  3. did offer to pay them (skegg soul club) but they never replied! so ssshhhhh! they may not notice
  4. it's all subjective, one can't have a genreic 'soul-o-meter'. some maria callas' puccini araias would have a soulful content which would blow the soul-o-meter's socks off. it's soul jim, but not as we know it. luckily there is a vast collection of people around our scene that have in-built soul-o-meters and they are pretty damned accurate but only to like minded people. as i say..... subjective. sadly mr. godin should have christened it 'northern dance' and then all the ghosts of controversy would most certainly be laid to rest..... except..... one man's dancer is anotherman's enjoyable up-tempo little number!

  6. THE SCENE: A village in Panto Land THE CHARACTERS: Jack ( a villager) Abanazza (himself) THE PLOT: Jack decides to hold a dance for all who those in Panto Land who may wish to turn up. (hooray) Jack invites Abanazza to come along and provide some of his favourite music (which Abanazza does and is paid for his troubles). Abanazza tells Jack that he had a throuroughly good time and would come and play his music for Jack once again if asked. (hooray). The following year Jack organizes another dance for all those in Panto Land but all is not well in Panto Land and Abanazza contacts Jack and says he (Abanazza) is organising one of his own and asked if would Jack kindly arrange his dance for another date so the two would not clash, Jack of course does this (hooray). although he didn't understand why Abanazza had chosen the SAME DATE in the SAME VILLAGE in Panto Land as Jack had done. (boo-hiss) As the year goes on Jack suddenly finds out that Abanazza (he's behind you) had also moved his own dance to that very same date that Jack did his, thus causing a clash of dates. (boo-hiss). Abanazza also decided that he would charge nothing for the villagers and people of Panto Land to come to his dance meaning more would come to his dance and none would go to Jacks (boo-hiss). Jack was very disappointed and hurt by this but still soldiered on making arrangements for his original dance. Then, just to disappoint and upset Jack even more and twist the metaphoric knife deep into Jacks' back, his once colleague (Abanazza) sends a message (by the new fangled e-mail) inviting Jack to Abanazzas' dance and also telling him that his dance would now be playing the same style of music as Jacks and even using some of Jacks' musicians! (boo-hiss). The moral of this little Northern Soul Panto is.......... Never expect a Leopard OR an Abanazza to change his spots! Fact is often stranger than fiction!
