  1. ================================================== I AGREE 100% WITH THE ABOVE !!!!!!!! Back to the c/up question one of the longest to stay covered was Dickie Searlings Maurice McAli / Mr Soul Genuine 45 that stayed covered from Wigan until Rod Shard found a couple of copys Stateside in the early 90,s. Biggest laugh ive had with the cover/ up gang is when some dj who shall remain nameless played Ben E King Cry to Me at the Droylsden niters in the 90,s c/up the daft sod thought nobody had heard it before, you should have seen Pete Lawson rolling about pissing his sides as only Pete could in his crazy way For the next half hour of this guy,s spot several soulies took the piss by dirty dancin every time he put a tune on Regards IAN C Quote--WALLS ARE FOR COVERING NOT RARE VINYL

  18. I Still miss Pete and hardly a week goes by without me thinkin of him, something always crop,s up a 45 a name a memory and Pete,s always in there. I started mating with Pete back in early 73 and we had some terrifc times at the Highland Room and nites around the country some great memory,s of Pete at VA VA,s in Bolton ,we started getting 45,s from the States and found some pretty good contacts between us to send stuff over to us, Pete lived for Northern Soul you only had to look at the tattoo on his chest to see what the music meant to him it was his life..Pete could be a difficult plonker sometime but the guy was deep down a really sensitive and lovely bloke who thought a lot about the less fortunate people of the world when i was seriously ill in 1980 and had given up hope of ever getting better Pete was a tower of strength he would phone every day come down to my house for a few days giving me loads of support and help really cheering me up when i was down, I loved the guy really and i was honoured along with Big Mell, Little Mick (his two best mates from Ormskirk ) and Dave Molloy to be a Pall Bearer at Pete,s Funeral..For those who did,nt come the service in a packed Parish Church in Ormskirk it was more than a fitting tribute to a Legend of the Soul Scene! Dave Godin,s moving sermon will stick with me for all time and the wake afterwards in the pub showed how much Peter was loved by those who knew him. The ride home to Lowton in Matchies Volvo Sport was a classic four in the back three in the front in a car built for two and a midget .. A great day on such a sad one Pete would have loved that ride home , mind you we would probally have thrown him out after a couple of miles for doing our yeds in !!!! Peter Lawson Legend the scene is a sader place without him..... GONE BUT NEVER FORGOTTEN............Ian Cunliffe proud to be your friend...
  19. I,ve had some great bargain 45,s off E-Bay last month a guy mailed me who had seen me bidding on a Mary Saxton album ,said he was selling his collection and there where 3 Mary Saxton 45,s in there one being the ultra rare Losing Control on Pace he said if I wanted it it was $60 postage included !!! Well the cash was with SwiftAir 20 minutes later not bad $60 for a 45 worth 4 figures. Other good bargains Bobby Lee Timberlake--Mirwood $12 Knights--Usa $90 Edward Hamilton--Carrie (orange ) $40 and several more great 45,s at rock bottom prices only ever had one bad deal that was a Album Lou Courtney-Epic described as EX came it was Bobbins looked like it had been used has a tray --Bastard !!! Kind Regards Ian Cunliffe
  20. Well i,ve read Marks article and I dont know what you are talkin about re Ian Levine in Disguise The article just puts down some of Marks current spins out of the many fine records he owns with a little bit of info regarding the 45,s ,nothing whatsoever wrong with that !!!!! I have heard Mark DJ many times over the years and have yet to hear him play a bad set ,which says a lot for the standard of soul records he plays out, Marks motto has always been to get soulies up dancin and its something he does dam well. Has for being bored shitless with rare crap get real empty head all the 45,s Mark mentioned are oldies that have been played on the scene for years !!!! Is it that you are one of the handbag brigade that want to dance to Third finger left hand, Out on the floor, Who who song ect ect ect ect if so get real and stick to venues where you will hear stuff like that played and stop trying to cause shite on the scene with stupid comments like I.L in disguise !!!!!! Soulfully Yours......IAN CUNLIFFE LOVE-PEACE & HAPPINESS
