Eventually we sort the Wheat from the Chaff ( at least that is what we hope would happen ) Went to an event run by a Friend in Rotherham this Friday. Not the most salubrious of places but Music we wanted to hear out. Not packed but those there had a blast. Went to an event on Saturday that was packed but played the stuff we here from venue to venue. What is the bench mark - Packed venue or the Music therein ? If it doesn't please you then show them how it should be done, as far as you are concerned.

I fear that the up and coming Culture Show offering is going to cause another rift in our already fragile scene. Lets all be grown up about this, opinions are just that, opinion. We don't all agree with each other but the least we should do is respect others opinions. Sad world if we all thought the same. Watch it, take it to Heart and decide which side of the fence you sit but do not ostracize others for having a different point of view. Remember The Carstairs !! As a sustainable scene it will inevitably tipple over, cough and fall into the Anuls of History. The 'Scene' of which I and a few others are probably part of - ie: Dressing Up - are we all Tarred with the same Brush ?? This Saturday there are 57 events listed on SS - 57. Not bad for something on Life Support. I do agree with you though, it's on borrowed time. The Music will never Die. As long as there are recordings but in reality it will be something that will be looked back at as being a fad, a very long running and well attended fad but non the less a fad. Drifting a little off topic again me thinks.

Yeh, but thats not dressing in Fancy Dress, that's proper cool looking gear. Got a nice 2 Tone Suit that a friend of mine's Dad used to wear in a Band they were in in the 60's. Looks stunning - Needs letting out an inch or 2, 3, 4 ..... You're never too old to Dance ! Saw a guy, see him around a few places, old 60's style suite, Slim with glasses. Gets up, moves his feet around a bit - not Gethro but looks great.

There are no where near enough 'Young Souls' to sustain it Bazza, it will fall away and perhaps the odd reunion weekend etc. Great while it lasted but it will, as you say, die with us as a genuine 'scene'.

Jimmy Conwell - Too Much I'm Smoking more but enjoying it less I get a whole lotta sleep but i don't get enough rest. Can't recall when I first heard this but virtually the whole song is given with such emotion. Most of the lines are clever, humerous (in a strange kind of way) and thought provoking

Earl Van Dyke, Dick Van Dyke, The Van Dykes ? I do not see the relevance of a full floor being the sign of a great night. Anyone, and I mean anyone, can fill a Dance floor with the cheapest tackiest pieces of Northern Soul. Just stick on 1/2 dozen Motown tracks that always works. A lot of folk don't go to Dance, a lot of folk can't Dance any more or just can't Dance. They sit around and listen and appreciate. This is not a reference to what Sean played as I didn't hear it so .... You cannot get a packed floor when playing something a little different, they do not go hand in hand. Packed floor all night usually means, and I loathe to use the phrase, Top 500. Both ways ? Not gonna happen

Sean had been out the previous night or 2 at a Ska/Latin/Soul mix night. Perhaps he hadn't come down from that experience by the time he did the Crewe few. So, basically, what you are saying is Sean played a shit set, or at least not to your liking along with some of the 'knowledgeable' ones ? Didn't go, cannot comment. You don't really need a Play list to confirm what you heard, unless you didn't go and you just need to see it to believe it ? You either loved it or hated it ( and a bit in between ). The same shit being played by same DJ's is nothing new and has been thrashed to within an inch of its miserable life on here numerous times and probably will be again. Someone coming along and playing something a little left field is great to see/hear and we must embrace it but not strangle it to the point they have to play the wierd and wonderful to enhance their reputation. I was trying to understand what he was infering with that particular comment also. Looked at Feedbacks, a little sparce but nothing other than what you expext - cracking night, floor full, pack and DJ's were awesome !!
