  1. hear, hear gazman, not much beats spinning a fiver-sound that sounds like a lot, lot more and it's not the financial saving that does it, it's the reaction of the paying public. soul heaven as they may say.
  2. must admit,i never posted on SS about the EASC. peple may have posted about me but such is the want of some, never mind, water under the bridge and all that. i know stef's keen to help anyone with promotion and if the poster doesn't get any assistance from his/her own area i'm sure stef would be very pleased to help out.
  3. that's good because it was an honest and respectful answer.
  4. mine would be "The Northern Soul Scene" so we can wipe the slate clean and start again without all those "It's gotta be 60s and 100 MPH" steriotypes of this wonderful scene of ours, oh, and if you're throwing your phet wraps away we could always sell thm and raise money for the Coop's turn-my-boots-into-originals charity!
  5. have you tried stef malajny? i think his diary's got some windows in it.
  6. yeah but WTF is a "Soulie"? is it like a microwave or a type of car?
  7. entertainers' versions' close harmonies at the end win it for me, delightful record, although, nowt wrong with bobby p's version, i must say i sold my bobby patterson when i got the entertainers because it was getting a better reaction at the venues i played it at.
  8. i'm with you there casper, and here's the really cleaver thing, i can multi task..... i can listen to the music while dancing!!!!!!! some may try this, believe me, it works
  9. ditto, couldn't have put it better myself.
  10. could be worse, could be lavine making one with infuriating 'disco' beat stapled on the an otherwise perfect record.... oh, bugger, been done hasn't it! sorry.
  11. i'll have a pint of what these guys are on please..... no, make that two then i can forget about the special one not being quite so special anymore!!!!
  12. tony clark - wrong man, blew me away first time i heard it THEN..... did the same thing when i heard it played by chris forrest at newark because it was soooo long since i first heard it i'd all but forgotten it. in another 30 years (when i'm 79 yrs old i hope it does it to me again)
  13. notts palais, about 77 or 78, the place is packed, me and big frank from p'boro ask rob smith st play sam williams (fingers), it was like the parting of the red fuckin' sea. ALL sat down but me and frank. record finished, mr.smith said something like "at least there's two soul fans here today" proceeded to play james coit.... packed the floor? i have no answer and you can make your own questions up but.... all those coiters at the palais... hang your heads in pop-music shame.
  14. and we ALL love you paul
  15. this month's "sneaked-in-under-the-fence-event-advert-award" goes to mr, PD nice one paul
  16. people were getting worried as young Rt. Hon Martin Barnfather starting to leave his socialist ideals behind and started leaning to the right! (i guess they only clamped one side of the decks)
  17. that's a bit judgemental Mr.T, a man once said something like that in the 1930s and 12 million people that didn't fit in with his ideals were actually culled! .... just saying
  18. i agree totally bazza, get ALL the northern genre played in a venue, something for all even if only one room available then others can hear something different and maybe grow to appreciate it more.
