  1. Nice bit of input Ken thanks, but i have'nt found anything about them here as soul record were not popular. The question i asked related to possible British releases of both plus i wondered if anyone on the scene there had heard them before. Could i have possibly stumbled across a couple of unknowns to the northern scene ?? Hope so then i can spin em both when i come over in September. Stay soulful. Sue. OZ. K.T.F.
  2. Hiya Pete, No mate no mention of U.S. anywhere on the label. I think Godzilla has probably answered the question regarding year etc. They both sound great and would be brilliant dancers. Funny what you turn up when your not really looking eh?? I would still like to know how hard they are to find after 30 odd years. Might give em a spin at our next soul night. Have a good weekend, stay soulful. Sue. OZ. K.T.F.
  3. Wow ! Godzilla thanks for that. Still reckon Dream Baby fits into the ' northern' category. Do you think they are now hard to find being over 30 years old ?? Like your opinion please. Regards Sue. K.T.F.
  4. Need some help with a couple of 45's i found in a charity shop here in OZ. They were among another 20 records that looked like a small collection from someone who may have been into gospel type soul. Both are on Aussie Festival yellow and black labels. Have to say they would both sound great palyed at a northern night. Any help appreciated. Thanks, Sue. OZ. K.T.F. 1. The Laurie Allen Revue, Cool Jerk. Great take off of the Capitols classic. 2. Billy Thorpe, Dream Baby. Brilliant uptempo version of the Roy Orbison classic. Oh the things we come acroos these day's just when we think we have heard it all !!!! I will list a few more next time round, it's just that i can't find these 2 listed in J.M.

  10. Hiya Barry, remember the old pub mirrors that were really popular in the early 80's ? Just about every house in England had one did'nt they. Looking back now, they were bloody naff but imagine if a company would do Northern Soul mirrors, sell like hot cakes don't you think? Aspell Saggers in Peterborough used to print them, i worked for a screen printers that did their overflow work. Stay soulful mate, TONY t bone. OZ. Spreading The Faith Down Under.
  11. We were all dancers long before any of us were deejay's. Isn't that what got us into the scene from the outset? I know i still spend most of my nights on the dancefloor and can't wait to return once my spot is over. I sometimes wonder if big ego's keep some of the deejay's from dancing. Oh well i hope i have'nt opened a can of worms with that one as no offence is made to past or present deejay's on the scene. Stay soulful and keep dancing. Tony T BONE. OZ. K.T.F.
  12. Anyone got a spare copy of this Ian Levine produced 45 on the Motorcity label please. PM me with condition and price to OZ. Thanks a lot, Sue. OZ. K.T.F.
  13. Does anyone know who they were ?? Name of lead singer and those fabulous backing singers. You don't love me has alway's been my favourite song and i would love some more information on it and the group if anyone has any please. Tony E. OZ. K.T.F
  14. Since most of the clubs featured in the documentary are now closed or demolished it's up to you to choose your venues to suit your tastes as most will play a good mix of oldies, rare and underplayed in some form or other. Then you have the venues that will include the more modern tunes in their playlists. All depends on what you are gonna like since you say you are new to the scene. Suggest you pick a couple of gigs in your area to test the water. The Twisted Wheel has since reopened in Manchester, are you near enough to try that one?? Just look in the events calendar, it's got all you need to know. Wherever you go mate just enjoy the mucic and the scene for what it is, AWESOMEand FRIENDLY. Stay soulful, Tony T BONE. OZ. Spreading The Faith Down Under.
  15. G'Day Pete, re your sales, will you be doing it as an auction or will they be fixed prices, first come fist served ?? Cheers mate, Tony T BONE. OZ. K.T.F.
  16. I think that was the time he was trying to pee into a pint glass. Alway's had one behind the decks for that reason did'nt they ? Jeez i hope they washed it properly.
  17. We managed to get Soul Sam up to dance at the after party at Skeggy a couple of years ago. Got the photos to prove it , if you want i will post em on here. He won't mind me saying he was bloody awful. Tony T BONE. OZ. K.T.F.
  18. Olympics sorted, just wanting the CHUCK CORNISH now please. ANYONE ??
  19. Yep same here, brilliant. I think it was the first place i heard Larry Davis, i've been hurt so many times. Still play it today. Anyone fancy putting a reunion on sometime ?? Tony T BONE. OZ. K.T.F.
  20. Still looking for a nice copy of the Olympics, same old thing on Mirwood and Chuck Cornish, a tribute to Muhammed Ali on white cliffs please. I have the Jay Boy and might sell it if a Mirwood comes up. Please pm me if you have either, condition and price etc. Thanks Tony OZ. K.T.F.
  21. Yep has to be Willie Mitchell as the best stomper of all time for me. A great aerobic workout for over 2 minutes even at 54. Just turn on the pacemaker and 'GO FOR IT'. Even your dodctor would be pleased to know you could go all the way through with it. Keep on Stompin' lads. Tony T BONE. OZ. K.T.F.
  22. Have to agree the Bournemouth Opera House is one awesome venue but without appearing baiased i reckon you would have to go a long way to beat our venue here in Fremantle, W.A. The Flybynight Club is a 120 year old military drill hall with a curved roof similar to the old Casino. It smells old and has a great atmosphere and the floor is to die for. Plus a sound system to back it all up. Ask anyone who's been there. I love the place, can't you tell?? Stay soulful, Tony T BONE. South West Soul, Fremantle, Western Australia.
  23. Anyone know if Edward Hamilton, baby don't you weep was ever repressed as a lookalike copy on Mary Jane. I have one that looks 'too new' to be an original. Can't find anything in J.M's books about it so any help from the experts appreciated, thanks. Sue. OZ.
  24. Nice to see your still putting your twopenneth worth in Barry. I love your posts mate, keep em comin'. Tony T BONE. OZ. K.T.F.
  25. Best person to ask surely would be Russ Winstanley. He will know where the original decks ended up cos they were'nt destroyed in the fire. No thoughts about conning the insurance company in them day's. I would like to know where they are, wonder if they still work !!!! C'mon Russ give us a clue mate.
