I want to download a couple of Motown tunes to my hard drive. They are only common tunes not rarities.I have tried you tube but they seem to be blocking everything at the moment. I am registered with real player but nothing will convert to mp3. Any other suggestions please. Thanks in advance, Tony.

Following our permanent move from Australia to the beautiful, sunny Greek island of Kefalonia, Sue and I have secured a great venue for our forthcoming Soul nights commencing Wednesday 16th May. The venue is the Yukka Bar in Skala at the South end of the island. This was the venue used a few years ago for a Wigan Casino reunion with around 100 in attendance. We will be running a similar theme to our original nights at the Fly in Fremantle, playing a great mix of Motown and Northern and the nights will run twice a week ( Wednesday and Saturday 9pm till the last person leaves ) for a month or so until the season really gets under way, increasing to 3 nights probably in July. We will be putting on a Wigan 40th anniversary special in September. So if you are intending to come here for your next holiday please look us up. We would love to see friends, old and new. I may have unearthed another rare 45 whilst hunting through a junk shop on of all places the Greek island of Kefalonia which is now my new abode. It's certainly a 45 i have never seen and can find no information about it on this label anywhere. It's titled " i get so excited " and it's on the Zodiac label which as we all know is the same as the all time classic by Ruby Andrews. I have seen the record on President and Fontana but can anyone shed any light on this find? All info appreciated thanks, Tony T Bone.

Thanks for that mate. Defo won't have any regrets. The scene has changed and the records are not gonna be worth that much to most folk in the future i.m.o. Unfortunately ( and i choose my words carefully here ) there is an awful lot of backbiting and jealousy in the ranks, i have experienced it in truck loads especially over the last 10 years. Seems some people are not happy unless they are having a go at someone else and God forbid if you manage to have something someone else hasn't. It all got to the point where i thought ' F--- IT and now i feel better about my decision to pack it all in. Yes the music will still be there and yes i can venture to gigs and have a dance and see my mates ( the ones I want to see ). Bitter...NO, Disappointed.. YES.

Quite simple really mate, i'm over it !! One minute buying records, deejaying an' all, then bang it was all over. Moving on to a better life in my villa in Kefalonia plus the lure of driving an Audi R8 clinched it for me. If you love scootering patches you might want to have a look at a rare Skegnees Lambretta Club patch i have on ebay, never sewn or glued. I have a bit of a dilemma to sort out as i am currently in the process of selling my entire collection of records and memorablilia. I have my original allnighter bag which is looking a bit worse for wear after nearly 40 years. The zip is broken and it really isn't of any use as a bag. BUT there are some very rare and nice original patches stitched to it which include all the St. Ives allnighter 75, 76 and 77 plus E.A.S.C 2nd anniversary, OKEH and a whole load of others that are all in very good condition. What to do ??? Carefully take all the patches off and sell individually or as sets or sell the bag as it is. I have listed some nice patches on ebay but am undecided about my original bag. They were a group of girls that went out to Vietnam to entertain our troops during the conflict and performed mostly Motown songs. We went to see them in a live play here a couple of years ago and it was brilliant. if you get a chance to see it i would highly recommend you get a ticket. I have a couple of full colour posters that i " lifted " from the Perth venue if anyone wants one. Just pay the postage and the poster is FREE. Sizeswise the poster measures about 26 X 20 inches.
