  1. Hiya Chris, brilliant record mate. It was huge at Cleethorpes and i think it was Mary Chapmans fave too. ATB Tony.
  2. Thanks for that Toad, just that i had'nt ever heard it played out before so did'nt know the tune. It still sounds great though. ATB Tony.
  3. I was very fortunate to recently acquire a Casino Classics test press of Jackie Trent, you baby from John Manship's auction. He described it as being a one off and from what i can make out it was a record that Dave Macaleer who in the early 70's ran the Pye record company and subsequently Casino Classics was going to release but it did'nt happen. The vinyl as very heavy and is about twice the thickness of a standard disc. The label is hand written and has the night owl logo with 'September release' written across the top. It has just a few light scratches but play's really well and sounds fantastic. Was this overlooked by the Northern Soul scene back then ?? It's a thumping dancer and just perfect for today's scene. I would appreciate anyone shedding any light on this song please. Obviously we all know that Jackie Trent was a white female artist that sang mainstream songs way back in the 60's and probably before then but i don't recall her ever having a northern style hit... is this it ?? I intend to play the record while at Prestatyn in the U.K. in March. Thanks for looking, Tony OZ.
  4. Gotta say a big thanks for so many positive replies to my thread. I like many have probably never bothered to flip a great record over just because i purchased it for the ' main ' side. Something my missus is alway's giving me grief over cos she has found some brilliant tunes on the flips and play's them out. It's great to pull out a tune thats been in your record box for years and you then discover it has a great tune lurking on the b side that has'nt been overplayed and, to then get a really positive response from the dancers when you do play it. It's almost like ' discovering ' new sounds. Like i said i'm gonna be posting up some of the lesser known b sides to some ' disco ' hits, why ?? cos they are just so damn good. Anyway please feel free to keep the thread going and once again a big thanks to those that have posted replies. ATB Tony. OZ. Spreading the Faith down under.
  5. Dave and the boy's, we will also be thinking of you on this sad day. We know you are strong at heart so accept our condolences from across the ocean. Tony T BONE and Sue, Perth, Western Australia.
  6. You need to cahnge your pillow mate. Anyway i had a phone call today, the caller asked ' what's your favourite Tellytubby ? to which i replied ' 42 inch Samsung Plasma you skinny bugger !!
  7. Well hello there KEN. Problem sleeping again ???? Never seen it that low but hey ?? someone might be desperate to sell and i don't recall hearing it played out by any deejay on my jaunts back to old blighty. Mind you it isn't a ' disco ' sound is it lol ? Sleep well mate xx Tony.
  8. Good luck finding one for that price. Manship values it at 150 so more like 120 on ebay. As i said..good luck. As for the sound, yes it is a brilliant record and there seems to be a lot of interest in it at the moment so the price could even go up as the deejay's lucky enough to have a copy play it out at venues. I played mine at Rugby and it packed the floor, in fact i was asked a few times what it was. I have just sold it to a deejay in the U.K. so 'watch out for it '. Tony. OZ.
  9. Yep Greg but I only really knew about the A side. It prompted me to rake out a load of 70's disco records i still have ( dare i say that on here ) and play the b sides of them. No word of a lie there are some fantastic tunes among them and a lot that are perfect for today's scene. Obviously overlooked by the northern soul fraternity cos the artists were labelled 'disco ' singers. However i will be posting some of them up soon so the members on here can make up their own minds. I was shocked when i heard some of them. One group in particular was the Trammps. Some great b sides on their Buddah singles. ATB Tony. OZ.
  10. Dead right Eric, i'm certainly gonna be going through my boxes and see what other gems can be found Stay soulful mate. ATB Tony.
  11. I have just acquired a very nice copy of the storming tune by Ronnie Forte,' that was whiskey talkin' on the Tarx label. Nothing was mentioned about the b side by the seller so i thought i would play it and see... Wow !! when i dropped the stylus onto the vinyl it absolutely blew me away and imo is better than the a side. A song titled ' nervous breakdown '. Gotta say it was more than a pleasant surprise. Have you ever been blown away by an unexpectedly good b side?? What's the best one for you ? ATB Tony. OZ.
  12. Good point mate so no flak from me, suffice to say i reckon Mark and Paula get the prize as they just flew 12000 miles to come to our 4th anniversary here in Fremantle, Western Australia. Now that's what you call dedication !! ATB Tony T BONE. OZ.

  17. All good points Steve but we can all speculate. What we should be doing here surely is asking the people that may have the CORRECT answer.. Mr Russ Winstanley, Richard Searling ( sadly Mike Walker and Harry Green are no longer with us ). Or someone that worked for Wigan council at the time. And i don't mean the local dustman before anyone comes up with a smart answer thanks !!
  18. Trying to find out if this was ever booted. If so whats the difference to the original and how much is it worth?? Any help would be appreciated thanks. ATB Tony.

  20. Try your local hardware/motor accessories supplier. Someone like B and Q or Halfords. They should have toolboxes with hinged lockable lids, usually made of galvanised steel. I have all my records stored in these and they hold approx 200 singles. I live in OZ but there should be something very similar available in the U.K. Go onto google and tap in steel toolboxes. You should hopefully find something mate. ATB Tony. Perth, W.A.. K.T.F.
  21. That's the one thanks. Where can i get one ? Tony. OZ.

  23. For me it would have to be every track on Edwin Starr's 25 miles album. Seriously they are all cranking songs. 24 hours to find my baby and his version of he who picks a rose are two of the best dancers i've heard for a long time. T BONE. OZ. K.T.F.
  24. Nice to know that Harry thanks mate. I will drag out my copy to spin at Prestayn in March. Stay soulful. ATB Tony. from sunny Perth, W.A.
  25. I know someone will have that answer to this. Was'nt there a special pack of 3 45's by Lou Pride including I'm cumin' home, all on the Suemi label ?? Sorry i can't tell you what the other 2 were but they were all in a nice printed sleeve and shrinkwrapped. Apparently they sold for about 60 pounds. Anyone know how many packs they made and has anyone got one they want to sell ?? Looking forward to some positive replies. Cheers, Tony. OZ.
