  8. Sold many a dap at the Pendlum Barry Tasker had some pretty decent 45,s back then and i think im right in saying kept most of them before Mr Lucky Les Hare got them off him number of years ago Pat Lewis no one to love..Magnetics--I have a girl are two that spring to mind which i ended up with off Les the first Pat Lewis Les sold it Dave Withers at the Manchester record fair for wait fot it the grand total of £1 at the time Les i think mixed it up with Warning, Kev Barrett bought it off Dave couple hours later for over £100 and next day i got it off Kev for a lot more than £100 happy days you wont see Les makin mistakes like that these days
  9. Correct in fact he got busted by the serious crime squad who had been staking out our digs for quite a while
  10. The Beachcomber was open in 73 when the niter started it stayed open until around midnite when the doorstaff started to waz people out at the time i had the Bungalow in Lowton where myself Terry Hastings, Billy Mac, Nicky Abbott, Paul Melling Billy Ferrett,Kev Fox Rob Tully Joe Sines, Shawy, Aileen, Rita and around another half dozen or so soulies lived at any one time Before we use to go to the niter we use to sort out some tunes to play in the beachcomer and i can still see Alan Cain, Bri Rigby myself and a few others playing 45,s on that owd record player in the bungalow mad days indeed up to our necks in filon daps, blueys and green n clears ect Ah the days of our youth Ian Cunliffe

  13. Miserable sods them Catholic committes would,nt know a good time if one hit them in the mush tell em to feck off like Father Jack does in the Father Ted series and find a proper venue
  14. Cant believe all this crap because a few people where having a good time..BLIMEY Its a free country people can do within legal limits anything they want in order to have a reet gud time when they go out. If people choose to go to Blackpool Weekender or the upfront Lifeline ect ect ect its their choice and we should all respect the choices people make to spend quality time with like minded people... THIS IS SOUL---BUT FOR BLACK AMERICAN SOUL MUSIC WE WOULD NEVER HAVE MET SO MANY NICE PEOPLE, BECOME VERY GOOD FRIENDS WITH SO MANY OR HAD OUR LIVES FULFILLED BY A TYPE OF MUSIC WHICH FOR MANY OF US IS NOT JUST A HOBBY BUT A WAY OF LIFE... DONT KEEP THE FAITH...SPREAD IT !!!! Love, Peace & Happiness Always Ian Cunliffe

  22. Aye and back in the early 70,s they use to throw bricks at my flat window to wake me up shouting Ian sell us the Tomangoes or the Del-Larks i worked nites and use to open the window and shout fu-k off and come back at a decent time which was strange because it was always around dinner time I remember when i first let them into my flat and they where gobsmacked at all the 45,s i had pinned onto my bedroom door they told me when i saw them few months ago that most of those 45,s on the door where on their wants list at the time.. God i must have been a right empty yed back in the 70,s
  23. My owd buddy Pete Lawson rip his love for Soul Music was legendary he lived breathed and dreamed soul music 24-7 he had built up a great knowledge in his crazy head before his untimely death Pete gone but never forgotten and Soul Nites / Niters where never the same again for me without his presence Also all the guys like Rob Thomas, Andy Rix, Gilly, Ady Crosdale Ian Levine, love him or hate him Simon Soussan Neil Rushton Tim Brown n Martin Koppell John Anderson, John Manship ect ect for their trips Stateside and finding those rare 45,s & acetates ect far to many guys to mention in that dept..and all the dj,s and punters who keep the scene alive week in week out everyone makes a contribution in some shape or form in not keeping the faith but spreading it For me its about the guys n girls who made this incredible music singers, session musicians song writers, producers label owners ect they are the ones who have made outstanding contributions in our lifes for our love for Soul Music Remember but for Black American Soul Music, We would never have met so many nice people, Become friends with so many or had our lifes fulfilled by a type of music which for many of us is not just a hobby but a way of life. Dont Keep the Faith... Spread It... Love, Peace & Happiness Always Ian Cunliffe
