YOUR PROVOCATIVE STATEMENT!
’The Younghearts manager (probably Booby Sanders) was a bit ruthless & used to screw the group members over money on a regular basis’
YOU HAVE NO EVIDENCE WHATSOEVER and have never met the guy.

At least we don’t start waffling without having some deep knowledge about the subject matter. We knew Bobby Sanders well
Cease with the ‘I have no evidence’ routine, as it becomes disrespectful to the person named.

Quote you ‘I don’t have evidence’
Quit dissing respected music legends you have never met. You have no scientific evidence whatsoever!

The Younghearts, New Younghearts & Kings of Hearts are all, in a way, the same group.
BUT THEY DIDN'T HAVE THE SAME MEMBERS ... The Younghearts manager (probably Booby Sanders) was a bit ruthless & used to screw the group members over money on a regular basis. So when a member would get tired of this he'd quit the group, sometimes all the members would quit at the same time.
Bobby wasn't bothered, he'd just find a different group, sign em, rename em and a few days later the Younghearts, NYH or KofH would be back on the road undertaking the groups bookings.
I seem to recall, Al Boyd telling me that after he'd relocated to LA, the Imperial Wonders were even a set of Younghearts for a few days.
Find the allegation against the late Jerome Lenoir(Bobby Sanders) quite distasteful. Ever met him?
A very nice guy who helped us tremendously at SoultripUSA in March 04 attracting many LA Soul legends including Younghearts lead Ron Preyer, another Bobby S protégée who speaks well of the man.
If Alphonso Boyd(I interviewed him in 85) operated as a version of the Younghearts group, he never mentioned it.
Bobby was entertaining and genuinely helpful.
He got on famously with everyone present including 300 Brits.

Extremely shocked hearing the sad news my friend and former recording artist LINDA LEWIS(Linda Fredericks) has passed.
A UK treasure with a wonderful multi octave vocal, I first met her in 1983 after producing her sister Shirley.
She took a chance and recorded ‘Class Style’ for Electricity records with me in 1984 and although a minor success in the UK, it was a European hit.
Putting together her revival tour with Tony Denton she worked tirelessly to help deliver success.I remember her giving me a recording cassette of ‘Selfish One’ her first demo for Polydor in late 1965 after our late night music chat in Amsterdam.
We last met at Corinne Drewery’s 50th birthday and laughed our socks off at ‘the love hate relationship’ with ‘that track’………..What a fabulous voice!
My sincere condolences to the Fredericks family. A remarkable talent and a pleasure to have known you.
Rest in peace……… Linda Lewis- 2

I know this is an old topic but I'm new to Soul Source. Is anyone in contact with Simon today?
Yes and he doesn’t want to speak about Northern openly. He’s based in LA.

I remember Richard serling saying kev Roberts left it on a chip shop counter which gave it a warp.
Completely untrue. The disc had a slight warp when Jonathan Woodliffe sold it to me. I believe it was damaged when Les McCutcheon the first UK owner loaned it temporarily to a third party.

Apparently....I learned this from listening to Steve Glover's FB show yesterday and can't imagine why it's not all over Soul-Source, unless of course it's not true, which I hope it isn't. J.T. made some great records but for me The Beautiful Night is one of the greatest ever, self penned too! My first copy cost me a fiver at the Vavas. Lost that over the years and its replacement set me back £320 a few years back!
Steve is a highly respected collector who goes back to the 60's and formerly co-owner of Soul Galore record stores in Birmingham and Manchester. His shows are on Fridays, usually 7pm - 9pm, well worth a listen and soon to be on You Tube. He needs YT subscribers. It's free! Just go to Soulboy Steve on YT.
It was announced a week ago by PP Arnold, Phil Harding and others on Facebook.
Well done to Steve for highlighting.- 1

Richard’s take on Soussan’s involvement is pretty accurate. Certainly 1973-75 he was undoubtedly the prime influence.
To clear up your notion of a ‘record dealer type who just got lucky with a few home made versions’……….you can be forgiven for thinking that. However, if you knew him, he was very creative and passionate about Northern who stamped his mark with unique ideas and more importantly incredible finds.
He was an excitable person. Infectious and knowledgeable and generally a good guy.
Some may paint a different picture………- 6

Afternoon on the rhino wasn't played the first night.
Bubble Gum Breakthro' was the big Mike Post sound at that time, which happened to be on the Fused LP as well as the 45. On that LP was another great track, A.O.T.R., which Kev Roberts picked up on, he wasnt in the original Wigan deejay line-up and played it months later.
Cheers, Chris
The venue opened on Sept 23rd. I was hired on September 30th the following Saturday.

In case you haven’t heard the original of ‘One Minute’ Thank heavens for John Miles
- 2
-
Firstly, JOHN MILES Rest in peace.
Born John Errington in Jarrow, Tyne and Wear.
He had 4 singles on Cliff Cooper’s Orange label.
3 were Club hits from the get go……1. Why Don’t You Love Me. 2. Yesterday(was just the beginning) 3. One Minute Every Hour, by far his most popular ‘up North’ selling more than 10k early through mid 70’s.
ironically, this isn’t the original. Vanda & Young(Easybeats) wrote it for John Farnham, who released it in Australia. More of a Rock version.
A 4th single Hard Road is less desirable.
Moving to Bristol, he signed to Decca and slammed the charts with ‘Music(was my first love) and Highfly.
Really good vocalist and musician. A good body of work from the man.

Thanks for the mention. JR Bailey’s ashes by the way are on my dear friend Bobby Jay’s mantle piece.
Adding a touch of trivia to the comments raised, JB Troy could be BJ switched around and Troy could refer to Jeff Troy, Bobby’s colleague at WWRL radio station. That’s my view. I will endeavour to ask BJ as I work with him at 45 Radio, where he presents America’s Greatest Hits.
Both JR and Vernon were clearly go to guys to improve various sessions for busy labels such as Wand, Decca, Kapp etc.
