  1. I know it's a long shot and a lot of time has passed since they were printed but you just never know.Try and find out from Russ who the original printer was, they might still have the artwork filed away as they were litho printed in 4 colour process. Lot's of these old town printers never throw anything away and if they still have it might be willing to part with it. Bet the original negs. would be worth a kings ransom to a collector. The printers would probably think anyone was mad wanting them after all this time, just don't tell em why. Good luck. Tony e. oz k.t.f.
  2. Looking for a copy of this either demo or issue. Anyone selling one and how much please? Tony E. OZ.
  3. Hiya Baz, Luvly jubbly mate, Sue and i are off to the U.K for a month, leave on Thursday and have some awesome gigs planned plus some great guest spots, 5 in all including the Opera House in sunny Bournmouth. Won't be at the national for obvious reasons but we will be having a do at THE FLY the week before. It's still going thru the roof, we had just under 200 there on Friday, you really should come over to see it for yourself. Anyway hope to catch up somewhere, sometime in the future. Say hi to Kath. Stay soulful and K.T.F. Tony E. South West Soul, AKA THE FLY Fremantle W.A.
  4. Yep Mick the nighters were around that time but i remember them having either a Friday or a Sunday session quite a bit earlier than that. Gary Spencer, Jonah were 2 of the deejay's. Went back to Peterborough last year, wow what a difference. The Wirrina was still there, or at least part of it. Will be back again in September, hoping to catch up with Paul Donnelly, Smudge Smith and who ever else i bump into on or off the dancefloor. Great times the 70's,Wigan Caisno, Lotus Cortinas, Bike Racing oh and my favourite venue Notts Palais alldayers. There having a reunion next April i hear, hoping to fly the 12000 miles for that one. All the best mate, Tony E. Western Australia.
  5. Great memories to kick off this thread and i might even catch up with a few old pommy mates as well thru it. My first introduction to this fantastic music was at The George Hotel near the Peterborough station on a Sunday night.Me work mate Martin Allpress took me up there, thanks mate. Steve Allen used to run the weekly do and the atmosphere was brilliant. Small carpeted room, first record that got me going was Sam and Kitty, i got something good.Never missed one after that. Remember going to the Phoenix Soul Club at the Wirrina dressed in a 3 piece suit and stack soled shoes, what a knob ed!! Saw all me old schoolmates back dropping, wearing baggy trousers and brogues, dancing to Frankie Valli, the night. That was it for me, suit went in the bin, Derby market was next port of call for me baggies and bowling shirts and i never looked back from there. That has to be around mid 1973. Paul Donnelly will have the right dates i'm sure. Look forward to hearing your stories. Stay soulful, Tony E.
  6. Welcome back to the scene Ian. Sceptics or not mate, you did so much to bring quality sounds to the fore. Sorry to hear your not deejaying at the Mecca reunion although we can't make it as we don't arrive in the U.K till early September. Stay on here and stay soulful. Tony E.... OZ. K.T.F.
  7. Ta very much for that Eddie, stay soulful mate. Best, Tony E. OZ. K.T.F.
  8. Looking for the Temptations album ' you gotta earn it ' including the track what am i gonna do. Anyone got one spare and willing to sell please. Tony E. OZ.
  9. Cheers for that chalky, was expecting to pay about a grand for a really nice one. Hope someone sees this and offers me one eh?? Stay soulful, Tony E. OZ. K.T.F.
  10. 33 sticky beaks and not one offer. What's goin' on, are there no copies for sale that side of the globe, even from the dealers?? Tony E. OZ.
  11. Crikey if we have Royalty attending that night i better be on me best behaviour eh?? No Aussie swear words....PROMISE lolol. Just good friendly humour and a stack of great sounds to keep em all amused, well it say's " freestyle room ". Is there a dress code cos' i don't own a dress ?? Anyway just 4 weeks to go, can't wait. Are you all meeting up somewhere before the nighter kicks off proper? Stay soulful, Tony E. OZ. K.T.F.
  12. Eyup, anyone got a nice copy of this on Dayco and willing to part with it?? Sensible price please. Tony E. OZ.
  13. Brilliant gotcha mate you had me well gaffed. You on the door at Rugby, crikey it'll be like the Casino all over again. How loud can you shout " stop pushin' at the back" See ya there mate, will bring the spare copy, if ya like it mek me an offer. Alway's willing to help a fellow soulie out. K.T.F. Tony E. OZ.
  14. Sorry Ken, would love to put a sound clip on this thread but can't find it anywhere. Sorry if you have a dislike for Rugby, my first time this Sept. 12000 miles and it's gonna be worth every one of em. By the way my shed ain't your usual pommy garden shed, it's 30 foot by 20. Gotta be big to house the gym, boat, record decks and most important... the beer fridge, with space for dancing of course. Have you planned any soul nights in September, don't suppose your gonna be at the Skeggy weekender are ya?? Anyway nuff said on the Dougie thing, stay soulful. Tony E..OZ. A very HAPPY soulie.
  15. Eyup Ken, being the wanderin' type i just thought you might take a wander down the motorway to hear some quality soul at a top venue, not just my Dougie record. Take no notice of all the well meant bantering mate, it's been 30 years since the record was made and yes there probably were a few hundred pressed to get it into the Aussie charts, bear in mind we only have 20 million people here, most of em poms. Reckon most of the records would have been well binned by now as no-one was interested in vinyl once the c.d. came along. I'm not implying the record has any real high price rarity value, just that it's a bit different for a welcome change. Yes he was a white singer, but then so is Dean Parrish and look where his best record got on the scene. Anyway i'm off into me shed to play Dougie again. Stay soulful you lot. Tony E. OZ.
  16. Oh well you lot you'll just have to be at the Rugby allnighter 13th September where i will spin it in the freestyle room. Blow yer socks off and such a welcome refreshing change from the norm overplayed stuff. It's now 30 years old so you can't call it modern and yes i will sell my second copy. Nice to be different. Stay soulful, Tony E. OZ.
  17. Eyup Mark, better give it another outing then eh?? Stay soulful, Tony E. OZ.
  18. Had a copy of this in the box for 35 years. It's on the lilac coloured Action label. Played it over here and they loved it. Has anyone ever heard it played in the U.K. and when??? Reckon with its gritty beat it's gotta be just right for today. Any comments appreciated. Stay Soulful, Tony E. OZ.
  19. O.K. Sunnysoul, so you have one copy, i have another two and have never found another in any op shops or record shops. Seems like a hard one to find and doubt very much if there are hundreds out there. The Aussies never appreciated his fine music so i reckon most would have gotten thrown away in the last 30 years. I got my two from a woman that worked for a record distribution warehouse in Fremantle that closed down several years ago with the advent of the c.d. Glad she had the foresight to shove em in her bag otherwise they would have gone to the tip along with the other pallet loads of unwanted vinyl. Anyway i doubt if any British deejay has ever played it so it will an outing when i'm over there in September. Once played hopefully my spare copy might be worth a few bob to one of the big names. It's just gonna be nice to play something new to the dancers as most would have heard I'll be around. Stay soulful, Tony E.
  20. Cheers for that malc, never seen one for sale so doubt it's had any play's on the scene. Will defo play it while in the U.K. next month. Interesting sound though eh??? K.T.F. Tony E.
  21. Aussie soul singer Doug Parkinson well known for his sought after version of the Spinners hit, I'll be around also produced a cracking stomper Soon as your thing is done on the ssr label. Recently unearthed 2 copies of this from a warehouse clearout. It sounds fantastic with a gritty uptempo beat, ideal for today's scene. Nothing on it in Manships guide so i think it's a rarity. Will be spinning it in the U.K. in September. Is this the next biggie from down under??? Stay soulful, Tony E. OZ.
  22. Anyone got any idea how much a decent copy of this would fetch today please?? Stay soulful, Tony E, OZ.
  23. Eyup Mandy, does it look like being a goer then????? Remember me for 2 tickets please and give me all the info asap. Have a great soulful weekend. Tony E. OZ.
  24. Eyup Tony, Only one i have by Alpacca phase 111 is, Love at first sight,on the blue Clintone label, brilliant track played at Cleethorpes back in the mid 70's and dead right for a revival in today's scene. Do you know it, do you want it?? Stay soulful. Tony E. OZ.
  25. Anyone got any info on a Cajun Hart promo which is on a white warner bros label ? Titles are no easy way down and ( that killing of sister ) elmira. Both sides are mid tempo r n b. Can't find anything on it in Manships guides so can anyone shed some light on it and it's possible value please. thanks and stay soulful, Tony E. OZ.
