Been sayin it for years there,s loads of Soulies with boxes of records and very little knowledge gettin DJ Spots and DJ,s like Stuart Bennett from Barnoldswick who rarely get the chance to dj,have awesome collections and the knowledge to go with it never gettin the chance to play out ..In my opinion there are less than a dozen DJ,s in the the U.K who I personally would travel to listen to another dozen who I rate, the rest are split into Soulies who have good knowledge of what Northern Soul is all about and have a decent record collectionand know how to get people DANCIN / 2 Soulies who have decent records but dont know how to put a spot together thus playin to half/ empty floors 3 Soulies who love playin their 45,s out but ave limited knowledge like whats been played in the past on the scene ect ect . and play some really strange tunes to say the least..God i could go on and on but I,ll zip it before i get into trouble

--------------------------------------------------------------------------- Got to agree with Ady The Torch was a awesome venue always packed and had a electric atmosphere , I use to go to Wigan every Friday Soul nites even dancin on stage with Major Lance and Edwin Starr during their visit to the Casino during the Fri nite sessions pre the Alniter days 72-early 73 .Went to nearly all the Sat niters during its history 73--81 with a short break due to illness but compaired to Tunstalls Torch it was defo second best, I went to the Wheel during its dying days and found it frightening to say the least for a 16 yr old so i cant say how the Wheel matched up to other nites One thing I remember which will always stick in my mind was when Jnr Walker was on at the Torch and afterwards spent about 1 hour dancing & chattin to myself and Fred Morton from Leigh, Jnr was movin from side to side and kept sayin to myself and Fred......... MAN THE GUYS IN DETROIT WILL NEVER BELIEVE THIS !!!! God his huge white eyes where like spotlights as he kept sayin that ! Regards Ian Cunliffe

All I can say is that either some people have so much money they dont know what to spend it on or there are people collecting soul 45,s who have absolutey no idea how rare certain records are or that they cant be bothered to get off their arses and chase records they want up to get them a lot cheaper..
