  8. not sure about the oldies only mate . i know it became an oldies room later on but in the early days it was just another room to accommodate the sheer number of people .in the early days many of the floor fillers of the day would be played along with older stuff i tried to explain it to friend the other day what it was like in there , to get from one part of the room where the little stage was to the other end near the toilets was a task , you had to pick your way though the folks all stood around the dance floor no easy task . complete strangers would just stick there arm out offering cola or chewing gum to anyone around them , for me there hasnt been another atmosphere in any club that could match it, as for dancing you couldnt even lift an arm up or hardly move your feet at times just a mass of sweaty bodies bouncing up n down .many times i ventured on the floor only to have to make a dash for the bogs to throw up coz the floor was alive .i could swear that dance floor bounced about 2 foot in the air at times it was the heavy duty party people's room. no doubt about it prophets ...i got the fever
  9. dare i say it' but ...don thomas come on train . people bouncing off the dance floor the stomping was that bad all in time with the sound down exiters reaching for the best , and anyone who went in there in the early days will also remember a mad dash for ....THE SNAKE may be ridiculed these days but it was played then .music jeanette white psychedelic soul saxie russell you could go on forever anything fast n furious lots from the torch, i lived in that room and become thinner and thinner until i disapeard

  16. yeah realy ......take away the boots and the boot clubs and there would be more people at fewer venues rather than empty clubs ....may be people would be ecouraged to travell a little . but we have had this over and over again no point in harping on about it
  17. top post phil, everything that needed to be said is in that post im so glad you said it because i would have been about 3 days trying to convey all that with my english n spelling even if i was as clever as you , but i'll just add this little bit ....when this scene was first taking off .ie clubs playing imported black dance/soul music dj's buying it . wasnt it all original and wasnt all the clubs packed to the rafters ? the biggest killer of the northern scene is the bootleg and for good measure the mas production of them and the tw..s playing them .
