  1. To futher explain, Rose Batiste I first heard in the 70's and the Magnetics 80's/90's, albeit to my knowledge both 60's tunes. Now in my early sixties, I like to look back and reflect. I'm as passionate about the music today as was when I started out, albeit a recovering vinyl junkie lol.
  2. As above the topic was approached in 2004, has time stood still since then? I regularly see records of interest on here, even after all these years I find music interesting. People taking the time to share their knowledge is always appreciated and maybe there is something out there we have overlooked?
  3. Here we are looking for 45's with two great sides, I have owned thousands of records over the past forty years but not many I would consider to be double siders. In the very early days we would flip the record over to listen to the b side, and those old enough will remember double A sides.
  4. There have been many great soul records since the sixties. What would you personally consider to be the best double sided 45? Two that immediately spring to mind from different eras are - Magnetics – Count The Days / When I'm With My Baby Rose Batiste – Hit & Run / I Miss My Baby
  5. Without doubt a great record and like so many other truly great records it was right for the time.
  6. I know where you're coming from, these were both part of my teenage years. Both quality records that still bring back fond memories of the Casino. Growing up, my friends brother had a nice 50 box of 45's, which included Frankie Beverley, Freddie Chavez, Jerry Williams etc Great days
  7. Sandi Sheldon – You're Gonna Make Me Love You I remember hearing this intro as teenager and immediately going up to the decks to see what it was, sounds as good now as it did then.
  8. Tempos, quality
  9. A couple more, Magnetics - I have a girl. And another oldie from way back Soul Twins - Quick change artist. Both with great intros
  10. Lester Tipton – This Won't Change Stood the test of time, instantly recognisable intro Or Yvonne Vernee – Just Like You Did Me Quality intro
  11. One stunning intro and record, Herb Ward - Strange Change
  12. Frank Foster – Harlem Rumble
  13. The Springers – Nothing's Too Good For My Baby Great super smooth intro and then quality start to finish
  14. De-Lites – Lover Play it and love it
  15. Rita & The Tiaras – Gone With The Wind Is My Love Intro and the whole record start to finish is pure class imho
  16. Bobby Paris – I Walked Away Atmospheric dancer
  17. Johnny Hendley – My Baby Came From Out Of Nowhere Head for the floor
  18. Frank Wilson, has to be up there, a proven head to the floor intro over many years.
  19. Little Tommy – Baby Can't You See
  20. Vondells - Hey Girl You've Changed Tranells – Blessed With A Love
  21. Cecil Washington - I don't like to lose Holly St James - That's not love
  22. Our sincere condolences to all
  23. First recollection for me would be as teenager watching the dancers at the local youth club. Then reading the article in a daily newspaper (can't remember exactly which one, it was a long time ago) however the reporter stated he'd been to Wigan Casino and the dance moves and foot work compared to Fred Astaire. Shortly after I watched This England Wigan Casino. I was hooked, at 16 I went to the Casino to see the dancers myself and listen to this heartfelt soul music. Absolutely amazing, I soon took to the floor inspired by the some of the best dancers I have ever seen. The music spoke to me stirring up emotion and moves that would last a lifetime. The dance competitions were something to behold, incredible dancers from all over the country.
  24. Top one is a definite carver, there's writing under the label
  25. Our sincere condolences to all family and friends, RIP
