  1. Eyup Pete, as they say mate, money talks, only problem is it sometimes lies too. Look at it like this, one door closes and another opens and your time will come if you know what i mean. Seems all too often in my opinion, just what has happened to mateship eh????? Gone to the dogs unfortunately. Stay soulful. Regards Tony E. OZ.
  2. Eyup Mandy, which Mr. E are you referring to?? If it's me then yes i am a deejay and will be guesting in the U.K. in September. Six Hills is one gig on the 20th. Reckon you girls will be there eh?? Over here i run a monthly soul night, last month we had John Manship over to guest, BRILLIANT night. Can't wait for this reunion, it's long overdue. Have a soulful weekend. Best......Tony E. OZ.
  3. Only the soulful sort Mandy. So the thread has moved to the yesterday section eh?? Oh well it all happened yesterday and i know it's gonna happen again. We wait with baited breath. Stay soulful, Tony E. OZ.
  4. No i've got 2 or 3 albums to play as well. Tie me Kangaroo down is me favourite then the billabong song . Should have em backdropping and spinning in their cork hats lol. Tony.
  5. Been here nearly 9 years and back in the scene for 4 although it seems like i never left it. Have'nt seen Nottingham for an age but will surely check it out in September. Be great to catch up, are you going to Skeggy?? If not, WHY NOT. Get the girls together for some super soul satisfaction OZ style. Skippy's on his way lol. Best. Tony E.
  6. Cheers Jock thats what the forums for mate. Won't be bringing it anyway so i will keep the purists happy at the gigs i'm guesting at. I agree it ain't northern it's just one of those records that packs the floor over here, especially with the younger crowd, and we are trying to attract new blood to keep the scene going. My kids ain't interested in the scene sadly and reckon they will be using my records as frizbies when i fall off the perch. Reckon i will have sold em all by then eh?? Anyway stay soulful. Tony E. OZ.
  7. Yep i did put 2 and 2 together and yes Sue will be there in all her glory. Oh and the numbers are creeping up, over 2000 sticky beaks now. Might need to rent an aircraft hanger if it keeps going like this or have the alldayer inside and oustide the Palais. Imagine what 500 soulies dancing in the road would look like eh lol??? BRILLIANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Would we need council approval ???? See yas. Tony E.
  8. Anyone remember the alldayers that were held at the old Baileys nightclub in Doncaster around mid 75?? Travelled up from Peterborough for em.Seemed to be most of the Nottingham, Derby area soulies there. Can't remember much about the venue or the decor and i think we used to park in a multistory across the road. Just jogging the old memory after 30 odd years. Stay soulful, Tony E. OZ.
  9. Perhaps i will leave it at home then eh?? Got plenty of other great tunes to spin anyway. Thanks for the feedback mate. TonyE. OZ
  10. Eyup Andy, my mate was in the U.K a couple of months ago and brought back 10 copies with him, paid 3 quid each. I will ask him if he has any left and post one to you or you can collect it from me in September when i'm over there. Will keep you posted mate, stay soulful. Regards Tony E. OZ
  11. Brilliant, will see you there in September then. Look out for some top Aussie style tunes, best one by Rolf Harris lol. Tony E.
  12. Eyup girls, bloody ganging up on me now are ya? Remember i'm a Derby lad.Dreams, thats what keeps the world ticking, well dry ones anyway. Love your sense of humour, keep it up. Stay soulful. Best..Tony E. OZ.
  13. No probs there Betty, my airplane ticket is on permanent standby and anyway Mandy will keep one for me for sure. The record box is packed and ready, in fact i will be spinning some of them in September when i'm over there. Do you go to Six Hills?? Alway's nice to chat to the Pommy shielas, lol. Stay soulful. Tony E. OZ.
  14. Interested to know if the Frank Popp cover up by Smoove, i can't give you up gets played in the U.K. It's a great sound and alway's packs the floor over ere. Who's playing it and at what gigs?? It's on the club tikka label, no not chicken tikka. Your feedback would be appreciated please. Ta. Tony E. South West Soul, OZ.
  15. Eyup Mandy, Defo want to be a part of it when it happens ( not if ) Will flying 12000 miles do for my input or is it cold hard cash you want?? This is gonna be a big thing and so glad to know the new style Palais can accommodate 1000 or more soulies, lets just hope everyone who ever went to the alldayers are willing to support it eh?? Don't forget to ask the management to let you have the venue for free, and on a bank holiday weekend and they get all the bar takings. If you don't ask you won't get, they can only say no then it's compromise time. Let's get it on the go. Stay soulful. Tony E. OZ
  16. Re. the Frank Wilson version on Traco, i played it in my set at the Ritz and Hinkley while over there last year and it had the floor packed, with the question " who was that by ". So it ain't getting played, why, has no-one got a copy?? It's an original even if Ian Levine did have some input and has'nt been bootlegged as far as i know. So guy's grab a copy if you can and get it played in the modern rooms, you will be surprised just how good it really is...........Levine or not. It packs the floor at our soul nights in OZ and no we are not all kangaroo eating natives. Leave it with yas, see ya in September. Tony E. South West Soul, Western Australia.
  17. Tell ya wot, with 1800 people having a sticky beak at this thread, if they all turn up we are gonna need to split the gig between the Palais and the old Madisons nightclub up the road to fit em all in. Ahhhh, great times at Madisons between northern nights. Is it still there?? Tony E. OZ.
  18. Top tune for me Mand would have to be Chubby Checker, you just don't know. It used to blow the roof off and there were some fantastic dancers hitting the floor when it came on the decks. Still love it today and will spin it at the reunion, when is it?? Stay soulful, Tony E. OZ.
  19. G'Day Steve, i have'nt got the Skip Mahoney track and you'de need your pacemaker turned full up to dance to the 12 inch, but have you heard the version by Frank Wilson,( yes THE FRANK WILSON ) ?? It's pretty damn good and on the Traco label with promises to keep on the other side, also a good record. Yep i know it's a Levine production before all you purists arc up, but love him or hate him he did some good things for the scene before he got all stupid, Remember the Mecca?? Leave it with yas. Stay soulful, Tony E Western Australia.
  20. watched a really good film last night with Samuel L Jackson and Robert Carlyle ( from the full monty ) called Formula 51. Great track by Buddy Miles titled them changes played right at the start. Great dance track and cheap as chips. Tony E Western Australia
  21. G'Day Mick, Nice to see you have John on your show later this month. He was over in OZ recently and was a guest at our soul night along with Lisa. He did a great spot and was really welcomed by our crowd. A nicer bloke you won't meet, fair dinkum. Friendly, honest and not at all up himself like a lot of the so-called big names on the scene today. Good luck and say a big G'Day from us. Stay soulful, Regards Sue and Tony.
  22. Eyup Mandy, nowt wrong with Forest, loved going to the matches to watch em when old Cloughy was at the helm. Alway's a big bash for the Derby games in more way's than one. Never forget Cloughy saying to Don Revie on match of the day that if he had Leeds team he would sell the best players to Juventus and the rest to Fray Bentos for corned beef. Bloody classic and on national tv Satdy night. Try and get to Six Hills on the 29th Sept. i'm gonna spin some stonkers. O h and get the Palais thing under way or i will have to move back and do it meself. Stay soulful, Tony E.
  23. Here, here mate but my tip of the week would be a nice thermos of strong tetley. Refreshes the parts other teas don't or was that a lager ad somewhere?? Anyway there's more caffiene in good old tea than any amount of that red bull crap and it's a damn sight cheaper. So lets see them thermos flasks on all the tables at the next nighter, sh-t there could be a money making scheme there somewhere eh, lol??? Stay sober and above all SOULFUL. Tony " T BONE " TEA TOTEL AUSSIE ( NOT )
  24. Eyup Mandy, Ta for your interest, i was born in good ole Derby but lived in Peterborough most of my late teen life and used to travel up to Nottingham for the alldayers, bloody well loved the place. Still reckon it's a goer, just go along to the Manager and suggest they give you the room for free as long as they get the bar takings, you know they will be high. Make it ticket only to keep the dickheads out and do it on a bank holiday weekend. Crikey if i lived there now i would be gagging to put it on. You know it makes sense so get it rolling and take no notice of the scaremongers. As far as Dave goes he could help you with it, surprised he has'nt replied to the thread yet cos he loves to have a little go at me lol, bless him. Be coming back to old blighty in September and will be guesting at several do's including Six Hills on the 20th, will you be there?? A pint and a chinwag is in order eh?? Anyway good luck and stay soulful. By the way you know what we say about Derby boy's. Derby born Derby bred, strong in the arm thick in the ed. No offence meant before anyone from Derby reads this, i still love the Rams XXXXXXXXXX All the best, see yas in September. Tony " T BONE " Western Australia.
