  3. it did the trick all them years ago in mrm's . folks off their heads packed dance floor along with the atmosphere ,what was acceptable then is now seen as old this that n the other . but would some of todays stuff be acceptable back then .....not a chance ! peoples tastes change along with the music for me it was good at the time and i would never disrespect it , ive heard much worse on the present northern (scene) i meant lol
  4. yeah i agree top tunes from all, but more than owt' i thought del boy cunliffe put a good selection together

  9. your welcome but i only mentioned it the once ! anyway i didn't keep it in the serious context of CLUB CULTURE did i ?
  10. doncaster warehouse and sub club acid jaxx scotland
  11. you get though some records you do phil best o luck anyway
  12. i'm also very sure the clubbing normal masses of the late 60s will not accept this documentary as being anything like factual. as it didnt include a whole generation that had started a dance club culture that might not have been as accepted and as big as todays or the 80s scene .but very much a pretty similar scene complete with similar drugs . btw i did like and enjoy a lot of the rave scene and house .i visited many of the clubs that were mentiond in the programme ...loved those nights and enjoyed some of the programme as well ,
  13. eh? the dance scene that became northern did in fact start in night clubs and there was defo a club culture since the late 60s as already mentiond in a post further up and it wasnt in any old working mens clubs or dance halls either what do you think went on at the wheel then? there were clubs springing up all over the place open all night unlicensed hence the term underground , what do you think they did there play darts and dominoes or somthing ? how do you think amphetamine became so popular
  14. according to them it all started with disco and the drug that changed the dance scene was mdma er? wrong on both counts i would say
  15. you would need to ask the people who bought the record , im sure there must be many reasons but im just pointing out the fact that lots of people buy records on credit cards and somtimes are willing to give a little more if they have got more time to pay . not sure i understand the answer further up the page lol but never mind
  16. credit cards and longer time to pay ....simple as that
  17. im in complete agreement. i stil use the term in comparison to funk soul r&b and so on when talking about diferent music. but i feel these days the term has been manipulated completely it conjures up this embarrassing image of dressing up as stated above. needless to say i'm wary when using the term and i spend a lot of time trying to explain northern soul the dance scene (not the reminisers scene)
  18. The Twisted Wheel club in Manchester is known as the birth place of Soul in the UK making this a truly Iconic Club, through out the world. the legendary status came about viar northern soul fans later on ( that i would agree with ). but regarding the above statment i cant agree with as blues and soul music was being played at many clubs around the uk before during and after the wheel. each club had its own following and was popular within its own town or city ,
  19. i think every soulie in wigan knew them mate i personally have some cracking stories but cant repeat them on here . i understand kenny was caught out on the stage in the main hall one night im told it involved a young woman and the piano as the curtains unexpectedly opened
