  1. Inkey Social, Wow !! Used to play there alongside a young John Poole ( when he had hair ) and the legend and true gentleman that was Nev Wherry. Wednesdays I think Spike, Temple Normanton was Tuesdays ( If memory serves) Got on the Bus to Inkey with my records and always used to get bothered by a kid ' can I look at your records mister ?? ' He would get off and sit outside the Social listening to the music - Tim, if you are reading this ?!?! Met some lifelong freinds at Inkey. Johnny Wright, Glyn Maycock ( sorry if its spelt wrong ).Doz is still around, been to The Phoenix a couple of times !! Spike, when he was a snot nosed little kid ( no change there then ?!?! Lol !! ) All the Chesterfield 'Massive' where there week after week. No entry unless you had your card, the old bloke on the door was very strict ( unless you knew him !!). Tiny floor in front of the stage and got a ramshackle collection of lookers on all fascinated by this new breed of young kids and their love of Soul and the frantic somewhat athletic Dances ( 40 years ago perhaps ) Still reference it in my sets as it was a major influence, Nev always brought something new - remember 'Wall of Sound' ?? Not a Casino or Samanthas but has a special place in the Heart !!
  2. Awesome. Is this after a night on the piss with the mates ?? Are we talking about Music in general or are we just talking bollocks. The whole ethos behind the Northern Soul culture is ... Oh whats the point !! By the way. Northern Soul was never a body of music that needed to constantly change or evolve, only for those who had had enough and sort out change for changes sake.
  3. We run a little club in Chesterfield and try to get some big names whenever we can as well as the 'well known local guys' . We have a 'Warm Up' spot for an hour 8:30 - 9:30 and let unknown, local DJ's ( or anyone who asks ) play and often get excellent feedback about them. Tend to get something a little left field when you do so, and they are greatful of the chance to air their vinyl. I'm not exactly MickH or Ted M myself but seldom get invited to play elsewhere - maybe they are trying to tell me something !! We don't book DJ's ourselves to get a reciprical spot, naughty. It is rather frustrating to see the same old faces week after week. There are a few 'Local' events that seem to have the same DJs, more than once a year in some cases, which is a real shame as they are quality venues and have great potential, but hey, who am I to tell them how to run their club ?? As a promoter do you look to the Cash Tin and feet through the door or play away from the Top 500 and establish a reputation - If you Build it, they will come !! Tricky. Easy from the outside looking in ?!?!?!
  4. Damn. I've been outed !! Quality track though, a real Samantha's Classic...
  5. No !! I'm not sure if it's legit ?!?!? Wondered if anyone else has seen a Stock Copy - Real or not !!!
  6. I've got a 'Stock Copy'. It looks very good, Brown Label (No Demo message) but not sure where its from !?!?!
  7. Are we talking 'Demo's ' here or was it released as a Stock Copy ??
  8. It was Spike. Stuart was and still is a nice guy but more into Flower Power than Power Stompers. Was a business though and catered for all. Remember when Punk was big and they opened the door to the Safety Pin Brigade. It was always a meeting place, a focal point in little ole Chesterfield. Samantha's Friday Night, back to town to The Burlington Grill, down to The Record Centre to see if you could get a copy of 'that record' they played last night them into The Painted Wagon to plan our assault on The Casino that night.
  9. Mr Fanthom is a good freind, will pass on your regardsTezza XXX
  10. Yeh, Loved that place. Some Kinda Mushroom moved down from the end of Newbold Road and Stewart was the guy that ran it ?? He now has the 'Nice' Clothes shop next to the Winding Wheel. Used to call in every Saturday and check out the stuff he had. Regular haunting ground for many of the Chessy Soul Boys and Girls - That and Birlington Grill !!
  11. Coach organised by Gray Weaver from Chesterfield to The Casino. Stopped just outside Wigan on a quiet stretch of road. Everyone stuffed their gear into some bags and threw them through the Sun Roof on the Coach. Sent on our way with a warning even though they found sod all. Pulled in at the Casino Car Park and the bag was still on the Coach roof Result !!!

  22. I am not slagging off Mickey. When my Dad died he was a shadow of the Man I grew up with and looked up to and seeing him in that condition is my last memory of him. A once powerful man ravaged by a terrible desease and left him a shell. The Wheel, the building, is but a shell and deteriorated to a state where it looks like a squat. If it closes tomorrow it will be my final memorie of a once great club. The Music will live on in our hearts and we share the memories with our friends. I'm not dissing the Music, The Atmosphere, The Punters etc I just dont want to see it fade away and leave a sad picture behind. Love and respect to all the guys and girls that are keeping it alive but the Life Support Machines batteries are waning and the light is only kept glowing through the good intentions of honest people like yourself. If it can be saved and 'restored' hurrah, but if it is to go then so be it. I suppose I should really take heed and rethink my stratogies. Join the masses and save her - perhaps !!
  23. Not been for years so decided to call in on The Wheel a couple of Months ago.Its time to let go and leave the old lady to pass away in peace. Clinging to a memory that has long gone. The Wheel led the way for others to then carry the Flag such as The Torch, The Casino etc. Its not The Wheel any more, its an old semi derilict building that is in desperate need of either restoration or the wrecking ball.Let us bow our heads and remember .....
  24. I deffo need help !!!
