News to me Phil you been sniffing that paint ya put on yer dinky cars... I remember the copies turning up but that was years ago Rob Thomas told me about the find , if I remember it was quite a big seller locally when it was first issued ..I got a copy at he time for £250 then another later that year for £300 Should have kept them lol..I saw a copy for sale at Prestatyn last year for £600 ex I thought it was overpriced by £150... Mmmm

I grew up in the 50s and early 60s living back to back with Clive ( Georgie ) his mam and my Gran where best friends i was always in his house I remember well him getting to #1 in the charts with Yeh Yeh knocking the Beatles off top spot in fact my first every record was Rythm & Bluebeat which was bought for me by another neighbour Bessie Hamer who I called Auntie Bessie great woman who had a real Tiger Skin complet with head and teeth in her front room. I also lived later in the 60s near Ronnie Carr of the Beat Boys one of my favourite tunes by Georgie Fame is the unreleased Blackhead Chinaman the Prince Buster tune Georgie & Prince Buster are very good friends from backin the day I believe

If you turn the sound up on the Larry Atkins demo right at the end of the recording you can hear the producer saying ok hold it or something similar just after the singing finishes

Hi Dave i cant remember many people dropping off the scene when the Wheel. Torch ect shut around the 71/73 period quite the opposite around that period more people seemed to be getting into the soul scene especially around the Northwest with the Highland Room Ect ect seemed to be attracting more soulbrothers & sisters than ever but during th first few years of Wigan Cas some well known soulies from the days of the Wheel / Torch days left the scene due to marriage ect only to return back in the 1990s
