Hanging up our promoting hat, thanks for the memories
Suinoz replied to Suinoz's topic in All About the SOUL
Quite a few people have asked why I am selling my prized collection of rare 45's. While it was a huge decision and not one I took lightly I may add, the simple reason is I just don't need them anymore. When Sue and I lost our beloved venue ' The Fly ' nothing seemed the same anymore, plus with 4 or 5 deejay spots in the U.K. every year it was getting too much lugging a box of 100 records half way round the World. Yes there are a lot of very rare and quality records to be had in my collection but I would rather them go to people I know will at least play them and hopefully give others pleasure from them. A lot of the records I am selling have never been played by me. That seems like a terrible waste. There is nothing untoward in my decision and I hope everyone finds something of interest to add to their collection. Sometimes it takes the slightest thing to trigger something in our minds. Thanks to everyone who has offered words of support for Sue and I, we will be eternally grateful. Tony Edgley, OZ. -

Nice thought Kris but it was done via bank transfer. All i am worried about is any legal implications of selling them and all of a sudden this guy pops back on the scene and threatens to sue me. However i HAVE offered him his deposit back in an email. Might be a genuine reason for not getting back to me ie works offshore or something similar, but most people have internet access don't they ? I will give it another week and take my chances from there. Tony. OZ.

Got a bit of a dilemma concerning my recent sales. Never sold records before so may have been a bit naive on this occasion. Had someone pay me a decent deposit for 3 of my big ticket records from my first batch last week, saying the rest of the money would follow in a couple of day's as he had to transfer some funds. That was last Friday and as yet I have received nothing, plus the person in question won't answer my emails. I have offered to refund the deposit and put the records back in sales but if he won't reply HOW DO I STAND and for HOW LONG do i have to wait ?? My problem is I could have sold the records to other buyers and may have to re - list them if the money is not forthcoming. I work in a new car dealership here in Australia and we have to refund deposits if a customer has a good reason for not proceeding with the purchase. Has anyone had a similar situation and if so what was the outcome ?? Thankfully this is an isolated case as everyone else that has purchased for my last 2 lists have paid in good faith and their records have been shipped. Tony. OZ.

Hi Joan, nothing strange about it. I haven't sold records before so it's all a bit daunting to say the least. As Pete say's i just didn't want the thread to be swamped with negative comments. Maybe the next lot will be in a different format ie PRICED AND THEN LOCKED. I was overwhelmed with enquiries after just a few hours last night, but will be contacting EVERYONE via p.m. tonight Aussie Time. Yes it will be a massive wrench parting with some of the best reords on the planet as i have never really had the oppurtunity to play most of them whilst living here in Australia. ( It has no place for a 100 % rare soul night ). I HAVE spun a few of them on my deejaying trips to the U.K. But my life is taking a different direction so it's time to let them go. A.T.B. Tony Edgley, Perth, Western Australia.

Hi Bill ( Steven ), Yes mate half a lifetime ago. All things are designed to go on to newer pastures. Time for Sue and i to spend some quality time together and let others younger and with more energy carry the mantle. Thanks for your good wishes mate. Following my recent thread in ( look at your box ) concerning Sue's and my decision to give up promoting, i am now going to list all my top numbers in the sales section. Obviously we are not giving them away as it's taken a lot of time and money to acquire such a collection of quality records. For that reason i will be asking for interested parties to p.m. me with anything of interest and i will then reply with my asking price, exact condition and scans etc. if required. Most of them are in really fantastic condition and have only been played two or three times by me. Most of you on here know me and there are members that can validate my records. Any purchases made and paid for WILL be posted REGISTERED TO BE SIGNED FOR. Once you have made your offer and, if i accept it PLEASE DO NOT ask for it to be put on hold. Have a look in' sales ' now and see if there is anything of interest. I will list a few every day. Good luck, hope you find something for your collection. Tony T Bone. OZ. BEEN OVERWHELMED WITH INTEREST TO MY SALES LIST, WILL REPLY TO ALL PMS IN DUE COURSE AS I WORK FULL TIME. THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONTINUED INTEREST IN MY COLLECTION.

Maybe but as i said it wasn't intended to start a discussion about it, it's all about me giving up promoting but with a side issue of parting with my best vinyl. Geez talk about being over critical F.F.S. -

Suinoz replied to Suinoz's topic in All About the SOUL
Many thanks for all the good wishes from some very genuine soul friends. We have made a lot of them on our travels to the U.K. whether deejaying there or not and have loved every minute of it. It's not over for us, just a decision to move in a different direction. As they say ' variety is the spice of life ' and your a long time dead. On a different note, and i didn't expect my thread to turn into a discussion, negative or otherwise about the Nolan Chance. Yes it did cause a lot of hype when John Manship saw it for the very first time last year and, yes i did exercise my right to place a reserve on it due to it's rarity and the mystique surrounding it. NO it didn't quite reach my reserve and i was more than happy to put it back in my collection. However with our lives now changing direction i will be selling it and will be asking 3000 pounds for it. If you want it put your money where your mouth is, if not please do not hinder the sale with NEGATIVE comments. It does nobody any good whatsoever. Anything for a peaceful, happy life for gawds sake. I am more than happy to start up a new thread about it's sale and accept the inevitable flack. Please guy's, keep the thread to the original point. Thanks again, Tony T Bone. OZ. -

Thanks mate, might see you and the other half somewhere in the sun soon eh ? -
After 7 very soulful years Sue and I have decided to hang up our promoting hat. We had 5 and a half glorious years at The Fly here in Fremantle and even had as our guest, John Manship. Sadly the Fly did the dirty on us last September by pushing up the rent and wanting a cut from every person through the doors. We were getting up to 300 soulies a month, all spending good money behind the bar but greed took over and we told them to shove it where the sun don't shine. A recent move to a new venue hasn't ticked all the boxes for us so the last gig for South West Soul at the Civic Hotel will be Saturday 17th of March. Quite an important date on our calendar as it will be 12 years to the day since we arrived on the shores of Australia. But as they say..Onward and Upward and we have decided on a permanent move to the beautiful Greek island of Kefalonia for, hopefully a peaceful life. Who knows there may be Soul in Greece ' Island Style '. Watch this space !!! Have to say a BIG, BIG Thankyou to everyone that supported our soul nights, we had a blast. For anyone on S S that may be interested, i will be selling all my big ticket records before the move so please keep an eye on the ' sales ' or p.m. me for a list. There are some corkers in my ' best box ' including the Nolan Chance on Bunky. Tony T BONE and the lovely Sue OZ ( who worked so hard and tirelessly to keep everyone happy during the 7 years ).

It's true Dave. I saw the disc before it was sent. Maybe i can get my ' source ' to come on here and confirm it although he won't want to big note himself. It was a lifelong ambition that just went by the by. No regrets i am told.
-
I have it from a very reliable source here that it went to a new owner in Germany about a year ago. I firmly believe it to be true as the source is a man of integrity. He wouldn't want to be named though for obvious reasons and i wouldn't betray his trust.

I know there has been arguments about the relatively high cost of postage aired on this forum B4 but i received a 45 from the U.S. today which confirmed just how expensive it is to post from there. When i won the record a couple of weeks ago the seller quoted the postage at 25 dollars registered. I thought ' NO WAY ' and was ready to ask the seller for a part refund once the record arrived ( as suggested on a recent thread here ), but when i got it today the postage sticker said 21.78 dollars. So the seller allowed 3.22 for the packaging which i am happy with as it was in a brand new carton and not a re-used one as you so often see. The package was sent via U.S.P.S. Tony. OZ.

How can you come up with that assumption when you have no idea what my reserve was ??
