Box was offered to another promoter by the owner. Shouldn't Jez Jones be taking up his dismay with him? instead of singling out others who have made it clear THEY ARE NOT INTERESTED IN THE VENUE.
  13. Absolutely right. Do you want to get back to The Box offering the venue to Chris Burton with Jez Jones being shunted out the door and me urging Chris to pull away and leave em to it?
  14. Like what could be different to our 2nd room The Windsor with Soul Sam, Ted Massey, Tim Ashibende or R&B and underplayed 60's with John Heaney?
  15. Where in any of his advertising did he say it was warm up for the Kings Hall Stoke All Nighter? And what does Change mean? I take it as 'two fingers up' to a prominent All Nighter.
  16. Is this still going on? Anybody got any decent records to sell? F*** all on EBay
  17. Of course not. No one can copyright the word Torch. However, the Torch logo and emblem relating to his former club he owns.
  18. I didn't think it would be long before you turned up. Pour yourself another one.
  19. Then stop commenting on something you know f*** all about. I said 24 hours ago that Chris Burton has no intention of promoting The Box, even though the owner is still trying to get him in. What does that say about the current promoter. FFS!
  20. Lovely comment from a 'moderator'. Leave the scene and quickly!
  21. Why not indeed....let it drop. Topic starter over to you......
  22. And here's the best bit of all.........Chris was still being offered the venue even TODAY!
