  1. Friday afternoon and all the bloody wekend - 'do you know whats on this weekend, who's on there, what time does it start, who's going' Dont think people are too bothered to Book Ahead anymore. If you make it Ticket only other Events will use it as a pulling point " No Tickets Required " Theoretically a good idea, practically ?
  2. Often get more feedback etc from a Toon that creates an emptyish floor. But not always Lol !!
  3. The Vinyl Bags were prevelent at School etc at the time but not part of the Garb at the Soul Clubs. It was all about style over substance. Had a Samantha's Badge - The nice deep Red one, but it was attached to my Blazer Breast Pocket. Looked really cool. Apart from that, the Fist Logo etc - laughable. To be honest, even the Casino Badges looked a little gaudy. Buy a badge and stick it in a draw to fish out 30 odd years later to rekindle the Memories ?
  4. You can't remember that far back to be honest Bazza.
  5. The Twisted Wheel ! Isn't that the Club that closed in 1971. Reopened somewhere else using the same name. Closed, burnt down then fell into the swamp but reopened somewhere else using the same name ? (may have change by time of publication) Nice looking things but wont be worn by the people that do. Saying that, when I was at Uni I saw a lot of Students with Che Guevara T Shirts on. Today I see T Shirts of Bob Marley, The Beatles, Led Zep etc. Don't read too much into it, they just look nice (to them that buy's them init).
  6. Pottsy !! Why do all the good ones come on when my account is on a low. I will be back when I am in the Black, if HH is still around although I can't see that to be honest !!
  7. Hi, Hope you don't mind but I have printed the 'Links' to read later when I am at Lunch. Later Tezza XX
  8. Yep, my thoughts entirely. Be true to yourself at all times. If it's the Money side then I can't see there being an issue, should be straight forward - Not that I advocate that in any way ! If its the Music make sure you are wearing a Tin Hat and don't give in to the rhetoric that will be hurled in your direction.
  9. It will really depend on the reasons for running an event. Is it Money oriented or Music oriented. If you know what you ultimately want then persevere. You will get people investigating to see what this new place is all about and if it is their thing then they will come back. If not then they are the people you don't really need anyway ! You can't please everyone so as long as you please yourself then you have reached your Goal. I am predominantly an Oldies boy but do not disrespect others for their own preferences. Its yours, do what YOU want with it.
  10. Storm - Sweet Happiness - Sunflower WLD - £20 Al Kooper - The Monkey Time - Columbia WLD - £10 [4J'2 featuring Jr Pope - Love My Love - Congress Radio Station Copy - £20 Open to offers !!
  11. Did you get in free with 1/2 dozen Jam Jars or a ball of Silver Paper ?
  12. No Pete, that was a different episode. They seem to be following me ...
  13. There are some decent folk out there.
  14. Richard - Remember the rules, If you are putting on Links etc don't forget to accompany them with Text descriptions for the less fortunate of us that do not have access at work to such luxuries.
  15. Never got my head around the fascination there is these days with the 100mph label. Events promising 100% 100mph - Like it used to be ??? Not from what I recall but then again I am getting on a bit. Its all about the mix and a good DJ can satisfy most peoples need and wants in a night. Some quality stuff chucked out on this thread that would and should be welcome anywhere.
  16. Yesterday I sent the following message to someone in Canada who bought a £5 Pressing from me ( Marv Johnson - Come On and Stop) :- Hi, I am sorry but I have had to issue you a refund. When packing the record I noticed that there was a Chip in the edge plus a small Crack. It wasn’t there when I listed the item and no one is owning up to the damage. Sorry for any inconvenience. Almost immediately I received this reply :- You sure you're not lying? I know I got a great deal on this record and you're probably just saying it's chipped so you don't have to sell it to me. Send me a picture of the chip please if not I'll open a claim with eBay. Thanks. - bangnshouter I did reply so:- Good price. Its a pressing and worth no more than £5 or £10. I take offence at being called a liar and I do not have to justify my actions. You have had a full refund. Open a claim with E-Bay, for what ? Do not appreciate being threatened in this way. If you feel you want to waste time opening a 'claim' then you go ahead. Hardly a multi million pound conglomerate. Is this how we do business in Canada ? I work on trust and would never dream of double dealing or misrepresentation. Thanks for your interest but as far as I am now concerned this is the end of the transaction. I think I may try to avoid using E-Bay, more trouble than its worth !!
  17. I just sold a Pressing for £5, the original fetches £250 - £300. They immediately raised it with E-Bay as not as described despite the listing saying it was a Press. Why not speak with me first and things could have been resolved. Refunded and told him to stick the record as it wouldn't be worth the trouble. No scruples some folk.
  18. Open to offers :- Free Postage within the UK and next Day Posting. Honey Cones - Its Better To Have Loved and Lost - Hotwax Demo £20 The Tymes - This Time Its Love - Winchester WLD - £30 Open to reasonable offers. PM me
  19. I thought it was just me !! CD's, 12" - Thought I'd wondered into a Parallel Universe !!!
  20. Are they Matchbox or Corgi ?
  21. So, send us a copy or 2 to get them aired over here. Nice Demo would be great - Vinyl of course !! How do we get hold of one then ??
  22. I popped along to North Wings last Month, as I tend to do most Months. They had the usual couple of guest DJ's on with but with contrasting styles. Both are quality DJ's and I love them both, individually are brilliant but would they work together on the same night ?? Martin Stanford - The happiest and most outgoing of DJ's on the scene Lord Ted Massey - Very quiet and laid back, almost dour in his delivery yet keeps you hanging on his every word. Both delivered sets to die for and left the assembled masses gagging for more. Worked amazingly well for me and the rest of the North Wings gang. Have you seen two more diverse characters behind the decks. Either a match made in heaven, or in hell !!
  23. We held an event at The Hollingwood in Chesterfield this Saturday gone. So many people turned up that we had to move into the Car Park and close the Road for Safeties sake. It was a blessing in disguise as it was so hot on the Dance floor that the AC couldn't cope. WE may have to sell tickets in advance next time to limit the numbers !!!! We did have a do at The Hollingwood. The Music was Fabulous and a good gathering of folk. Not exactly Kings Hall but we did OK. 50 or 60, and that was just the average age Ha ha !!
  24. Don't forget Al Wilson
  25. No, I mean buggered if you don't have a Car at 4 in the Morning ! Yes, they call them 'Mini Allnighters !!'
