  1. Really looking forward to getting back behind the decks at the Festival this coming Saturday following my spell being cared for by our wonderful NHS! I'm (sort of) fit and well and raring to play those tunes so loved and appreciated by the Fitzsoul crowd. Always a great night at the Festival. See you Saturday everyone. All the best, Jim.
  2. Hi Fitzsoulies. Under normal circumstances I would have been joining Fitzy on the decks at the Festival on Saturday but for a continuing stay in the care of our wonderful NHS at the QMC. But who else to fill the spot but my friend, your friend, everybody’s friend Mr Rob Yates. The man needs no introduction and is a Fitzsoul legend whether it’s Motown or Northern. The guy gets you dancing on his enthusiasm alone. Get down to the Fez and enjoy more of that feeling. Hopefully I will be back at the Festival sometime very soon. All the best Jim D
  3. Off on our travels again Bank Holiday weekend so sadly will miss this one, but have to say if you pondering where to go on the Bank Holiday Sunday afternoon then you can't go wrong going to the Festival Inn for Sunday's Got Soul on 27th August. Fitzsoul events at the Festival Inn are always special. but the Sunday sessions definitly are worth travelling that much further for. Have a great afternoon folks. See you at the Festival very soon.
  4. Following my world tour its great to be back for Fitzy again for what will be my 75th appearance as a guest DJ at the Festival Inn. This month the quirk of the calendar means that it's a Fitzsoul Mini-weekender. Friday 7th July will be Tamla Motown and Club Classics with Rob Yates and Saturday 8th July will be Across the Board Northern Soul, Modern, R&B and some of those Motown oldies beloved on the Northern Soul scene, with Fitzy and myself spinning the vinyl. Always a great night at the Festival. Wonderful music, great crowd. See you on Saturday 8th July Fitzsoulies.
  5. All set for the Festival tonight. Always a great night. Friendly folks, dancing to great music. See you later Fitzsoulies.
  6. G'day. Crocodile Jim D here back from down under. Looking forward to playing with Fitzsoul's new sound system on Saturday 15th April. Don't forget this is not our normal 2nd Saturday of the month but is the 3rd Saturday this month. See you then Fitzsoulies.
  7. We are still enjoying our travels ‘Down Under’ so will miss what is always a great night at The Fez. We all know Rob Yates is the best Motown DJ out there but he also has some great Northern Soul in his record boxes too so it will be a fantastic Fitzsoul night next Saturday. We will be back from our travels in time for Sundays Got Soul at the end of March. See you then Fitzsoulies! KTF
  8. Looking forward to getting back to the Festival on Saturday night, and honoured to be the first Fitzsoul guest DJ of 2023. Always a great night and a great crowd. See you Saturday Fitzsoulies.
I would like to echo what Fitzy has said about what a great night it was at the Festival on both Friday and Saturday night. Thanks for inviting me back to DJ for the first time in nearly six months Kev! On Saturday as well as the Fitzsoul regulars it was lovely to see so many new faces and some familiar friends not seen at the Festival for a long long time. We hope you come back soon! Some great comments and feedback from everyone for my set, so thank you for that. Gregory Porter continues to be a favourite! See you soon everyone. Jim D

Just a quick word to say I can’t believe that the Fitzsoul Jersey Weekender is over for another year, and what a fantastic event it was at the new venue, the MERTON HOTEL. Excellent facilities, outstanding food, lovely staff and a great atmosphere. Made extra special by all the wonderful guests. Great to see so many familiar faces and loads of new ones too. On behalf of Rob Yates, Clive Henderson, Daz, Foggy, Barry and myself (Jim D) thanks for joining us in the Motown Room, which was well supported every night. Really enjoyed the afternoons too, with something a little different from the open box DJs. The main room was packed every time I ventured in there to see regulars Danny Clegg, Jules Metcalfe, Sam Moore, Paul Thornily and Yocky, as well as Jersey virgin John Poole. A new addition to the Weekender was the Modern room which was a welcome haven from the main room enjoying the sounds played by Lawrence Grimshaw, Barry Cooper and the rest of the crew. Big thanks to Fitzy & Christine and all the other Fitzsoul DJs and backroom staff for a brilliant weekend. See you back at the Merton in 2023! Check out https://www.fitzsoul.co.uk/index.html for details.
  10. All our travelling and holidays are over for this year (except for Jersey Weekend, obviously) so back to normal for going to the Festival for us at last. Can’t wait to get back to Fitzsoul Sundays Got Soul this weekend. Always a great afternoon. All the best. Jim
  11. Really missing going to the Festival at the moment but holidays keep getting in the way! Sadly going to miss this one too but we will be back for Sunday's Got Soul at the end of September. Please continue to support Fitzsoul at the Festival and the great line up of DJ's that Fitzy puts on every month. Friendly crowd, great music, full dance floor. As Gene Toones once said "What more do you want".
  12. A great afternoon at the Festival yesterday (28th May) with the attendance not really affected by the footie and plenty staying right to the very last record. Looking forward to next month already when I’ll be guesting for the first time on a Sunday in 2022. Got some new additions to my collection which I can’t wait to play for the Fitzsoulies. See you on 26th June everyone.
  13. You were the first person I ever heard play this track @Algsoul in Jersey all those years ago. Hope you’re keeping well mate.
  14. Looking forward to getting back on the stage at the Festival on Saturday 14th May. Got a few new additions to my box which I know the Fitzsoulies will appreciate. Thank you for your continued support of Fitzsoul and don't forget the Jersey Soul Weekend 2022 has a new home at the Merton Hotel and promises to be the best ever, especially with the addition of a Modern Room. Bookings can be made at http://www.fitzsoul.co.uk/Jersey.html . See you soon everyone.
  15. Last month at the Festival was a cracker, lots of new faces as well as Fitzsoul regulars. Hope to see you all again on Saturday for another fab night of belting Northern Soul, RnB, Crossover and a touch of Motown. See you Saturday Fitzsoulies.
  16. Countdown to Sunday's Got Soul. Record boxes sorted with my usual ATB mix of Northern, R&B, Modern, Crossover and a sprinkling of Motown. One last chance for a dance before Christmas or just enjoy a fantastic afternoon listening to some great tunes with like minded soulies from across the region and beyond. Last Saturday at the Festival was top notch, so lets keep that vibe going on Sunday. See you there Fitzsoulies.
Thanks to everyone who braved the snow to attend this months Sundays Got Soul, especially the ladies and gents that came all the way from Coventry and Nuneaton. Great to see some old friends too (the Arnold 4) for the first time in nearly two years. Thanks for the kind comments about my set especially the guy who requested Oh My Darling, it was a pleasure to play it, something I should do more often. Don’t forget there is an extra Sundays Got Soul date at the Festival in December on Sunday 19th. Hope to see you there Fitzsoulies.
My first time back at the Festival on a Saturday night since January 2020. Unusually, I was very nervous for some reason but needn’t have been as my set was rewarded with mostly full dance floor for the full hour. I like to please everyone with an across the board set, mixing NS classics with R&B, crossover, modern and not forgetting a bit of motown which all seemed to go down well with the dancers. Plenty of new faces as well as the regulars which is good to see. Looking forward to hopefully playing at the Festival again in the run up to Christmas and on New Years Eve. Don’t forget it’s ticket only this year and they are selling fast. See you soon Fitzsoulies.
Five stars from me. Yes I was one of the DJs and it was a charity event, but the five stars are for the organisers, the venue, the guests that supported the event, Sam Moore for providing the equipment and for Micky T and Glynn who were able to step in to DJ at the last minute due to illness. Good to play a bit of Motown and something a bit different for a change. Well done Catryn, not sure what the final amount raised was but Treetops is a worthwhile recipient. Look forward to playing at this venue again sometime soon.

Bookings now being taken with a deposit of £50 per person. http://www.fitzsoul.co.uk/Jersey.html
  18. Had a great time in Jersey and now looking forward to a Saturday Night at the Festival for the first time since 11 January 2020! See you there Fitzsoulies.
  19. As people may know, I'm normally and Oldies / 60's / R&B type of a guy, so looking forward to playing something different tonight. Now where that box of 70's stuff???
A big word of thanks to everyone who came to the Festival Inn for Sunday’s Got Soul. It literally was quite like old times. Lovely to finally see the Fitzsoul family as well as many new faces. Thanks for the kind comments about my set which was my usual mix of Fitzsoul Festival Favourites, R&B, 70s and a sprinkling of Motown. I counted back and realised it was 512 days since my last gig and I haven’t felt that nervous about being behind the decks for such a long time. Loved it. Honoured to share the stage with Sam Moore and Rob Smith on this first occasion back. Thanks for your continued support of Fitzsoul. Jim.
